There isn’t one universal reason a 24/7 YouTube lofi stream stops. The first clue is the timestamped stream-health message in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Use it to distinguish an ingest-setting error from an encoder, media-source, or internet-connection failure before changing settings.
Start with the stream-health message
Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room for the stream. Note the exact error text and its timestamp. YouTube marks critical errors red and moderate errors yellow; unresolved errors continue to appear. A red or yellow message about format, codec, bitrate, or audio points first to the ingest configuration, not necessarily to a failed internet connection. Follow the specific message rather than guessing at a fix. YouTube’s live streaming error messages
Find out which part stopped
Encoder, software, or media source
Check whether the encoder app exited, restarted, lost the lofi video or audio source, or showed high CPU load around the time the stream stopped. Inspect its preview and, if you record a local archive, check whether that recording also stopped or has gaps. If the encoder itself is not producing a healthy stream, focus on the encoder, source, and machine before changing router settings. YouTube recommends using the latest encoder version and checking how the stream looks and sounds. YouTube’s live-stream troubleshooting guidance
Internet connection or ingest path
If the encoder continues to show healthy video and audio while YouTube disconnects, investigate the outbound connection and ingest path. Test sustained upload while the stream is running, account for other devices using the network, and include the primary and backup stream bitrates if you configured backup ingestion. YouTube recommends about 20% spare upload capacity; this is a recommendation, not a guarantee that a connection will stay stable. If the connection continues to drop, try wired Ethernet if the encoder is on unstable Wi-Fi, and contact your ISP if outbound connectivity remains unreliable. A cable can address a local Wi-Fi link problem, but not an encoder crash or a YouTube configuration error. YouTube’s streaming tips

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Viewer playback versus creator-side failure
A report from one viewer does not by itself prove the creator’s stream has stopped. Compare the report with Live Control Room health and ask whether other viewers see the same interruption. If the creator-side stream remains healthy, the viewer’s connection or device is a possibility; if reports are widespread across different internet connections, YouTube notes that an encoder issue may be involved. These are clues to investigate, not definitive diagnoses.
Check resolution, frame rate, codec, and bitrate
Match the encoder’s output to YouTube’s current recommendations for the selected resolution, frame rate, and codec. Do not copy a bitrate for a different format: YouTube’s current H.264 recommendations include 6 Mbps for 720p60, and 6 Mbps minimum with 17 Mbps recommended for 1080p60. These are encoder recommendations, not reliability guarantees. YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions

- For standard RTMP or RTMPS, YouTube’s general settings list H.264 video and AAC or MP3 audio. Codec support depends on the selected ingest protocol and configuration.
- Use constant bitrate (CBR). YouTube recommends a 2-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed 4 seconds.
- Check the error guide for incorrect format, unsupported codec, bitrate mismatch, missing or multiple audio streams, unsupported audio codec, and audio channel or sample-rate mismatches. Correct the specific reported mismatch rather than changing unrelated settings.
Work through the failure in order
- Read the timestamped Live Control Room error. Record its exact wording and whether it is red or yellow; resolve any explicit format, codec, bitrate, or audio error first.
- Check the encoder at the same time. Look for an app exit or restart, a missing source, high CPU load, or a break in the local recording. Update the encoder if it is not current and verify that its output looks and sounds normal.
- Test upload while the stream is running. Compare sustained available upload with the total bitrate in use, including backup ingestion if configured. Leave roughly 20% spare capacity and account for other devices sharing the connection.
- Match settings to the intended format. Confirm resolution, frame rate, codec, bitrate, CBR, keyframe interval, and audio format against YouTube’s current table and the stream-health message.
- Investigate local connectivity only when indicated. If Wi-Fi is unstable, try Ethernet. If outbound connectivity is still unreliable, contact your ISP; a wired connection will not repair an encoder or ingest error.
- Check the channel if it cannot start another stream. Review eligibility and restriction status in Studio and distinguish an account or stream-creation condition from a stream that was already running. Use YouTube’s reporting or support route for persistent platform-side problems.
Could YouTube be stopping it because it runs 24/7?
The YouTube Help pages cited here document a daily limit on how many live streams a channel can create in a 24-hour period. That is a stream-creation condition; it does not establish that one continuous stream must stop after 24 hours. YouTube also says a channel needs to be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days to live stream. Check the channel’s eligibility and Studio status if you cannot start a stream, but do not treat these account conditions as proof of why an active stream disconnected. Copyright and the lofi playlist
A stream stopping is not, by itself, evidence of a copyright problem. Check Studio for the actual notice or restriction before drawing that conclusion. For lofi music and visuals, make sure you have the rights or permissions needed for the material you broadcast; being able to play or upload a track does not establish that it is cleared for a live stream. YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and settings information is available in its live streaming tips.
