To run a YouTube livestream showing one still image while audio plays, create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio, combine the image and audio in encoder software, and send that feed to YouTube using its stream URL and key. Preview and test it before clicking Go live. The exact steps for adding and looping media depend on the encoder you choose; YouTube’s instructions cover connecting an encoder, not a specific static-image-and-audio setup.
Before you start: check channel access and media rights
- Your channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube’s current help guidance sets the minimum age for live streaming at 16. Check access before preparing a continuous stream: YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility requirements.
- Use an image and audio recording you have permission to livestream. YouTube’s encoder guidance says to ensure you have rights to the audio and video in your stream: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder. A single still image does not make copyrighted music safe to use.
- Plan for the intended duration. If you need an archive, YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; do not assume one continuous 24-hour broadcast will be saved automatically.
Set up the still-image-and-audio feed
1. Choose an encoder and prepare the media
You need encoder software or hardware that can send a video feed to YouTube. In the encoder, compose a scene or equivalent output with the still image as its visual and the audio file as its sound source. The specific menus, source types, and repeat controls vary by encoder; YouTube’s general encoder workflow does not prescribe a particular program or provide a dedicated still-image-plus-audio recipe.
Make sure the image remains visible for the full planned run and configure the audio source to play for the intended duration. If you need either item to repeat, confirm that the encoder supports the required loop behavior and test it rather than assuming it will repeat automatically.
2. Create or schedule the stream in YouTube Studio
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live.
- Use the Stream tab to create an encoder stream, or use Manage to schedule one. Scheduling can create a watch page that you can share and lets viewers set reminders.
- In Live Control Room, find the stream URL and stream key for the broadcast.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
3. Connect the encoder securely
Open your encoder’s streaming settings and enter the stream URL and key from Live Control Room. Treat the key like a password: do not share it publicly, and reset it if you think it has been exposed. YouTube recommends RTMPS, which encrypts the connection; use the RTMPS server URL if your encoder supports it. See Manage live stream settings and YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guidance.
4. Match settings to the output you can sustain
There is no single bitrate that fits every stream. Choose settings based on your output resolution, frame rate, codec, and available upload capacity, using YouTube’s recommended encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions. Test the chosen settings with the actual still image and audio. For a static visual, you will not be testing motion behavior, but you can still check that the image is present, the audio is clear and continuous, and the connection remains healthy.

Test, go live, and monitor the stream
- Start sending the encoder feed to YouTube and wait for it to appear in the Live Control Room preview.
- Check the preview and the viewer-facing watch page. Listen for the intended audio and confirm the image is displayed correctly.
- Review stream health and audio/video quality. YouTube advises testing with representative content and monitoring the stream while it is live: YouTube live-streaming tips.
- When the preview is ready, select Go live in Live Control Room.
- Continue monitoring the encoder and stream health during the broadcast. YouTube’s guidance does not promise uninterrupted uptime or describe an automatic recovery design for a disconnected encoder.
Plan for interruptions and archives
A 24/7 stream is a long-running broadcast, not a guarantee that the connection will never fail. Keep an eye on the encoder output and YouTube’s stream health, and be ready to reconnect if the feed drops. If uninterrupted operation matters, consider who will notice and respond to a failure when your local computer or internet connection is unavailable.
YouTube’s stated automatic archive coverage is for streams under 12 hours. Its guidance does not promise an automatic archive for a single 24-hour broadcast, so make separate recording and archive plans if you need a saved copy.

Ways to keep a YouTube stream running
| Approach | What you manage | Important trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo — first option to consider | Upload videos, add your YouTube stream key, then go live; it loops uploaded videos from the cloud. | It keeps the stream running without a home computer, supports uploaded video rather than a live camera feed, and offers any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot; the first day is free. |
| Local encoder on a computer | Build the still-image-and-audio output, keep the encoder and computer running, and monitor the connection. | You control the local media setup, but the stream depends on that computer and its internet connection staying available. YouTube does not require a dedicated mini PC; one is an optional choice, not a stated minimum requirement. |
For the local route, YouTube supports encoder software and hardware, but the precise scene construction and looping behavior depend on the encoder. A cloud service is a different workflow: YouTube’s English UK help result describes Gyre as a cloud-based tool for streaming prerecorded video 24/7, but does not establish current pricing, feature limits, or reliability. See the relevant YouTube Help result; check the provider’s current terms before relying on it.

It loops the uploaded content from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Every slot supports uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price, with no re-encode or quality tiers, and automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month.
