What the FiiO CLASS A is
The CLASS A is an analog desktop amplifier that FiiO positions as the headphone-amplifier core of its retro-style Hi-Fi system, shown alongside the DP11 and WARMER R2R. It also functions as a preamplifier, with RCA and XLR line outputs. FiiO’s product page does not describe the CLASS A itself as a DAC or network streamer, so a digital source would need suitable conversion elsewhere in the signal chain.
In its official release announcement, FiiO says the amplifier uses a fully discrete Class A circuit built from individual audio transistors and selected resistors and capacitors. The company says components for each channel are matched and manually tuned, and characterizes the intended sound as “pure, warm, natural, and distinctly analog.” That is FiiO’s description, not an independent listening finding.
How FiiO says it is built
FiiO’s CLASS A product page names Toshiba complementary pairs and twin transistors, as well as Sanken Electric audio transistors. The company describes manual calibration of quiescent current and presents the Toshiba pairing as warm and smooth, with a relaxed low end and sweet vocals, while it characterizes the Sanken devices as precise and fast with strong dynamics. These are manufacturer descriptions; the cited material does not provide independent comparative listening or measurement results.

The same page lists eight WIMA film capacitors, 20 ELNA audio capacitors, and 20 high-precision MELF resistors. FiiO also specifies a split power supply, 20,000 μF of filtering capacitance, and a custom 60 W toroidal transformer. These component details describe the design FiiO publishes; they do not by themselves establish audible performance.
Power, gain and tone controls
FiiO rates balanced output at up to 4,000 mW + 4,000 mW into 32 ohms and describes the circuit as fully balanced and differential. The figure is a manufacturer specification for the stated load, not an independently verified measurement or a guarantee of the same output into headphones of other impedances.

There are five selectable gain levels: Low, Medium, High, Super High, and Ultra High. Gain changes how strongly the input signal is amplified; selecting an appropriate level can help place the volume control in a useful range. The published material does not give a separate output-power figure for every gain setting.
FiiO lists independent bass and treble adjustment of ±10 dB. These controls let listeners tailor tonal balance, but the best setting depends on the headphones, recording, and personal preference; there is no single required setting.

Connector type alone does not guarantee compatibility: confirm that the source, cable, and headphones use the appropriate wiring and connection standard before connecting them. The 12 V trigger connections are intended to coordinate power control with compatible Hi-Fi components; they are not audio inputs or outputs.
Protection features listed by FiiO
FiiO says the amplifier uses a DC servo feedback circuit to monitor and adjust output DC offset. Its product page also lists protection against DC output, input overcurrent, amplifier temperature, overvoltage, output overload, and transformer temperature. These are manufacturer-described design features, not a substitute for following the manual and using the unit as directed.
