Kansas State Park fee changes take effect November 1, 2026. The annual vehicle permit rises from $25 to $39, daily camping goes from $12.75 to $17.75 per night, and the annual camping permit will no longer be offered. Utility hookup fees also increase, while the listed youth, prime-site and overflow camping charges stay the same.
What changes on November 1
The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) says the Kansas Wildlife and Parks Commission approved the changes at its August 27, 2026 meeting. The schedule below compares the amounts KDWP currently lists with the amounts beginning November 1. KDWP says the displayed fees include transaction fees.
| Fee | Current amount shown by KDWP | Beginning November 1, 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Annual vehicle permit | $25 | $39 |
| Daily camping permit | $12.75 per night | $17.75 per night |
| Annual camping permit | $202.50 if purchased before April or after September 30; $252.50 from April 1 through September 30 | No longer offered |
| 14-night camping permit | $112.50 | $165.50 |
| One utility hookup | $9 per night | $11 per night |
| Two utility hookups | $11 per night | $13 per night |
| Three utility hookups | $12 per night | $15 per night |
| Youth camping permit | $4 per night | $4 per night |
| Prime-site fee | $2 per night | $2 per night |
| Designated overflow camping | $6.50 per night | $6.50 per night |
These amounts are from KDWP’s posted Kansas State Park entrance and camping fee schedule. The department announced the effective date in August 2026; its announcement said administrative requirements, including publication in the Kansas Register, still had to be completed at that time. Check the official KDWP fee schedule before you travel or book, in case the posted information changes.
What a visit or overnight stay requires
Day visits
A valid vehicle permit is required at Kansas State Parks. KDWP says the fee is based on the vehicle entering the park, not the number of people in it. Check the department’s official fee schedule for the applicable entry arrangement and price for your visit.

Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Camping stays
An overnight stay requires a camping permit in addition to the vehicle permit. Camping charges apply per unit, and KDWP separately lists a $2.75 processing fee for each camping stay. The schedule says displayed fees include transaction fees; keep the separately listed camping-stay processing fee in view when checking the total for a reservation.
- Camping permits expire at 2 p.m.
- You must be at least 18 to rent a campsite or cabin.
- Camping is allowed only in designated areas and is subject to posted restrictions.
How to plan if you camp repeatedly
The annual camping permit is being discontinued. The 14-night permit remains available, but its posted price rises from $112.50 to $165.50 on November 1. If you camp often, compare that option with the per-night daily camping permit using your expected number of nights, site type and reservation dates. The vehicle permit remains a separate requirement for an overnight visit, so do not treat a camping permit as covering park entry.

For a reservation total, check KDWP’s current schedule and reservation information for the dates and site you want. Utility hookup charges depend on whether a site uses one, two or three utilities. Cabin prices vary by location, timing and amenities; KDWP does not show one uniform new cabin rate in its fee table.

KDWP says park entrance permits and campsite and cabin rentals are the primary funding sources for park operations, programs and staff, and that the department does not receive Kansas General Fund tax dollars for those purposes. In testimony on HB 2568, KDWP said the fee adjustment is intended to help maintain and improve park facilities.

The same February 2026 testimony reported figures from a Wichita State University economic study completed in January 2026: about 7.5 million visitors a year to Kansas parks during 2021–2025 and approximately $152.6 million in annual economic activity. Those are visitor and economic-activity estimates, not park fee revenue. A 2026 Kansas legislative supplemental note estimated an annual $4.6 million increase to the Parks Fee Fund once the regulatory process is complete; that is a projection, not a measured result or a line-by-line explanation of the new charges.
