Tractor Supply’s dividend streak is intact through 2026: the company announced its 17th consecutive annual increase on February 11, raising the quarterly dividend to $0.24 per share. Whether it raises the dividend again in 2027 is uncertain. Its latest reported quarter showed weaker comparable sales and earnings, and the company cut its full-year 2026 guidance in July.
What Tractor Supply has declared
The board’s February 11, 2026 declaration raised the annualized dividend by 4.3%, from $0.92 to $0.96 per share. The quarterly payment is $0.24 per common share. The first payment at that rate was scheduled for March 10, 2026, to shareholders of record on February 24. Tractor Supply described the increase as its 17th consecutive year of dividend growth. The company’s announcement establishes the streak through 2026; it does not establish a future increase.
The company says its quarterly cash dividend program began on March 1, 2010. Its FAQ lists the 2025 quarterly rate as rising from $0.22 to $0.23 following a five-for-one stock split effective December 20, 2024. The FAQ still calls 2025 the 16th consecutive increase, while the newer February 2026 announcement calls the 2026 raise the 17th. For the current count, the dated 2026 announcement is the relevant update. Tractor Supply’s investor FAQ also says it has no direct stock purchase plan.
What the latest results say about dividend capacity
Tractor Supply’s second quarter ended June 27, 2026; results were released July 23. Net sales rose 2.3% year over year to $4.54 billion, but comparable store sales fell 1.5%. Net income declined 16.1% to $360.7 million, and diluted earnings per share (EPS) fell 14.9% to $0.69. The company said positive comparable sales in April and June were more than offset by unusually adverse May conditions, with weakness in seasonal and discretionary categories. CEO Hal Lawton said, “While we are not satisfied with our performance, we believe there are discrete headwinds impacting the majority of our end markets.” That is management’s view, not an independent assessment. The second-quarter release provides the results and management’s comments.

Full-year guidance was cut
In July, Tractor Supply revised its fiscal 2026 outlook to net sales growth of 2.5%–3.5%, comparable store sales ranging from down 1% to flat, operating margin of 8.0%–8.3%, net income of $930 million–$990 million, and diluted EPS of $1.78–$1.88. Its adjusted EPS outlook is $1.90–$2.00; adjusted EPS is a non-GAAP measure and should not be confused with diluted EPS.
The January 29 outlook had projected 4%–6% net sales growth and diluted EPS of $2.13–$2.23. Those figures are superseded by the July revision. The change in outlook matters to dividend analysis because weaker expected earnings can reduce flexibility, but it does not by itself determine the board’s next dividend decision. In the July release, the company also withdrew the long-term financial framework introduced at its December 2024 Investor Day and said it expected to provide an updated framework with its fourth-quarter 2026 results.

Cash flow offers a partial, not complete, check
For the first six months of 2026, Tractor Supply reported $653.1 million of operating cash flow and $252.0 million of cash dividends paid. Operating cash flow exceeded dividend payments in that period. However, the company also spent $435.7 million on capital expenditures during the half-year, and working-capital movements affect operating cash flow. The comparison therefore does not establish full-year free-cash-flow coverage or show how much cash will be available after investment needs.
How to judge the next increase
The dividend appears more supportable when earnings and cash generation comfortably cover payments while sales and margins hold up. For Tractor Supply, the latest evidence is mixed: first-half operating cash flow exceeded dividends, but second-quarter comparable sales and earnings weakened, and full-year guidance was reduced. Those indicators warrant attention, but they do not establish that a raise will be skipped or that a cut is imminent.

- Earnings: Compare future reported earnings with the cost of dividends. Fiscal 2025 provides a baseline: net sales were $15.52 billion, diluted EPS was $2.06, net income was $1.10 billion and essentially flat year over year, and the company paid $487.7 million in quarterly cash dividends during the year. These are historical results, not a forecast for 2026 or 2027. The fiscal 2025 results release reports those figures.
- Cash after investment: Operating cash flow is only one part of the picture. Capital spending and working-capital needs matter when assessing cash available for dividends and other uses.
- Business trends: Comparable sales and operating margin can help indicate whether revenue growth is translating into profitability. The second-quarter decline in comparable sales and revised margin range make these worth monitoring in later results.
- Capital allocation: Planned investments and share repurchases also compete for cash. A dividend increase depends on the board’s decision in light of the company’s overall financial position and priorities.
So, will the streak continue?
The 17-year streak is already established through the 2026 increase. The next test is the 2027 declaration, and the available results do not support a reliable prediction. Tractor Supply’s history is relevant context, but past increases and management guidance are not promises: future dividends are determined by board declarations. The July 2026 results make the outlook less straightforward, without proving that the streak will end.
