To keep a YouTube podcast livestream playing after its playlist ends, set the podcast’s media source or playlist to repeat in the software sending the stream to YouTube. YouTube’s watch-page Loop control is for viewers; it does not make the creator’s encoder repeat its source. Check that the video and audio restart in your software preview before going live.
Set the podcast source to repeat in your streaming software
-
Open the streaming software that sends your podcast to YouTube, and locate the media or playlist source containing the episodes.
-
Enable that source’s repeat or loop option, if available. The exact setting and menu location depend on the software and its version; YouTube’s encoder instructions do not specify a universal loop setting.
-
If your show uses separate sources or scenes rather than one playlist source, check what happens when the final item ends. A playlist source and a sequence of scenes may handle the end differently.

Why YouTube’s playlist Loop button does not fix the live source
YouTube’s instructions for looping videos or playlists on YouTube describe viewer-side playback controls on the watch page. They do not describe a way for a creator to make an encoder’s podcast source repeat. Set the repeat behavior in the software feeding the livestream instead.
Do not confuse a media playlist with an HLS rolling playlist
An episode playlist determines what your podcast source plays. YouTube’s HLS guidance uses “rolling playlist” for transport segments used to deliver a live stream. It specifies no more than five outstanding segments and lists OBS among encoders that support HLS output. That requirement concerns stream delivery, not whether your podcast episodes start over. See YouTube’s HLS setup guidance.

DVR does not replay the podcast source
DVR lets viewers pause and rewind a livestream; it does not restart the creator’s media source when the playlist finishes. YouTube says DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. That is separate from source looping. See Manage live stream settings.

Or let it run in the cloud
-
Upload your podcast recording or build a playlist.
-
Add your YouTube stream key.
-
Go live; the cloud keeps the uploaded video looping, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on.
StreamNeo supports the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card required. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. Start at StreamNeo’s free trial.
Archive and duration considerations
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. If the podcast is intended to run longer, plan for the fact that DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable beyond 12 hours; neither archiving nor DVR changes whether your source repeats. Check YouTube’s current encoder and live-stream settings guidance for your stream configuration.
