First check YouTube’s Sleep Timer: it deliberately pauses the current video after the duration you choose. If it is off, check whether the rain recording ended, whether autoplay is enabled for the next video, and—if you are using a phone—whether battery or background-activity settings are interrupting playback. The right fix depends on when playback stops and what device and source you are using.
Find out why playback stopped
Note when playback ends and what was happening just before it stopped. This is a useful way to narrow down the cause, not a guaranteed diagnosis: YouTube and device settings differ, and the behavior of a particular rain video or livestream is not established by its title alone.
- After a set interval: check whether a Sleep Timer was set to pause the video.
- At the end of the video: the recording may simply have reached its endpoint. Autoplay can start another video, but it does not extend the current recording.
- When the screen locks or the app goes into the background: check the device’s battery and background-activity settings.
- At an inconsistent time: check the timer and source first, then note your device, operating system, app or browser, and whether the source is a recording or livestream before troubleshooting further.
Turn off or adjust YouTube’s Sleep Timer
YouTube’s Sleep Timer pauses the current video after a selected duration. On a computer, open the player’s Settings → Sleep Timer and choose a duration; if a timer is already running, YouTube says you can adjust it. Make sure the selected duration will not expire during the hours you want to listen. The available controls may differ by device or app version. YouTube Help: Set a sleep timer.
Check whether the rain source actually lasts all night
A recording is finite: when it reaches its end, that video cannot keep playing by itself. Check the video’s details and, if possible, observe how it behaves before relying on it overnight. The available guidance does not establish the runtime or continuity of any particular rain video or livestream, so do not assume a source will last for a specific number of hours.

If you want one video to continue, choose a recording whose actual runtime covers the period you need. If you are comfortable with a sequence of videos, a playlist can provide a next item—but the next video starting depends on autoplay and the items in that queue.
Use autoplay for the next video—not to extend this one
Autoplay controls whether YouTube starts another video after the current one finishes. It does not keep a finite rain recording running beyond its endpoint. If playback stops at the end of a video, check that autoplay is enabled and that the next item in the queue is suitable. You can also build a playlist of rain recordings and check that it has enough content for your intended listening period. YouTube’s explanation of autoplay describes it as continuing with another video after the current one finishes; current in-product labels may differ.

If you listen on a phone, review its power settings
If playback stops when your phone locks or YouTube moves into the background, look for battery-saving or app background-usage restrictions. On Android, Battery Saver may limit or turn off background activity, and the exact settings vary by device and Android version. Google’s Pixel guidance includes Pixel-specific controls for app background usage and screen timeout; those menu paths should not be assumed to apply to other Android phones.
