Federal Realty buys The Summit in Birmingham
Federal Realty Investment Trust announced on Oct. 1, 2026, that it had acquired The Summit from its original developer for $508 million gross, or $498 million net. The open-air retail destination covers 100 acres and approximately 870,000 square feet, developed over more than 30 years. Federal Realty’s announcement
Federal Realty reported that the property had more than 110 tenants and was 92% occupied at announcement, with signed leases expected to lift occupancy over the following months. The company also called The Summit Alabama’s most-visited retail destination and reported nearly 9 million annual visits, attributing that visitation figure to Placer.ai. These occupancy and visitation figures are company-reported, not independent findings. Federal Realty characterized the acquisition as immediately accretive to funds from operations per share.
Partners Capital acquires three Houston retail centers
Partners Capital announced on Sept. 29, 2026, that it acquired the Highway 6 Retail Portfolio, a collection of three neighborhood centers near Highway 6 and U.S. Highway 290 in northwest Houston: Town Square Shopping Center, The Exchange Shopping Center, and Boardwalk Shopping Center. The buyer said Highway 6 carries more than 50,000 vehicles per day. That traffic figure comes from Partners Capital’s announcement, rather than an independent traffic assessment cited here. The firm described the purchase as its third Opportunity Fund VI acquisition and its second retail investment through that vehicle.
Brixmor and Everview announce Slate Grocery REIT agreement
A Sept. 28 PR Newswire listing reported that Brixmor Property Group and Everview Partners had agreed to acquire Slate Grocery REIT for $2.34 billion.
