Is Saturn a star or a planet?
Saturn is a planet: NASA classifies it as the sixth planet from the Sun and a gas giant composed mostly of hydrogen and helium. Its apparent brightness in the night sky does not make it a star. When was Saturn at opposition in October 2026?
Sky & Telescope gave the opposition as the night of October 3–4, 2026. At opposition, Saturn is opposite the Sun in Earth’s sky: in the general pattern, it rises around sunset, reaches its highest point around midnight, and sets around sunrise. These are broad sky-pattern descriptions, not local timetable predictions. The episode article does not give city-specific rise, transit, or set times.
Opposition is a useful observing milestone because the planet is positioned for much of the night, but whether it was visible to an observer depended on location, local horizon, and weather. The date refers specifically to 2026 and should not be reused as the annual date.

What was the Jupiter occultation on October 6?
The episode also highlighted a waning crescent Moon passing in front of Jupiter before dawn on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. Sky & Telescope described the occultation as lasting roughly an hour. An occultation is an apparent alignment in which the nearer Moon temporarily hides the more distant planet from a particular line of sight.
The event’s start and end times, and whether Jupiter disappeared behind or reappeared from a particular lunar edge, depend on the observer’s location. The episode gives no local timetable, so its general description is not enough to determine exact circumstances for a specific town.

What else did the October sky tour point out?
Beyond the planets, the guide offers simple finder references to the Great Square of Pegasus, Polaris, and Cassiopeia. These are orientation landmarks for a monthly sky tour rather than a complete observing manual; the episode article does not provide detailed coordinates or a full star-hopping procedure.
