To take a long screenshot on an iPhone 16, open the page, quickly press and release the Side button and Volume Up together, tap the thumbnail, choose Full Page, then save the result to Photos as an image or to Files as a PDF. Apple documents this workflow for full webpages in Safari; the Full Page control may not appear for every app or type of content.
What the iPhone 16 long-screenshot feature does
A normal screenshot records only the visible iPhone display. The Full Page option extends the capture beyond the screen so you can keep an entire supported webpage in one result. You select this option after taking the initial screenshot, not from the Camera or Photos app.
Apple’s documented example is a webpage open in Safari. Other apps may expose the same control, but Apple does not promise scrolling capture for every app. If Full Page is missing, the practical fallback is to take separate screenshots or use that app’s own export or share function.
How to take a scrolling screenshot on iPhone 16
- Open the content. In Safari, load the webpage you want to capture and position it anywhere on the page. The feature is intended for supported, scrollable content rather than a collection of unrelated screens.
- Take a screenshot. Quickly press and release the Side button and Volume Up button at the same time. Do not hold either button; holding them can invoke other iPhone controls instead of making a screenshot.
- Open the editor. A thumbnail appears briefly in the lower-left corner. Tap it before it disappears. If you miss it, take the screenshot again.
- Switch to Full Page. At the top of the screenshot editor, tap Full Page. If that tab is not present, the current content does not offer Apple’s full-page capture in that context.
- Review the long capture. Drag the preview on the right side of the editor to inspect content farther down the page. This lets you check that the page extends far enough and that important sections were loaded before saving.
- Crop if needed. Tap Crop, then drag the handles to remove unwanted edges or sections. Cropping is useful when the webpage includes a header, footer or side area that the recipient does not need.
- Save in the format you need. Choose Save to Photos for an image, or choose Save PDF to Files and select a Files location for a document.
Where the long screenshot is saved
Image saved to Photos
When you choose Save to Photos, open Photos > Collections > Media Types > Screenshots to find it. From there you can edit, annotate, share or move the image like other pictures. A very tall image can be awkward to read in a message thread, so consider whether a PDF is more suitable before sending it.

PDF saved to Files
Save PDF to Files asks you to choose a folder, such as On My iPhone or a cloud storage location configured in Files. A PDF is generally the better hand-off when the recipient expects a document, needs to scroll through pages, or plans to print or archive the capture.
Image or PDF: which output should you choose?

Neither option changes the webpage itself. The capture is a snapshot of the supported content as it appeared when you made it, so verify that images, menus and sections had finished loading before saving.
How to get a cleaner, more useful capture
Load the page before capturing
Wait for the page to finish loading and scroll through important areas once if it uses lazy-loaded images. A section that has not loaded when the screenshot is created may not appear as expected. If the page requires a sign-in, complete that first and make sure you are allowed to share the resulting content.

Use Crop deliberately
The crop handles can remove browser or page material that distracts from the subject. Keep enough context to show the page title, date or other identifying information when the screenshot is being used as evidence. For a private message or account page, crop out unrelated personal data before sharing.
Check the full-page preview
Drag through the preview on the right rather than saving immediately. Look for abrupt cutoffs, repeated sections, blank areas or a page that ends earlier than expected. If the preview is incomplete, return to Safari, let more content load and repeat the capture.
Choose the recipient’s format
Use an image when the recipient needs to see a visual layout in a chat or image editor. Use a PDF when the recipient needs a long, document-like file. If someone asks for “the entire webpage,” ask whether they need an editable document or simply a visual record; the built-in tool creates a capture, not the original webpage source.

What to do when Full Page is missing
The screenshot editor only shows Full Page when the current content supports it. Apple’s official example is Safari, so test the same page there if you were in another app. If the tab still does not appear, the limitation is with that content or app rather than the Side-plus-Volume-Up shortcut.
- Take several ordinary screenshots and keep them in order.
- Use the app’s own export, print or share command if it offers one.
- Copy the page link and share the URL when a visual capture is not required.
- For a webpage you control, create a PDF or image outside the iPhone and send that file instead.
Do not confuse the thumbnail editor’s Crop control with Full Page. Crop changes the boundaries of a capture you already made; it does not make a short screenshot scrollable.
Troubleshooting the iPhone 16 workflow
No screenshot appears
Press and quickly release the Side and Volume Up buttons together. If you hold them, press them at different times or use Volume Down, the expected screenshot may not be created. Try again with a brief, simultaneous press.

The thumbnail vanished
The thumbnail is temporary. Capture the screen again and tap the new thumbnail immediately. You can still find completed captures in Photos, but you must open the thumbnail to access Full Page and the save controls.
Full Page is not shown
Open a webpage in Safari and repeat the process. If Full Page remains unavailable, Apple has not provided scrolling capture for that particular content. Use separate screenshots or the app’s export feature instead.
The capture stops before the bottom
Return to the source page, wait for content and images to load, then capture again. Review the right-hand preview before saving. A page that changes while loading, requires interaction or does not expose a supported full-page structure may not produce the result you expect.

The saved file is hard to find
Images are in Photos > Collections > Media Types > Screenshots. PDFs go to the Files folder you selected in the save dialog. If you selected cloud storage, check that service’s folder in Files rather than Photos.
The result contains private information
Before sharing, inspect the entire preview, not only the top portion. Crop out account identifiers, addresses, messages or other information that the recipient does not need. Remember that a full-page image or PDF can include content far below the initial screen.
