OnePlus executive Li Jie Louis has announced that the OnePlus 16 will have a 9,000mAh battery, according to his Weibo post as reported by Android Authority on October 1, 2026 and GSMArena on October 2. That is 1,700mAh more than the reported 7,300mAh capacity of the OnePlus 15, a calculated increase of about 23%. It is a capacity announcement—not evidence yet of how long the phone lasts between charges.
What the 9,000mAh figure means
The 9,000mAh figure is the battery capacity attributed to the OnePlus 16 announcement. Compared with the OnePlus 15’s reported 7,300mAh capacity, the difference is 1,700mAh. The roughly 23% increase is calculated from those two reported figures; it is not a separately published OnePlus statistic.
An earlier leak offers a possible technical explanation for the rounded figure. Gizmochina reported on August 5, 2026, citing tipster Digital Chat Station, that the phone could use two 4,390mAh cells: 8,780mAh combined rated capacity, described as approximately 9,000mAh typical equivalent. That remains leak context, not an independently verified final specification or confirmed battery label.
Capacity is not a battery-life result
A larger capacity gives the phone more stored energy on paper, but it does not establish screen-on time or days of use. Battery life also depends on the display, processor, software, signal conditions, settings and how a person uses the phone. The reviewed coverage provides no OnePlus 16 battery-life test, so claims that it will last two or three days should be treated as speculation rather than measured performance.

- Tips: For iPhone 16 Plus batteries are bonded with electro-activated adhesive. You need professional electrified glue dissolving tools to take them out. Never use common pull strips or pry them hard. Wrong removal will lead to housing distortion, internal cable breakage and battery swelling. Charging details reported so far
Android Authority reports 50W wireless charging and bypass charging as confirmed. Bypass charging can route power to the phone while it is plugged in rather than relying on charging the battery in the usual way; the report does not establish specific supported accessories or operating conditions.
Wired charging speed was not officially stated in Android Authority’s October 1 report. Earlier coverage discussed 100W, but Gizmochina’s September 7 report is leak reporting, not confirmation of the final wired specification. The charger included in the box is also not established by the sources cited here.

Reported launch and regional availability
GSMArena reports that the OnePlus 16 is due to debut in China on October 12, 2026. Android Authority says the phone will not be available in Europe or the US, following OnePlus’s exit from those markets. These are attributed media reports; they do not establish availability in other regions, retail pricing or a confirmed sales date for any other market.
