Siemens’ new iQ700 is an AI oven that the company says can recognize more than 100 dishes and recommend cooking settings. Its separate steam drawer is a compact steam-cooking appliance, not an AI oven: it holds 10 litres and can be paired with an oven or installed on its own. Together, they offer two different answers to a kitchen-space question—automate conventional oven cooking, add steam cooking, or make room for both.
What Siemens means by an AI oven
Siemens describes the iQ700’s dish-recognition feature as automatically identifying more than 100 dishes and suggesting suitable settings. Its EuroCucina 2026 announcement describes the oven as detecting and perfecting up to 100 dishes. These are Siemens’ product claims; the announcements do not provide independent test results or explain recognition accuracy across different foods and conditions.

The practical idea is that recognition can help the oven select a cooking program and settings for an identified dish, rather than requiring the cook to find those settings manually. Siemens also says users can save their own favorite recipes, such as a family cake or roast, so the oven can start the relevant program next time. That is personalized program recall, not evidence that the oven learns an entirely new recipe or guarantees a preferred result.
How this fits with Home Connect
AI recognition is part of a longer connected-appliance story. Siemens’ 2026 brochure says Home Connect has offered remote oven use, recipes, automatic programs and saved favorite settings since 2014, and that the iQ700 has had AI-powered assistance since 2022. The 2026 announcements add the current dish-recognition and personal-favorite functions. Siemens has not established in these materials which exact models, regions or software versions receive every feature, so check the specific model before buying.

- Dimensions of the pallet: 155 x 80 x 120
- Number : 210
- Net weight (kg): 0.3
- Included components: oven and stove accessories
Home Connect can provide remote and connected functions, but that does not mean every dish is cooked fully hands-free. The announcements describe suggested settings and programs; they do not establish that the oven can load food, verify doneness in every case, or eliminate the need for user supervision.
What the steam drawer adds
The steam drawer is a separate appliance from the iQ700 oven. Siemens says it has a 10-litre capacity and can be combined with an oven or installed as a standalone unit. The company’s 2025 launch material gives its height as 14 centimetres and describes cooking programs, a color touchscreen and a water tank. Its compact, drawer-style installation is aimed at adding steam cooking where a full-height appliance may be impractical.
Steam cooking gives a kitchen an additional cooking method; it is not the same feature as the iQ700’s dish recognition. The published Siemens materials identify programs and a water tank, but do not specify a complete list of suitable foods, comparative cooking times, energy use or measured food-quality results. Those details should be checked in the manual for the exact model rather than assumed from the word “steam.”
iQ700 oven vs. steam drawer
| What to compare | iQ700 AI oven | Steam drawer |
|---|---|---|
| Primary role | Oven cooking with Siemens-described dish recognition and suggested settings | Steam cooking in a separate compact appliance |
| Automation | Siemens says it identifies more than 100 dishes; saved favorite recipes can call up a program next time | Siemens describes cooking programs; the cited material does not claim dish recognition |
| Steam and capacity | Not stated in the cited announcement | 10-litre capacity, according to Siemens |
| Installation | Full oven appliance; exact dimensions depend on model and market | Can be combined with an oven or installed alone; Siemens’ 2025 material gives a height of 14 cm |
| Connected features | Home Connect functions include remote use, recipes, automatic programs and saved settings, according to Siemens’ 2026 brochure | Not stated in the cited materials |
| Best fit | A buyer seeking an oven with automated program suggestions | A buyer seeking steam capability in a smaller installation space |
Which appliance makes sense for your kitchen?
Choose the iQ700 if cooking guidance is the priority
The oven’s central appeal is reducing the work of selecting a program: Siemens says it can recognize dishes, suggest settings and recall saved favorites. It is the more relevant choice if you need a primary oven and want connected assistance. Treat recognition as a convenience feature, not a substitute for checking the model’s functions, controls and cooking results against your needs.

Consider the steam drawer if space is tight
The drawer is the more distinctive option for a kitchen with limited room for another conventional appliance. At 14 centimetres high according to Siemens’ 2025 launch material, it is designed to fit in a compact built-in space, and the company says it can also stand alone. Its 10-litre capacity is a concrete constraint to weigh against the amount and types of food you expect to prepare.
Choose both only if you want both capabilities
The products address different jobs: an AI-assisted oven and a compact steam appliance. Siemens says the drawer can be combined with an oven, but the available announcements do not establish that the two appliances are a bundled package or that every kitchen configuration supports them together. Confirm dimensions, cabinetry, electrical and installation requirements with the exact model documentation and installer.
What is—and is not—established about performance
Siemens’ announcements describe features, not independently verified cooking performance. They do not publish laboratory results for recognition accuracy, energy use, cooking time, or comparative food quality, nor do they establish retail pricing or availability for a particular country. Model names, specifications and connected features can vary by market; confirm the local product number and retailer listing before making a purchase decision.
