Icelandic actress Aldís Amah Hamilton provided the character’s performance and likeness; Marco Teixeira created the concept art, and Dan Crossland was the game’s Character Director.
Who worked on Astridr’s character model?
In an 80 Level feature, Ninja Theory Senior Character Artist Gabriel Dias Maia is credited with a major contribution to Astridr’s model. The feature says he worked across nearly every part of it, including the high-poly sculpt, texturing, hair, and look development in the engine. That is a broad contribution, not a claim that Maia was the model’s sole creator.
Marco Teixeira handled Astridr’s concept art, while Dan Crossland served as Character Director for Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II. Those credits describe different roles: concept art establishes the character’s visual design, while character direction and character-art work contribute to the finished in-game presentation.
What software was used?
The tools named for Astridr’s work are ZBrush, Maya, Substance 3D Painter, and Unreal Engine 5. The feature identifies them as part of the workflow but does not map each application to a specific task or publish settings, technical specifications, or a step-by-step production breakdown.

Who provided Astridr’s likeness?
Icelandic actress Aldís Amah Hamilton provided Astridr’s performance and likeness. She should not be confused with Melina Juergens, who performed Senua; the two are different performers associated with different characters.
What do the character renders show?
The 80 Level feature includes renders of Astridr with and without war paint, offering a look at two versions of her appearance. The images do not establish how the paint was authored, how the hair was groomed, what texture maps were used, or how the model was rigged, so those production details cannot be inferred from the comparison alone.

How does Astridr’s work fit into Hellblade II’s wider production?
Hellblade II used extensive performance capture across the game, but published game-wide figures are not Astridr-specific. In a May 16, 2024 Xbox Wire feature, Xbox reported that combat sequences alone took almost 70 full days to capture. That figure describes combat capture for the game, not the time spent creating Astridr’s model or capturing her performance.
In an August 21, 2024 Creative Bloq interview, VFX director Mark Slater-Tunstill and environment art director Dan Attwell discussed the game’s cinematic visual direction, Unreal Engine 5, photogrammetry, and visual design. That is useful context for the broader production, but it does not confirm that photogrammetry was used to build Astridr’s individual model.
