Fastest answer: use your browser’s built-in full-page capture. In Microsoft Edge, press Ctrl+Shift+S (Windows or macOS keyboards) and choose Capture full page. In Firefox, right-click the page, choose Take Screenshot, then Save full page. On an iPhone, take a Safari screenshot, tap its preview, select Full Page, and save or share it. These commands capture content below the fold without manually scrolling.
What a whole-page screenshot captures
A normal screenshot records only the visible browser window. A full-page screenshot renders the document from top to bottom and combines it into one tall image, or—on some phones and browsers—a PDF. It is useful for archiving an article, reviewing a long design, documenting a bug, or sharing a page layout.
The result is different from a screenshot of an inner panel. A page may contain a separate scrollable chat, table, dashboard, or modal. Browser full-page commands generally capture the document itself, not every independently scrolling box. For a nested panel, use Firefox Developer Tools or a dedicated capture tool that supports an element selector.
Microsoft Edge: capture the entire webpage
- Open the page in Edge and wait for the initial load to finish.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S. On macOS, use the Screenshot command from the Edge menu if that shortcut is assigned differently on your installation.
- Choose Capture full page.
- Review the long image in the preview. Use the available annotation tools if required.
- Save the file or copy it to the clipboard.
Edge’s full-page command is designed to capture an entire webpage, including content extending beyond the screen. If the page continues changing while the capture runs, wait for animations, ads, and lazy-loaded sections to settle, then try again.

Firefox desktop: save the full page
- Open the webpage in Firefox.
- Right-click an empty area and select Take Screenshot. You can also press Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+S on macOS.
- In the screenshot toolbar, select Save full page.
- Download the PNG or use the copy control shown by your Firefox version.
Firefox’s screenshot tool can capture the complete document even when most of it is below the visible viewport. If the context-menu item is missing, open the browser menu and search for “screenshot,” or use Developer Tools as the fallback below.
Firefox Developer Tools: the flexible fallback
Developer Tools is useful when the normal menu is unavailable, when you need one element rather than the whole document, or when a page uses complex scrolling.
- Open Developer Tools with F12 or Ctrl+Shift+I (Windows/Linux), or Command+Option+I (macOS).
- Open the Developer Tools screenshot control. In Firefox versions that expose the command line, open the command prompt and use the screenshot command with the fullpage option.
- For a whole document, enable fullpage and run the command. Firefox saves the result to Downloads by default.
- To capture one component, inspect that element first, then invoke the element screenshot command rather than full-page capture.
This method can capture either the entire page or a selected element. It is also a practical fallback when a site’s own layout confuses the browser’s regular screenshot picker.

iPhone Safari: take a long screenshot
- Open the page in Safari and take a normal screenshot using your iPhone’s hardware buttons.
- Immediately tap the screenshot thumbnail that appears.
- At the top of the preview, select Full Page.
- Use the page preview to confirm that the required content is included.
- Save to Photos when offered, or use the share controls to save the full-page result to Files or export it as a PDF.
Safari’s Full Page mode is intended for webpages and may produce a PDF-oriented document rather than a desktop-style, very tall PNG. If you need a single raster image, check the available share and save options on your iOS version or use a desktop browser.

Android and other phones
Android screenshot controls vary by manufacturer and Android edition. Look for a button labeled Capture more, Scroll capture, or Long screenshot immediately after taking a normal screenshot. If that control does not appear, the browser or device may not support system-level scrolling capture for that page. In that case, use the desktop procedures, print the page to PDF, or use a reputable extension after checking its current permissions and privacy policy.

Why a full-page capture can be incomplete
Lazy-loaded images and sections
Some sites request images only when they approach the viewport. A browser may capture the document before those requests occur, leaving blank areas. Scroll through the page once, wait for image placeholders to resolve, then capture again. An automated service can also wait for a selector, a delay, or network idle.

Virtualized lists
Dashboards and feeds may render only the rows currently visible. Scrolling changes which rows exist in the DOM, so a full-page command cannot necessarily reconstruct every item. Use the application’s export function, a print view, or a capture workflow designed for the specific component.
Independent scroll containers
A page may look long while the content is actually inside a fixed-height element with its own scrollbar. Capture that element separately, or temporarily expand it with CSS if you control the page.

Animated banners can appear in different positions across the stitched image, and sticky navigation may repeat at each segment. Pause animation where possible, wait for a stable state, or hide the selector before capture. For evidence or bug reports, record the page URL and capture time because live content can change.
Bot checks and consent dialogs
A cookie banner, newsletter popup, chat widget, login wall, or bot check can cover the page or prevent it from loading. Dismiss the dialog before using a browser command. Do not attempt to bypass an access control that you are not authorized to pass.
When the browser command fails
The full-page option is missing
- Update the browser and retry from a normal webpage tab rather than a browser settings page.
- Use Firefox Developer Tools for a whole-document or element capture.
- Check whether an extension or enterprise policy has disabled screenshot features.
The image stops halfway down
- Reload and let the page finish loading.
- Disable or pause animations and close overlays.
- Scroll through the page once to trigger lazy content, then capture again.
- Try a different browser or print/export to PDF.
The result is blank or shows an error page
- Confirm that the page itself works in a normal tab and that you are signed in when required.
- Wait for redirects and security checks to complete.
- Capture a permitted public or authenticated page rather than a blocked endpoint.
The file is too large to share
A very tall PNG can exceed messaging or image-editor limits. Save a PDF, resize the image, split it into sections, or share the original URL alongside a shorter excerpt. Keep the original file if it is evidence that may need to be inspected later.

- Browser capture: free and immediate for occasional work, but dependent on the page’s current state, your device memory, and browser behavior.

Why is text or an image missing below the fold?
The page may lazy-load content, virtualize a list, use an inner scrollbar, or still be loading. Wait, scroll once, close overlays, and retry; use Developer Tools or an automated capture with an explicit wait when necessary.
What is the difference between full-page and scrolling screenshots?
A full-page command renders the document beyond the viewport. A scrolling screenshot repeatedly moves through the page and stitches segments. The latter can struggle with sticky elements and changing layouts.
Do I need an extension for a long webpage screenshot?
No. Edge, Firefox, Firefox Developer Tools, and iPhone Safari provide built-in options. Extensions are a fallback when those tools cannot capture the required scope or format.
