Ireland let a two-goal lead slip in a 2-2 draw with Austria in their UEFA Nations League Group B match at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium on 1 October 2026. Troy Parrott scored twice before half-time, but Alexander Prass and Michael Gregoritsch levelled after the break.
How Parrott put Ireland 2-0 ahead
Parrott opened the scoring in the 12th minute with an individual run through the Austrian defence and a finish. He added Ireland’s second shortly before half-time, converting a penalty in the 45th minute. The two goals gave Ireland a 2-0 lead at the interval.
How Austria came back after Parrott scored twice
Austria’s response came in a five-minute second-half spell: Alexander Prass scored in the 72nd minute, then Michael Gregoritsch made it 2-2 in the 77th. The Irish Examiner lists those goal times; the FAI’s match report describes Austria’s goals as arriving within six minutes. Ireland’s first-half advantage had become a draw.
