Why is PGSharp not working?
Start by identifying which app or function is actually failing. An error in the official Pokémon GO app, an account sign-in problem, a GPS or device issue, and a failure limited to PGSharp are different problems with different support routes.
- Official Pokémon GO also fails: troubleshoot the official game or its account sign-in using Niantic and Pokémon Support guidance.
- Only PGSharp fails: use PGSharp’s feedback form; official material cited here does not provide a current compatibility chart or a version-specific fix.
- You want supported play: use the official Pokémon GO app. Niantic says it does not support third-party apps, rooted devices, or jailbroken devices.
Niantic’s player guidelines classify unofficial or modified software and location manipulation using unofficial software as cheating. That creates account-policy risk, but it does not establish that a particular account will receive a particular penalty. Niantic’s privacy policy, effective June 2, 2026, says its anti-fraud and anti-cheating measures may use gameplay and device information, including information about installed third-party software. How do I fix Pokémon GO after an update on Android?
These steps are Niantic’s guidance for the official Pokémon GO app, not verified PGSharp fixes. Try them in order and check whether the official game works after each relevant change. Niantic’s Android troubleshooting guide has the current official instructions.

- Update the game. Install the newest official Pokémon GO version from your app store.
- Check connectivity and location. Confirm you have a reliable internet connection and that location accuracy and location services are enabled.
- Refresh game data. Use the in-game option to refresh game data. Niantic notes that this can switch off Adventure Sync, so check that setting afterward if you use it.
- Set date and time automatically. Enable automatic date, time, and time zone on the device.
- Clear the app cache. Clear Pokémon GO’s cached data through Android’s app settings.
- Allow background data. Check that background data is not blocked for Google Play Services or the Google Play Store.
- Reinstall only if needed. Uninstall Pokémon GO, then install the latest official version from Google Play.
Why does Pokémon GO say “Unable to authenticate”?
For an official-game sign-in problem, Pokémon Support recommends checking the account provider and the game’s authorization before moving to device-level steps. These are supported sign-in troubleshooting measures, not a PGSharp workaround. See Pokémon Support’s sign-in guidance.
- Check that you can sign in to your account on the account provider’s website.
- Where applicable, confirm Pokémon GO is authorized to use that account.
- Update the device’s operating system and the official Pokémon GO app.
- Temporarily disable a VPN, then try signing in again.
- Restart the device and close background apps.
- On Android, clear Pokémon GO’s cache. On iOS, reinstall the official app if needed.
- If you still cannot sign in, consider changing the account password and trying again.
What should I do if only PGSharp fails?
Report the problem through PGSharp’s feedback form. The form asks for the phone model and Android version, so include those details accurately. The official PGSharp page cited here is a feedback form, not a current compatibility matrix or troubleshooting manual.

Avoid relying on unofficial download mirrors or forum claims that a particular file or reinstall will fix the issue. No source cited here establishes a guaranteed PGSharp fix, current version compatibility, or an official PGSharp app for iOS.
Is your device compatible with the official Pokémon GO app?
Niantic’s supported-device page lists the following minimums for the official game. Meeting them does not guarantee that every model or configuration will work, because device variations matter. Requirements can change, so check Niantic’s current supported-device requirements before installing.

Pokémon GO announced that support for 32-bit Android devices downloaded from Google Play would end in July 2025; the announcement said 64-bit Android and iOS users were not affected by that change. The supported alternative is the official Pokémon GO app, available through Google Play, Apple’s App Store, or Samsung Galaxy Store, subject to the game’s device requirements. Niantic advises players to use official versions and says it does not support third-party apps or rooted and jailbroken devices. The official app does not provide PGSharp’s location-spoofing behavior; it is the supported way to play.
