Yes—PSVR2 Sense controllers have worked with Steam Frame in a community proof of concept. A custom OpenVR driver pairs them directly to the headset over Bluetooth and uses Steam Frame’s cameras to track the controllers’ infrared lights. Valve has not announced support for PSVR2 or Quest 3 controllers; Quest 3 support remains experimental.
How the PSVR2 controllers work with Steam Frame
Reddit user Severe-Status1302 described the project as a custom OpenVR driver that tracks the PSVR2 Sense controllers’ infrared lights with Steam Frame’s tracking cameras. PC Guide reported on October 2, 2026, that the project took tweaks and fine-tuning to get working. The modder said “everything works,” but that is a report of their own setup—not a published compatibility test or guarantee for other users. PC Guide’s report.
Quest 3 controller support is not ready to treat as a release
The modder said they were working on a “jank setup” that leaves the Quest 3 active and pipes necessary inputs to Steam Frame. PC Guide described Quest 3 support as planned and reported that the modder hoped to publish the project on GitHub. The available evidence does not establish that a public build or installation guide is available, so Meta Quest 3 Touch Plus controllers should be considered experimental, not a ready alternative.

How this differs from Valve’s supported controller path
Valve’s Steamworks documentation describes the native Steam Frame controller input profile and lets developers bind to Frame controllers as an OpenVR controller type. Its Steam Frame Verified presentation says standalone VR titles are tested for full playability with Steam Frame controllers, with a 90 FPS target for standalone VR. Neither document describes support for PSVR2 Sense or Quest 3 controllers.

If you already own the controllers, the proof of concept is promising, but it is community-developed software. Compatibility could change with Steam Frame firmware or SteamVR updates. The cited sources do not provide verified measurements for latency, tracking accuracy, battery life, comfort, haptics, or long-session reliability.

For the hardware used in the project, search for “PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers.” PC Guide reported that Sony’s controllers were available in a bundle with a charging station; a charging dock is a practical accessory if you plan to use the pair regularly. Buying controllers specifically for this setup is harder to justify until a public driver and installation instructions are available.
