Zurich Insurance Group said it completed its acquisition of Beazley plc on October 2, 2026, bringing Beazley into Zurich Global Specialty. Zurich says the combined business will be headquartered in London and calls it the world’s largest specialty insurance business. The company also announced Kristof Terryn as its planned chief executive, subject to regulatory approval.
Has Zurich completed its acquisition of Beazley?
Yes. Zurich announced completion on October 2, 2026. The deal has moved beyond the earlier recommended-offer stage announced by Zurich on March 2, 2026. Zurich says Beazley will be integrated into its Global Specialty business, with the combined operation based in London.
Zurich Group CEO Mario Greco said the integration is intended to accelerate growth and bring new solutions to existing clients. That is Zurich’s stated rationale, not evidence that the expected benefits have already been delivered.
Who will lead Beazley and Zurich Global Specialty?
Zurich announced Kristof Terryn as CEO of both Beazley and Zurich Global Specialty, subject to regulatory approval. Zurich’s completion release presents the appointment in connection with the completed transaction, but its approval qualification remains important: the release does not establish that approval has since been granted.

Other leadership roles announced
- Helen Pickford, then Zurich UK CFO, was named CFO of Beazley and Zurich Global Specialty.
- Sally Henderson was named Chief People & Sustainability Officer, succeeding Liz Ashford, whom Zurich said had decided to retire.
- Ed Bridge, previously Zurich UK and Ireland General Counsel, was named General Counsel of Beazley and Zurich Global Specialty.
- Barbara Plucnar Jensen, Beazley’s Group CFO, was named Senior Advisor to support integration until March 2027.
What scale does Zurich say the combined business will have?
Zurich’s March 2, 2026 recommended-offer announcement gave two differently dated measures. It said the combined business represented approximately USD 15 billion in specialty gross written premiums on a pro forma basis as at December 31, 2024. In the same announcement, Zurich said its own Specialty business wrote approximately USD 9 billion as at December 31, 2025. Because the figures use different dates and bases, they are not a like-for-like measure of current premiums.
Zurich describes the combined operation as the “world’s largest” specialty insurance business. That is the company’s characterization; the cited company materials do not provide an independent ranking to verify it separately.

What financial benefits is Zurich targeting?
Zurich’s October 2 completion announcement set out forward-looking goals, not results already achieved:
- More than USD 1 billion in annual incremental revenue growth by 2029.
- At least USD 150 million in combined annual cost savings by 2029.
- At least USD 1 billion of one-off capital extraction within the first two years.
These are company projections associated with the planned integration. They should not be read as guaranteed outcomes or as savings, revenue or capital already realized.

What does the acquisition mean for Beazley customers and brokers?
Zurich’s acquisition information page says Beazley continues to serve customers and broker partners through its established channels and websites. The page does not detail whether policy terms, claims contacts or service arrangements change in particular countries or product lines. Customers and brokers with a specific policy or claim question should use the relevant established Beazley contact channel rather than assume every arrangement is unchanged.

Zurich describes Beazley and its existing specialty business as complementary. Greco said Beazley underwriters would have access to Zurich’s distribution model and join its customer service teams, with the aim of accelerating growth and offering solutions to existing clients. These statements explain Zurich’s intended integration; they do not establish that the anticipated growth or service changes have occurred.
