How to Redeem an Amazon Gift Card With the App or Website

To redeem a physical Amazon gift card, sign in to the Amazon account that should receive the funds, open Redeem a Gift Card on the website or go to Manage gift card balance in the app, enter or scan the claim code, and apply it. For an e-gift card, open its delivery link and choose Apply to your Amazon Account.

Redeem a physical gift card on Amazon’s website

1. Sign in to the Amazon account where you want the balance.

2. Open Redeem a Gift Card.

3. Reveal the claim code under the card’s peel-off or scratch-off section. Amazon says these codes are usually 14 or 15 characters and generally contain letters and numbers.

4. Enter the code and select Redeem or Apply to your balance.

3. Choose Redeem Gift Card, then type the claim code or scan it with your phone’s camera.

4. Follow the confirmation prompt and check that the balance appears on the account.

Apply an electronic gift card

An e-gift card may arrive without a separate claim code. Open the link in the Amazon email or text message while signed in to the intended account, then choose Apply to your Amazon Account. Check the signed-in account before applying: the value is credited to that account. Amazon’s electronic gift-card instructions explain the link-based process.

Can you redeem a gift card at checkout?

Yes. If a physical card has not already been redeemed, choose Use a gift card, voucher, or promo code during checkout, enter the claim code, and select Apply. This applies the card to that order; redeeming it to your account beforehand stores the value for a later eligible order. Amazon’s checkout instructions describe this option.

Where the balance goes and how it is used

After redemption, the value is stored in the Amazon account you used and automatically applies to the next eligible order. If that order costs more than the available gift-card balance, Amazon charges the remainder to the default payment method. Amazon gift-card funds cannot be used to buy other gift cards. If the claim code does not work

• Confirm that you are signed in to the account where you intend to keep the funds.

• Re-enter the code carefully, matching the characters printed on the card. The claim code is usually beneath a peel-off or scratch-off area.

• If the code is damaged or unreadable, use Amazon’s gift-card redemption help or contact Amazon customer support. Whether the value can be recovered depends on the card and its purchase record.

Keep the gift-card code private

Amazon warns: “DO NOT share Gift Card details with someone you don’t know or trust.” If you give a scammer the claim code, the funds may be spent before Amazon or law enforcement can be contacted. Do not share a code, PIN, or photo of the card with an unsolicited caller or texter, or with anyone demanding Amazon gift cards as off-site payment.
