Epson documents Sleep Mode on multiple projector models, where it puts the projector into standby or turns it off after a period of inactivity. The available timer and exact behavior vary by model, so check your projector’s manual before changing settings.
What Sleep Mode does on an Epson projector
Sleep Mode responds to inactivity: after the set interval, the projector enters standby or shuts down, depending on the model. Epson’s ECO-menu reference describes one implementation as automatically placing the projector in standby after inactivity; a newer model reference describes its behavior as automatically turning the projector off when the setting is on. Use the wording and instructions in the manual for your exact model. Epson user documentation
How to set the sleep timer
Look in the projector’s ECO, power, or related settings menu for Sleep Mode and its timer. Menu names and navigation differ, so there is no single button sequence that applies to every Epson projector.
- Find your projector’s model number and open its user manual through Epson support.
- Check the manual’s ECO or power-menu instructions for Sleep Mode and the timer options available for that model.
- Enable Sleep Mode and select the interval you want, if the model offers a configurable timer.
- Confirm how the manual says the projector behaves when the interval expires: standby or shutdown.
In the cited Epson menu references, timer choices run from 1 to 30 minutes, but that range is not universal. Follow the options shown in your model’s manual.

Sleep Mode and ECO brightness are different
| Setting | Trigger | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Sleep Mode | A period of inactivity | Places the projector in standby or turns it off after the configured interval, as specified for the model. |
| ECO or light-output setting | Selected while the projector is operating | Reduces lamp brightness or light output. On documented lamp models, ECO also reduces fan noise and can save power and lamp life. |
These settings address different situations: Sleep Mode limits operation after inactivity, while ECO changes output during use. Labels and available controls vary; some models use light-output or laser-brightness options rather than a lamp ECO setting.
What standby means for connected features
Standby does not guarantee that every model disables all functions. Some documented Epson settings let communication or other features remain available while the projector is in standby, depending on configuration. Consult the manual if you need a network connection or another standby function to remain active.

Power consumption depends on the model
Epson’s EF11 specifications list 102 W in Normal/Custom mode, 73 W in ECO mode, and 0.5 W in standby for the voltage ranges shown on its specifications page. These are EF11 figures, not an estimate for Epson projectors generally. Epson EF11 specifications
Actual power use depends on the projector model, its lamp or laser system, voltage, selected settings, and enabled standby features. The cited specifications do not establish portfolio-wide sleep-mode savings. If you want to know what your own unit draws while operating or in standby, an electricity usage monitor can measure it; it does not enable Sleep Mode or change the projector’s settings.
