To enable WebGL, make sure your browser and device can create the WebGL version the site needs, then verify it with the Khronos WebGL test page. WebGL is a browser graphics API, not a separate plug-in; whether it works depends on both browser support and suitable graphics hardware.
What “enable WebGL” means
WebGL lets compatible browsers render interactive 2D and 3D graphics without a plug-in. In most cases, enabling it means ensuring the browser has not disabled its graphics path and that the device can supply the requested WebGL context. A browser being compatible does not guarantee that every device can provide that context: the GPU must support the required capabilities. See MDN’s WebGL overview.
Check whether WebGL works

Open the Khronos WebGL test page in the browser you use for the interactive site.

Check whether the page reports WebGL 1 and WebGL 2 as available. Note which version is missing; a site may require one specific version.

If WebGL 2 is unavailable, update the graphics drivers using the update method available for your operating system and device, restart the browser, and run the test again. The Khronos test page recommends checking that video-card drivers are current.

If the test still fails, consult current support guidance for your exact browser and operating system. Browser settings and troubleshooting steps differ by version and platform.

WebGL 1 and WebGL 2 are not interchangeable
WebGL 2 provides much of the OpenGL ES 3.0 feature set. Because it exposes a larger graphics feature set, a device that can run WebGL 1 may not support WebGL 2. If a site specifically requires WebGL 2, WebGL 1 availability alone will not meet that requirement. The MDN WebGL 2 documentation describes the interface.
If the test passes but a website still fails
A successful browser test confirms that the tested browser can render WebGL, but it does not establish why a particular website fails. The site may request a different WebGL version or graphics capability. Check the site’s stated requirements and confirm that you tested in the same browser you use to open it before changing system settings.

For developers: check context creation
A page can request a WebGL context from a canvas. WebGL 1 uses the context name webgl; WebGL 2 uses webgl2. For example:

Avoid outdated flag instructions
Do not blindly enable experimental browser flags based on old tutorials. A page describing prototype WebGL 2 flags from 2016 documents historical instructions, not necessarily current browser settings. Use current support guidance for your browser version and operating system instead.
