Vincent D’Onofrio publicly defended his Daredevil co-star Deborah Ann Woll after an X user criticized the look of Faye’s armor in the upcoming God of War: Laufey. The exchange followed the reveal of preorder and Digital Deluxe content; the complaint was one user’s argument, not evidence of a wider player consensus.
What did D’Onofrio say about Deborah Ann Woll?
On September 30, 2026, D’Onofrio replied to an X user who had criticized Faye’s armor skins and urged a boycott. Rejecting the complaint, he praised Woll’s appearance, talent and personality. Dexerto transcribed his post as: “Not that you asked, but… In no way do I agree with you. Deborah is beautiful and extremely talented. She is as smart as a whip and a complete nerd. Also incredibly kind.” Dexerto reported the exchange.
D’Onofrio later called Woll “a good friend” and added: “I am a fan of God of War. I for one cannot wait to play the new game with my son.” The comments were a direct disagreement with the user and a defense of Woll, his co-star on Daredevil.
What prompted the exchange?
Dexerto reported that the X account posted images comparing two Faye armor sets and called for a boycott. The user argued the developer had chosen “feminism over their jobs” and would “rather go bankrupt than give you an ounce of female attractiveness.” Those are the poster’s words; they do not establish that players broadly share the view.

The immediate subject was the appearance of armor associated with preorder and Digital Deluxe content. Push Square reported that criticism of Faye’s appearance had appeared after the game’s unveiling and resurfaced when armor and edition details were announced.
Appearance complaints are not the only criticism
Coverage has also described a separate objection: some users would rather play as Kratos than focus on Faye, his late partner. That is a dispute about the game’s protagonist, distinct from complaints about how Faye’s armor looks. Push Square distinguishes the two strands of criticism.

ComicBook.com characterized the original complaint as objecting to the preorder and Deluxe armor because it was not skimpy enough, and reported that D’Onofrio did not continue engaging after his reply. Its article cited more than two million views on the post at the time; a changing view count measures exposure on a platform, not agreement. The coverage available does not establish how representative any of these complaints are.
