Big Blue Marble Adds Live Multiview to Cloud Video Kit

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Big Blue Marble has added live multiview channels to its Cloud Video Kit video-processing platform. Built on AWS Elemental Dynamic Multiview, the workflow lets an operator deliver a viewer-selected arrangement of live feeds as a single HLS or DASH stream. The company says the feature has graduated from Labs and can be configured on a live channel in the Cloud Video Kit console.

What the new multiview feature does

A multiview stream puts several live feeds—such as alternate camera angles, concurrent games or separate channels—into one composed video. With Cloud Video Kit, the viewer can select the sources and arrangement, while the platform produces one stream rather than asking the playback device to assemble separate feeds.

Big Blue Marble announced the feature on 30 September 2026. TV Tech reported on 1 October that it had premiered at IBC2026 before broader availability. The company’s Dynamic Multiview product page now describes the capability as graduated and says it is configured on a live channel in the Cloud Video Kit console.

How AWS Dynamic Multiview fits the workflow

Big Blue Marble describes a pipeline using AWS Elemental MediaLive for encoding and AWS Elemental MediaPackage for packaging and Dynamic Multiview. In its account, each source channel is encoded once using a rendition ladder suited to the sizes it may occupy in a layout, then sent to MediaPackage over CMAF ingest.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

A manifest request identifies the chosen sources and layout. Dynamic Multiview selects a rendition for each tile and combines the requested feeds in the compressed domain, according to the Labs page; the page says this avoids decoding and re-encoding the picture. A different source selection or arrangement is requested through a different URL. This is the vendor’s description of the architecture, not a published independent performance test.

What operators and viewers need to do

For an operator

The operator configures Dynamic Multiview on a live Cloud Video Kit channel, prepares the source-channel encoding and CMAF ingest workflow, and makes the appropriate manifest URLs available to the viewer experience. The specific setup must account for the rendition ladder needed to support the possible tile sizes. Big Blue Marble’s product page does not state a maximum number of sources or a complete service-limits list.

For a viewer or player

The viewer selects a layout and feeds through the service or application interface that exposes the choices. The resulting manifest points to one composed HLS or DASH stream. Big Blue Marble says a stock player can consume that output without a multiview-specific SDK because the composition is represented in the URL and the output remains standard HLS or DASH.

The company also says a single DRM key applies regardless of frame arrangement. Its announcement does not provide a device certification matrix, name supported DRM systems, or establish compatibility for every player or device. Operators should verify their own device, DRM and packaging requirements rather than infer universal compatibility from the standard output format.

How on-demand composition differs from other multiview designs

Big Blue Marble’s Labs page contrasts its on-demand server-side composition with two other approaches. The comparison below reflects the company’s descriptions; it is not an independently validated ranking.

Approach Where composition happens Layout preparation Client and scaling considerations
Client-side multiview On the playback device Feeds are delivered separately and assembled by the client. Big Blue Marble says this can require a platform-specific player and multiple client decoders. Client capability therefore matters.
Server-side pre-rendered mosaics On the server, before delivery Layouts must be encoded in advance for the combinations to be offered. Big Blue Marble identifies the number of combinations as a source of workflow complexity; its page does not quantify the cost for a defined workload.
Cloud Video Kit on-demand composition In AWS Elemental Dynamic Multiview at the packaging stage The requested feed selection and layout are specified in the manifest URL, rather than pre-rendering every possible combination. The company says costs scale with encoded source streams rather than possible viewer-selected combinations, and that ordinary HLS/DASH players can consume the result. No independent cost comparison or device-wide compatibility evidence is supplied.

What is—and is not—established about cost and availability

Big Blue Marble’s economic argument is that composing layouts on demand avoids encoding every possible combination, so costs follow the number of encoded source streams instead of the number of combinations viewers could choose. That is a vendor claim about its workflow. The announcement and Labs page provide no price schedule, quantified savings, defined workload comparison or independent cost study, so they do not establish how much a particular operator would save.

The product page says the capability has graduated from Labs and is configurable on a live channel in the console. The announcement and related coverage establish the launch, but the reviewed materials do not state supported regions, service limits, customer adoption figures or a maximum source count. Broadcasters, sports organizations and platform or telecom operators distributing multiple feeds are the audiences Big Blue Marble identifies as potential users.

Is Cloud Video Kit multiview a fit?

The approach is most relevant when an operator already runs a cloud encoding and packaging workflow and wants viewers to choose among multiple live feeds without publishing a separately pre-rendered stream for every layout. The practical checks are whether the source encodes cover the intended tile sizes, whether the manifest-selection experience suits the product, and whether the resulting HLS or DASH output meets the operator’s specific player and DRM requirements.
