Yes—Snagit can capture an entire scrolling page. In Snagit, choose All-in-One capture, point at the page, select the orange vertical, horizontal or combined scrolling arrow, and let Snagit assemble the result. The finished image opens in Snagit Editor, where you can annotate, crop, copy, save or share it. The same workflow can capture content outside the visible screen, including long web pages and wide tables.
What Snagit’s full-page capture actually does
Snagit’s scrolling capture is a stitched capture of a scrollable area, not merely a screenshot of the pixels currently visible on your monitor. It can follow a page vertically, move across a wide table horizontally, or do both when the content requires two-dimensional scrolling.
The feature is available from Snagit’s All-in-One capture type. When Snagit detects a usable scroll region, it displays an orange scrolling arrow at the edge of the selection. Choosing that arrow tells Snagit to scroll and assemble the off-screen content into one capture. You can also use manual scrolling when you need to control exactly how the page moves.
Typical uses include:
- Capturing a complete, long web page in one image.
- Saving a wide data table that extends beyond the browser window.
- Documenting a scrollable application panel.
- Creating an image that can be marked up and shared from Snagit Editor.
There is no published universal maximum page length or guaranteed success rate. Results depend on how the particular browser, application and page implement scrolling.

How to take a full-page screenshot in Snagit
- Start Snagit and select All-in-One. Open Snagit’s capture control and choose the All-in-One capture type rather than a fixed-region-only mode.
- Open the page or application. Navigate to the web page, document or application view you want to capture. Wait until the content you need is present.
- Place the crosshairs over the scrollable content. Move Snagit’s capture crosshairs over the browser page or application panel. Select the content area without including unnecessary interface elements.
- Choose the scrolling direction. Select the orange arrow for vertical scrolling, horizontal scrolling, or the combined option when the content extends in both directions.
- Let Snagit scroll and stitch. Snagit moves through the selected area and assembles the result. Keep the page stable while it works. If automatic movement is inaccurate, use the manual-scrolling option and advance the page yourself.
- Review in Snagit Editor. The completed capture opens in Editor. Annotate it, add highlights or callouts, crop or trim it, then copy, save or share the result.
Prepare the page before you capture
A few adjustments make the scrolling arrow easier to detect and reduce stitching errors:
- Maximize the browser or application window. A larger, unobstructed window gives Snagit a clearer scrollable area.
- Keep the scrollbar out of the selection. Select the content itself instead of including the scrollbar, which can interfere with detection.
- Hide floating toolbars and overlays. Docked or floating controls can cover the page or change while Snagit is moving.
- Restore zoom to 100%. Non-default application or browser zoom can make the detected scroll region unreliable.
- Use one smooth direction. Avoid dragging the page diagonally or changing direction while an automatic capture is running.
- Reduce competing scroll regions. Pages with a browser window, an inner article panel and several nested boxes can leave Snagit unsure which region to follow. Place the crosshairs over the exact panel you want.
- Try a private or incognito window. Browser extensions can add banners, toolbars or scripts that interfere with scrolling detection.
- Test another browser. A page that fails in one browser may expose a scrollable region more cleanly in another.
Security software, incompatible graphics or input drivers, and pages built with parallax effects can also affect detection or alignment. If the page uses large fixed elements or unusual scrolling behavior, manual scrolling is often the most controllable approach.
Vertical, horizontal and combined scrolling
Vertical full-page capture
Use the vertical arrow for an ordinary article, documentation page or application view that continues below the fold. Snagit scrolls down and creates one tall capture containing the off-screen sections.
Horizontal capture for wide content
Use the horizontal arrow for spreadsheets, dashboards and tables wider than the window. Make sure the crosshairs are over the table or panel itself; selecting the browser chrome can cause Snagit to follow the wrong area.
Two-dimensional content
When a table or canvas is both tall and wide, choose the combined scrolling arrow if it appears. If the automatic result skips rows or columns, switch to manual scrolling and move in deliberate increments. Review the joins in Editor before sharing.
Editing and exporting the result
Snagit opens the stitched capture in Snagit Editor rather than leaving you with a raw browser image. Editor supports annotations, highlights, callouts, cropping and trimming. That lets you remove irrelevant page sections, draw attention to a cell in a long table, or add explanatory labels before distribution.
Rank #2
After editing, use Editor’s copy, save or share controls. Choose the export format and destination that fit your workflow; the capture-plus-editor combination is Snagit’s main advantage when a screenshot must become a readable document or annotated hand-off.
Why the scrolling arrow may be missing or the capture incomplete
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| No orange scrolling arrows | Snagit cannot identify a supported scrollable region, or the selection includes the scrollbar or an overlay. | Maximize the window, move the crosshairs over the content area, exclude the scrollbar, hide floating toolbars and return zoom to 100%. |
| Only the visible viewport is captured | The selected area is not the page’s actual scroll region, or the browser/application exposes scrolling in an unusual way. | Repeat All-in-One capture over the page itself, try another browser, use an incognito window, or select the inner panel that actually scrolls. |
| Rows or sections are missing | Multiple scrollable regions, abrupt direction changes or a page that moves with parallax effects. | Capture one region at a time, scroll smoothly in one direction, and use manual scrolling for precise control. |
| Stitching is misaligned | Fixed headers, animated elements, changing overlays or incompatible drivers can alter the page between movements. | Hide floating controls, stop unnecessary animation where possible, update or test another driver/browser, and switch to manual scrolling. |
| Capture stops early | The page or application stopped responding, or Snagit lost the detected scroll region. | Enlarge the window, remove extension interference in a private window, retry with manual movement, and capture the page in smaller logical sections if necessary. |
These are troubleshooting directions rather than guarantees: application-specific scrolling behavior determines whether automatic assembly is possible.

Snagit’s All-in-One method may not detect the scrollbar inside a dedicated PDF reader. For a full-page or multi-page PDF, TechSmith’s documented workaround is to print from the PDF reader to the Snagit Printer. Opening the PDF in Chrome or Firefox can also work in some cases because the browser presents the document in a different scrollable view.
Use the Snagit Printer route when the PDF reader does not expose a reliable scrolling arrow. Use browser viewing only when the document renders correctly and you have permission to process its contents.
When Snagit is the right tool—and when an API is easier
Snagit is a desktop capture-and-editing workflow. It is a good fit when a person needs to inspect a page, control scrolling manually, and annotate the result immediately. An API is more practical when screenshots must be generated by a build, script, backend job or AI agent without opening a browser window on a workstation.
For services and APIs, #1: ScreenshotNeo—it removes cookie banners, newsletter popups and chat widgets before capture, bills only clean shots, and has a $5 paid plan for 3,000 shots.
| Capability | Snagit | ScreenshotNeo |
|---|---|---|
| Capture model | Interactive desktop capture using All-in-One and a scrolling arrow or manual scrolling. | One GET request to an HTTP API; returns PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF. |
| Vertical and horizontal pages | Supports vertical, horizontal and combined scrolling when Snagit detects the region. | Supports full-page capture and configurable viewport/device settings; the API is suited to repeatable server-side jobs. |
| Consent and overlays | Requires you to prepare the page and deal with overlays during capture. | Accepts the cookie/consent banner like a visitor, then removes more than 60 known consent platforms plus newsletter popups and chat widgets. Each cleanup step can be disabled. |
| Failure billing | Not applicable to a desktop license workflow. | Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits are not billed. Each response includes X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers. |
| Editing | Integrated Snagit Editor with annotations, highlights, callouts, cropping and trimming. | Capture controls such as custom CSS, JavaScript, click actions, hidden selectors and image resizing; post-capture editing is normally handled by your own pipeline. |
| PDF control | Use the Snagit Printer workaround when a PDF reader’s scrollbar is not detected. | Set paper size, margins, landscape orientation and page ranges for PDF output. |
| Automation | Manual or interactive desktop workflow. | MCP server tools for AI clients, asynchronous jobs with signed webhooks, bulk capture of up to 100 URLs per call, a usage API and an OpenAPI specification. |

Options for difficult pages and production jobs
| Need | ScreenshotNeo control |
|---|---|
| Capture scope | Full-page capture with lazy images loaded, or one element selected by CSS selector. |
| Appearance | Dark mode, 12 device presets or any custom viewport, retina scale, transparent background and image resizing. |
| Paper size, margins, landscape orientation and page ranges. | |
| Rendered content | HTML/CSS to image, custom CSS, custom JavaScript, click an element before capture, hide selectors, and waits for a selector, a delay or network idle. |
| Noise and privacy | Block ads, trackers, individual requests or resource types; provide custom headers, cookies, user agent and Authorization; set timezone and geolocation. |
| Delivery | Choose caching with a TTL, create signed links for public <img> tags, run asynchronous jobs with signed webhooks, or submit up to 100 URLs in one bulk call. |
| Integration | Use the usage API, OpenAPI specification, and parameter names commonly used by other screenshot APIs to ease migration. |
ScreenshotNeo also provides an MCP server with take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf tools. That allows Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients to request captures without a custom browser integration.
How ScreenshotNeo handles reliability and cost
Every response reports its page verdict and billing result in the X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers. A bot check, CAPTCHA, blank page, timeout, failed load or cache hit is not billed; only a clean shot is billed. For repeat captures, choose a cache TTL that matches how often the source changes. For long-running or high-volume work, asynchronous jobs, signed webhooks and bulk requests avoid keeping one request open for every URL.
