To keep a music broadcast live on YouTube around the clock from a PC in India, create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio, send it from software such as OBS, and keep the PC, router and internet connection running. The setup can work only while those local systems and the stream remain available; automatic reconnect helps with some interruptions but cannot prevent every outage.
This guide is about broadcasting a continuous YouTube Live stream, not listening to YouTube Music for personal use. Use only music and visuals you have permission to livestream. A YouTube Music subscription or the ability to play a song does not grant rebroadcast rights.
What you need before setting up the stream
- A verified YouTube channel with live streaming enabled and no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. YouTube’s help documentation also lists limits of 10 active streams per channel and three per stream key.
- A PC capable of encoding your chosen video and audio settings, running OBS or another encoder continuously.
- A stable internet connection with sufficient upload capacity, plus reliable power for the PC and router.
- Music and visuals you have the rights to broadcast live. If you plan to keep the replay, confirm your rights cover the archive too.
These are requirements for a PC-based setup, not a guarantee of uninterrupted streaming. YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance explains channel access and limits.
Set up a continuous YouTube Live broadcast
1. Create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and select Create, then Go live to enter the Live Control Room.
- Choose the encoder streaming option and create or schedule the stream. Set its title, visibility and other details as appropriate for your channel.
- Copy the server URL and stream key shown for the stream. In the encoder, paste the server URL into the server field and the key into the stream key field.
YouTube describes stream keys as “your YouTube stream’s password and address.” Keep the key private; anyone who obtains it may be able to send a stream to your channel. If it is exposed, reset it in the live-stream settings. See YouTube’s stream settings instructions.

2. Configure OBS or another encoder
In OBS, open Settings > Stream, select YouTube as the service, and enter or connect the stream key according to the available option. Set up a scene with the video and audio you are authorized to broadcast. For a pre-recorded music visual, add the media source and configure looping if you want the same recording to repeat; verify the loop and audio behavior before going live.
YouTube recommends RTMPS, constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval (no more than four seconds), and AAC or MP3 audio. For H.264 at 1080p and 30 fps, its published recommendation is 5 Mbps video; stereo AAC audio is listed at 128 kbps. These are platform recommendations, not universal settings: choose a resolution and bitrate your encoder and upload connection can sustain. YouTube recommends leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom beyond the bitrate or combined bitrates being sent. That margin does not guarantee an uninterrupted broadcast.

Review YouTube’s current encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions before configuring a different resolution or codec. Run a representative private or unlisted test and check stream health in Live Control Room before relying on the setup for a long broadcast.
3. Start the broadcast and keep the local systems running
- Start streaming from OBS. Wait for the incoming signal in Live Control Room and confirm the preview, sound and stream health.
- Start the YouTube broadcast from the Live Control Room if the stream is not set to go live automatically.
- Keep OBS open, the PC awake, and the router and internet connection operating for the entire broadcast. Prevent sleep or automatic shutdown from stopping the encoder.
- Use OBS’s automatic reconnect option to help recover from some network interruptions. It cannot restore power, fix every connection failure or guarantee that YouTube will accept a reconnection.
YouTube recommends testing and monitoring the connection, and documents upload headroom and other streaming tips. A UPS sized for the actual PC and router load and the runtime you need can bridge some local power interruptions; it will not solve an ISP outage.

Copyright and channel-policy checks
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. If copyrighted material remains in the broadcast, YouTube may replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it or terminate it. A license from a rights owner may not be enough by itself: the owner may also need to allowlist your channel in Content ID. Check YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams and confirm permissions with the relevant rights holders before broadcasting.
- Confirm the license or permission covers livestreaming on YouTube.
- If retaining a replay, confirm the permission also covers the archived video.
- For licensed third-party music, ask whether your channel must be allowlisted in Content ID.
- Do not treat a listening subscription or purchased access as permission to rebroadcast.
Common problems and practical fixes

PC streaming costs and the cloud alternative
What the PC method requires
The PC workflow avoids a hosted playout subscription, but the computer, encoder, router and home upload connection must remain available. Electricity and any needed battery backup are additional practical costs. A UPS should be sized for the combined load and desired runtime; no single capacity suits every PC setup.

For personal listening, you do not need to create a YouTube Live stream. Google announced on 12 March 2026 that Premium Lite background play and downloads were rolling out in India for most videos; the announcement said YouTube Premium remained the option for background playback that includes music content and YouTube Music Premium. The Lite feature was described as a rollout, so availability may vary by account. This is a listening feature, not permission to rebroadcast songs on a channel.
