Der frühere PlayStation-Manager Shuhei Yoshida hält es für möglich, dass künftig wieder ein Spiel einen Hype in der Größenordnung von Grand Theft Auto VI auslöst. Im Gespräch, über das PC Games Hardware am 3. Oktober 2026 berichtete, verwies er auf lange Abstände zwischen Rockstar-Spielen und auf chinesische Studios, die sich zunehmend auch an aufwendigen PC- und Konsolenprojekten versuchen. Das ist Yoshidas Einschätzung – weder eine Ankündigung von Rockstar noch eine Vorhersage mit festem Zeitplan.
Was Yoshida über einen neuen GTA-6-Hype sagt
Yoshidas zentrale Aussage ist, dass die enorme Aufmerksamkeit für GTA 6 nicht zwingend ein einmaliges Ereignis bleiben muss. Er scherzte im Interview über GTA 7 und sprach über die möglicherweise langen Abstände zwischen Rockstar-Veröffentlichungen. PC Games Hardware gibt seine Überlegung mit einem Abstand von etwa 15 Jahren wieder. Das ist keine bestätigte Entwicklungsdauer und kein Veröffentlichungsplan für einen Nachfolger.
Der Unterschied ist wichtig: Yoshida beschreibt eine Möglichkeit für die Spielebranche. Rockstar hat damit weder GTA 7 angekündigt noch einen Termin oder Details dazu bestätigt. Auch die für GTA 6 genannte Veröffentlichung am 19. November 2026 ist hier ausschließlich das Datum, das PC Games Hardware in seinem Bericht aufführt; Plattformen, Editionen und Termin sollten vor einer Kaufentscheidung anhand aktueller offizieller Angaben geprüft werden.
Warum chinesische Studios in die Lücke stoßen könnten
Yoshida sieht eine Chance für chinesische Spieleunternehmen, während die Branche auf große Veröffentlichungen von Rockstar wartet. Seine Warnung wird von PC Games Hardware so wiedergegeben: “No one should underestimate the power of these chinese companies.” Das Zitat stammt in dieser Form aus dem PCGH-Bericht; ein vollständiges Interviewtranskript lag für die Wiedergabe dort nicht vor.

Als Beispiel für internationale Reichweite nennt der Bericht HoYoverse und Genshin Impact. Das Spiel zeigt, dass ein chinesisches Studio ein weltweit sichtbares Publikum erreichen kann. Daraus folgt aber nicht automatisch, dass ein Mobile-Erfolg auf PC und Konsole dieselbe Größenordnung oder dieselbe Art von Aufmerksamkeit erzielt. Der PCGH-Artikel nennt zwar Schätzungen zu täglichen Spielerzahlen und zur Platzierung in der Launch-Woche, weist dafür jedoch weder einen klaren Bezugszeitraum noch eine nachvollziehbare Originalquelle mit Definition aus. Diese Zahlen eignen sich daher nicht als belastbarer aktueller Vergleich mit GTA 6.
Nodus Fall ist ein Beispiel, kein bestätigter Rockstar-Konkurrent
Yoshida verwies außerdem auf Nodus Fall, ein Projekt, dessen Stil er mit “Elden Ring meets Monster Hunter” zusammenfasste. Zu den Ambitionen des Studios wird er mit den Worten zitiert: “So they are very very seriously going for High End, you know, more Hardcore-Gamer.” Beide englischen Zitate sind laut PC Games Hardware dessen Wiedergabe aus dem Interview.

Der Vergleich beschreibt eine angestrebte Mischung beziehungsweise Zielgruppe, nicht bereits bewiesene Spielqualität oder Marktstellung. Aus den im Bericht genannten Informationen lässt sich weder ableiten, wann das Spiel erscheint, noch ob es ein weltweites Publikum ähnlich großer Marken erreichen wird. Yoshidas Hinweis macht Nodus Fall zu einem interessanten Beispiel für ambitionierte Projekte aus China, aber noch nicht zu einem belegten Herausforderer von Rockstar.

- Ein weiterer Mega-Hype ist denkbar: Yoshida hält die Größenordnung des Interesses an GTA 6 nicht für grundsätzlich einzigartig.
- China ist eine mögliche Quelle neuer globaler Hits: HoYoverse belegt internationale Sichtbarkeit, während Projekte wie Nodus Fall den Anspruch auf größere Hardcore-PC- und Konsolenspiele zeigen sollen.
- Ein direkter Vergleich mit Rockstar ist offen: Der Bericht liefert keine einheitlichen Spieler-, Umsatz- oder Verkaufszahlen, mit denen sich Reichweite und Erfolg der genannten Spiele gegenüberstellen ließen.
- GTA 7 bleibt ein Scherz beziehungsweise Gedankenspiel: Yoshidas Bemerkung ist keine Bestätigung, dass Rockstar an einem bestimmten Nachfolger oder Termin arbeitet.
Damit ist Yoshidas Aussage am besten als Branchenprognose zu lesen: Lange Wartezeiten zwischen großen Rockstar-Spielen könnten Raum für andere Studios schaffen. Ob ein chinesisches Spiel diesen Raum tatsächlich mit einem ähnlich großen kulturellen Ereignis füllt, ist noch nicht belegt.
