TunesKit iPhone Data Recovery is worth trying only as a scan-and-preview experiment. TunesKit documents recovery from an iPhone or iPad, an iTunes backup, or an iCloud backup, and says the trial can show files before payment. It does not guarantee recovery: overwritten data is described as unrecoverable, and this review found no reproducible independent test establishing a success rate.
What TunesKit iPhone Data Recovery does
TunesKit presents three recovery routes:
- Directly from an iOS device: connect the device to a computer, trust the computer, select the recovery mode, choose data types, scan, and preview results.
- From an iTunes backup: select a local backup and scan its contents.
- From an iCloud backup: sign in through the software and select an available backup to scan.
The company says recovered files are saved to the computer rather than written directly back to the iPhone. That makes the software an extraction tool, not a one-click restore to the original device.
What to try before paying
- Check the source you still have. A working, trusted device can be scanned directly. If the phone is disabled, TunesKit says direct-device recovery is unavailable; use an iTunes or iCloud backup instead.
- Install the latest iTunes when using device recovery. TunesKit’s guide lists it as a prerequisite for the direct-device workflow.
- Connect by USB and tap “Trust.” Then choose the iOS recovery mode in TunesKit.
- Select only the relevant categories. Choosing fewer types can make the scan and review easier to manage.
- Scan and preview the exact items you need. Look for specific photos, messages, contacts, notes, or attachments—not merely a large count of results.
- Pay only if the preview justifies the risk and cost. The preview is the practical decision point; it is not a guarantee that every displayed item will export correctly.
Can it recover deleted iPhone data?
There is no established yes-or-no answer for a particular deletion. TunesKit’s FAQ answers its 100% success-rate question with: “No. It depends on whether your data is overwritten or not.” Its product page likewise states that overwritten files cannot be recovered. Those are vendor statements, not an independently measured result.
This source set found no reproducible test on real devices or backups, so it cannot assign TunesKit a recovery percentage or promise that a scan preview will produce a usable file. Treat a visible preview as evidence that the software found something potentially recoverable, not proof of complete recovery.

Data types TunesKit lists
The technical reference names the following categories:
- Photos and videos
- Messages and iMessages
- Contacts
- Notes
- WhatsApp, Viber, Kik, Line, Snapchat, WeChat and Skype messages, attachments or app media
- Call history
- Safari bookmarks and history
- Voice memos
- Calendar entries
- Reminders
The product page markets “20+” data types. That is a vendor scope claim, not a measurement of how many categories can be successfully recovered in practice.
Disabled, damaged or inaccessible devices
Disabled iPhone
TunesKit says a disabled iOS device can be recovered only through an iTunes or iCloud backup, not directly from the device. If no usable backup exists, the documented workflow does not provide a supported route around the passcode or disabled state.
Device that still works
For direct scanning, the phone must connect over USB and accept the “Trust” prompt. If it cannot boot, cannot stay connected, or cannot be trusted, evaluate the backup modes instead.

How to decide whether it is worth buying
- Buy cautiously after previewing if the needed items appear clearly, you have a compatible computer, and exporting them to that computer meets your goal.
- Do not buy on the hope of a guaranteed undelete. TunesKit expressly disclaims a 100% success rate and says overwritten data cannot be recovered.
- Prefer a backup route for a disabled phone. The documented direct-device mode does not apply to a disabled device.
- Compare alternatives on evidence, not “20+” claims. Check whether another tool supports your exact device, OS, data category and recovery source; previews the exact files before payment; explains where output is saved; and provides scenario-specific independent testing.
What this review can and cannot establish
TunesKit documents the three recovery sources, a scan-and-preview trial, computer-based output and the limitations above. No independent, reproducible recovery test was established for this review. Accordingly, there is no defensible success statistic, comparative winner or assurance that a previewed item will export intact. The most evidence-based approach is to scan first, inspect the precise results, and treat the purchase as a best-effort attempt.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a 100% success rate to recover data with TunesKit?
No. TunesKit’s FAQ says success depends on whether the data has been overwritten, and its product page says overwritten data cannot be recovered. No independent test establishes a percentage.
How can I know if I can recover the data I want?
Run the free scan and inspect the preview for the exact files. Seeing an item is encouraging but does not guarantee a complete or usable export.
Where does TunesKit save recovered files?
TunesKit’s FAQ says recovery saves data to the computer, not directly back to the iPhone.
