Choose Site Kit if you want a free, straightforward connection between WordPress and Google services such as Analytics and Search Console. Choose MonsterInsights when you need its WordPress-focused reports or vendor-described tracking for forms, ecommerce, media, or other specialized events and those capabilities justify a paid plan.
Neither plugin is a universal winner. The practical choice depends on which reports you need, where you want to view them, and how you will prevent duplicate tags and events.
MonsterInsights and Site Kit in one sentence
Both plugins connect WordPress with Google Analytics. Site Kit by Google is broader: Google positions it as the official WordPress plugin for deploying, managing, and viewing insights from several Google products. MonsterInsights concentrates on bringing Analytics reports into the WordPress dashboard and adding tracking workflows that its vendor says go beyond the basic connection.
Google Analytics Help says, “You can integrate your Google Analytics account with MonsterInsights (WordPress) for free.” That describes the Analytics integration; it does not mean every MonsterInsights report or tracking feature is included in the free Lite tier.

What Site Kit is better at
Connecting several Google products
Site Kit is designed as a central WordPress connection for Google services rather than only an Analytics-reporting plugin. The competing MonsterInsights comparison describes a consolidated view that can include Analytics, Search Console, Ads, AdSense, and PageSpeed Insights, with traffic, search, content, speed, and monetization reports. That inventory is a vendor-authored description, so check Google’s current Site Kit documentation for the services and reports available to your site.
A free, high-level dashboard
If you mainly need an overview of traffic and performance without purchasing a reporting add-on, Site Kit is the simpler starting point. Google’s Analytics documentation says Site Kit displays Analytics data in its dashboard and lets you open Analytics for additional detail.
Google-managed Analytics setup
During GA4 Analytics-module setup, Google says Site Kit can create a Google tag when one does not already exist and gives you a choice about placing the snippet when connecting a property. That convenience is useful, but it makes an inventory of existing tags essential before you finish setup.

What MonsterInsights is better at
Reports where you work in WordPress
MonsterInsights’ vendor comparison focuses on viewing Analytics reports directly in the WordPress dashboard. This can suit site owners who do not want to switch repeatedly between WordPress and Google Analytics for routine checks.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →More specialized event tracking
MonsterInsights says its paid tiers add capabilities including scroll tracking, media tracking, form-submission tracking, ecommerce tracking, and expanded reporting. Treat these as vendor-supplied product claims, and confirm the exact feature and plan before purchase; availability can change by tier and version.

A free starting tier, with paid upgrades
The Lite version is described as free. Paid plans are required for the additional capabilities that matter to many stores and lead-generation sites. The live 2026 pricing result lists Plus at $99.50 per year on introductory pricing, with renewal at full price but no renewal figure stated. Because another MonsterInsights comparison shows $99.60 for Plus and $199.60 for Pro, use the current checkout as the authority rather than relying on either older figure.
Which plugin fits your situation?
Choose Site Kit when
- You want a free connection to Analytics and other Google services.
- A high-level WordPress dashboard is sufficient, with deeper analysis available in Google Analytics.
- You prefer Google’s official WordPress integration for configuring its services.
- You do not have a confirmed need for MonsterInsights-specific ecommerce, form, media, or scroll reports.
Consider MonsterInsights when
- You specifically want Analytics reports organized inside WordPress.
- You need a tracking workflow listed by MonsterInsights, such as ecommerce or form conversions.
- You have checked that the required feature is included in the Lite, Plus, Pro, or other plan you intend to use.
- The paid subscription cost and renewal terms are acceptable after reviewing the live offer.
Do not decide on speed or accuracy claims
No independent head-to-head test established a winner for page speed, Analytics accuracy, or support responsiveness. Select based on the workflow and features you can verify, not an assumed performance advantage.

Can you use MonsterInsights and Site Kit together?
Technically, a site can install both, but running both measurement configurations without a plan can create duplicate page views or events. MonsterInsights warns in its comparison that using both may duplicate measurement. Google also documents that Site Kit may place or manage the Google tag depending on your setup.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsBefore enabling either plugin, map every existing Analytics tag, Google tag, Google Tag Manager container, and event configuration. Decide which system owns the tag and each conversion event. After changes, use your site’s testing tools and the relevant Analytics real-time or debugging views to confirm that one page visit or conversion produces the intended event count.
Safe setup sequence
- Inventory existing measurement. Check theme files, consent tools, Google Tag Manager, other analytics plugins, and manually inserted scripts.
- Choose one tag owner. If Site Kit will manage the Google tag, avoid adding a second copy through MonsterInsights, a theme, or another plugin. If another system already owns it, follow the selected plugin’s option to avoid inserting an additional snippet.
- Connect the required property. For Site Kit, complete the Analytics module connection and review its snippet-placement choice. For MonsterInsights, connect the intended Analytics property and confirm the selected account and data stream.
- Configure only the events you need. Add ecommerce, form, media, scroll, or other events only after identifying whether an existing tag or plugin already sends them.
- Test delivery. Submit a test form, complete a test purchase when appropriate, and inspect Analytics debugging or real-time data. Compare event counts with the actions you performed.
- Document the final configuration. Record the tag owner, connected property, conversion names, consent behavior, and plugin settings so future changes do not reintroduce duplicates.
Does Site Kit track ecommerce?
The available product material does not establish a directly comparable, built-in ecommerce feature set for Site Kit. MonsterInsights’ own comparison specifically lists ecommerce tracking among its additional capabilities. If ecommerce measurement is decisive, verify the current Site Kit documentation, your store platform’s Analytics integration, and the exact MonsterInsights plan before choosing.
Bottom line
For most small WordPress sites that want a free, official connection to Google services, Site Kit is the sensible default. MonsterInsights is the better fit when its WordPress-oriented reports or specialized tracking solve a specific measurement problem and the required paid tier is worth the cost. Whichever you choose, establish one clear tag-and-event configuration and test it; dashboard differences are not proof that tracking is correct or incorrect.
