Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallARC Raiders executive producer Aleksander Grøndal says the shift to live-service development proved harder than he expected, with the team tired from trying to produce content while maintaining the game. Embark’s May 13, 2026 announcement moved major updates to twice a year, but said regular live updates and fixes would continue.
What did the ARC Raiders developer say about burnout?
In a September 29, 2026 interview with Game Developer, Grøndal described live-service work as more difficult than he had anticipated. He said the team was tired and was producing content as quickly as it could, while questioning whether the pace and content were meeting players’ needs.
“Transitioning to live service is going to be fucking hard. Everyone said that to me. I’ve even said that to other people. I was mentally prepared for it to be hard—but I wasn’t completely prepared for how hard it was,”
Grøndal linked the pressure to the two ongoing demands of a live game: creating new content and maintaining what is already playable, including addressing bugs and exploits. He also said the team needed a framework that allowed it to be creative while maintaining a good work-life balance. These are Grøndal’s descriptions of the team’s experience, not an independently audited assessment of working conditions.

Why did ARC Raiders change its major update schedule?
Embark announced on May 13, 2026 that major updates would arrive twice a year. The studio described them as larger and more impactful, with the aim of changing how players experience the game. The announcement came amid the workload Grøndal later described in his Game Developer interview, though Embark’s schedule post did not present the change as a direct response to that interview or its comments.
Game Developer also reported that Embark had struggled to balance the needs of over 16 million players with its workforce. That player figure is attributed to the publication’s report; Embark’s update-schedule announcement did not confirm it.

Will ARC Raiders still get regular updates?
Yes. Embark’s announcement changed the cadence of major updates, not the continuation of live service. The studio said regular live updates, balance adjustments, bug fixes, store updates and player events would continue.
| Type of update | What Embark said |
|---|---|
| Major updates | Twice a year; larger in scale and intended to be more impactful. |
| Regular live-service operations | Live updates, balance and bug fixes, store updates, and player events would continue. |
So, if by “monthly updates” you mean major content releases, Embark’s announced plan was to make those less frequent. It did not say that routine fixes, events, or other live-service activity would stop.
