To show a playlist of nature videos to live viewers, send the videos through an encoder connected to YouTube Live; YouTube’s playlist Loop control only repeats playback for you and does not create or control a live broadcast. If you only want to watch the playlist on repeat, use that Loop control in the YouTube player instead.
First decide: repeat playback or broadcast live?
| What you want | Where to set it up | What viewers see |
|---|---|---|
| Keep a playlist repeating on your own screen | YouTube player’s playlist Loop control | Nothing new is broadcast; this is ordinary playback for you. |
| Show the playlist as a live broadcast | YouTube Live Control Room and an encoder | A live feed sent by the encoder to your YouTube channel. |
The player’s Loop control does not control an encoder. YouTube’s general live-streaming guidance explains how to connect an encoder, but does not specify how a particular encoder loads and repeats a local playlist. Those steps depend on the application you choose.
Repeat a playlist while watching YouTube
On a computer
- Open a video from the playlist you want to watch.
- Expand the playlist panel beside the video.
- Select the playlist’s Loop control. YouTube says the playlist will repeat continuously.
On mobile, TV, or console
YouTube provides playlist repeat controls on mobile and on TV or console, but the available controls and their placement vary by platform. Use the controls in the YouTube playback interface. This repeats viewing playback; it does not put the videos on your channel as a live stream.
See YouTube’s instructions for looping videos and playlists.

Prepare a nature-video broadcast for YouTube Live
Check channel eligibility
YouTube says a channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Its getting-started guidance also states that users must be at least 16 to livestream. Check the current requirements in YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility help before scheduling.
Clear the rights to every video and sound
Use only video and audio you own or have permission to broadcast on YouTube Live. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, including copyrighted material that appears in another live broadcast. A match can trigger a warning or placeholder image; if the content remains, YouTube may temporarily interrupt or terminate the stream. Even licensed third-party content may be interrupted unless the rights owner has added your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Archived streams can also receive Content ID claims after they end. Read YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.

Create the live stream and get its connection details
- In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream.
- Get the stream URL and stream key shown for the broadcast. Your encoder uses these to send the feed to YouTube.
- Treat the key like a password: do not share it or publish it. If it is exposed, use YouTube’s reset option and update the encoder with the new key.
YouTube’s encoder setup instructions describe the connection workflow. Some encoders offer a YouTube sign-in or destination selection; otherwise, enter the stream URL and key in the encoder.
Load and loop the videos in your encoder
Use an encoder that can take your nature videos as a source and repeat or sequence them. The exact way to add files, order a playlist, set it to repeat, and send it continuously is specific to that encoder. Consult its current official documentation for those controls; YouTube’s playlist Loop option is not an encoder setting.

YouTube supports encoders for sharing a screen or sending a feed, and they can be software or standalone hardware. You do not need to buy a camera or expensive production equipment just to send prerecorded video. YouTube Help says, “You do not need expensive equipment, what you have at hand will do.”
Preview, go live, and monitor the broadcast
- Start the encoder’s connection to YouTube, but check the Live Control Room preview before starting the public broadcast.
- Confirm that the intended video and audio are present and that the playlist is progressing as expected.
- Start the broadcast from the Live Control Room when the preview is ready.
- Monitor picture and sound throughout the stream. YouTube recommends checking the preview and monitoring stream quality; a public or unlisted test stream can help you learn the workflow before a planned broadcast.
See YouTube’s live-streaming tips for its monitoring guidance.

Plan the end time and preserve a copy
To end an encoder stream, stop sending content from the encoder. YouTube says it can automatically archive streams under 12 hours, but a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. DVR rewind can also be limited or unavailable beyond 12 hours. If you need a dependable copy, record locally as well as streaming. Details are in YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance and its DVR guidance.

| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| The playlist repeats for you, but viewers do not see a live stream. | You enabled YouTube player Loop rather than sending a live feed. | Create a stream in Live Control Room and connect an encoder. |
| The stream does not appear in the Live Control Room preview. | The encoder is not connected to the correct stream URL or key, or is not sending a feed. | Check the destination and credentials in the encoder and confirm it is sending; reset an exposed key in YouTube Studio. |
| The video plays once and stops. | The encoder’s source or playlist is not configured to repeat. | Check the encoder’s current instructions for playlist sequencing and repeat behavior. YouTube’s Loop control does not change this setting. |
| A warning, placeholder, interruption, or termination occurs. | YouTube may have detected third-party content. | Review rights for all video and audio, and resolve any Content ID or allowlist issue with the rights owner. |
| The archive is missing or viewers cannot rewind. | The stream exceeded 12 hours. | For future streams, plan within YouTube’s stated archive limit and keep a local recording when preservation matters. |
Or let it run in the cloud
