To add products from a WordPress store to Google Shopping, connect WooCommerce to Google Merchant Center with the official Google for WooCommerce extension, submit your catalog, then resolve any account or product issues Google reports. Syncing submits product data; it does not guarantee approval or visibility.
Before you start
The steps below apply to a store running WooCommerce. The official Google for WooCommerce extension is documented for WooCommerce, not every WordPress store or ecommerce plugin. If your store uses a different commerce platform, use an integration intended for it rather than assuming this setup will work.
Have access to the Google account you want to use and be ready to provide store, shipping, and tax information. WooCommerce’s setup guidance also calls out server compatibility, store policies, secure checkout, and contact information. Stores selling outside the US and Canada should check the guidance on displaying tax-inclusive prices. Connect WooCommerce to Merchant Center
- In your WordPress dashboard, install and open the official Google for WooCommerce extension.
- Follow its setup flow to connect a Google account and select an existing Merchant Center account or create one.
- Complete the requested store setup, including audience, shipping, and applicable tax details.
- Finish the connection and open the extension’s Product Feed area to check whether products are syncing and whether Google has reported issues.

Prepare product data for review
Before expecting products to become eligible, make sure each listing has the core information Google needs. WooCommerce identifies the following as important product data:
- Title and description
- Product ID
- Product link
- Product image
- Applicable unique product identifiers and category-specific attributes
Some categories need more detail. WooCommerce flags apparel, media, books, and electronics as examples with additional data needs. If you use custom global attributes, they may need to be mapped to Google’s corresponding fields. Check WooCommerce’s product-feed documentation for feed details.
Check product and account issues
In WordPress, go to Marketing > Google for WooCommerce > Product Feed. Review the Account Issues and Product Issues tabs, then read the specific issue attached to an account or item before changing settings or product data.

A product’s feed status may be not synced, pending, active, expiring, or disapproved. Pending means it is awaiting review; disapproved products are not active. Correct the reported account or product information and allow the updated data to sync and be reviewed. A successful submission alone does not mean a product is approved or appearing to shoppers.
Choose which products to show
The feed includes a channel-visibility setting for each product: Sync and Show or Don’t Sync and Show. WooCommerce says products are added to the feed and set to Sync and Show by default during setup. You can change visibility for products you do not want included. WooCommerce says visibility changes sync automatically within one to two days; it also notes that active listings can take several days to appear. Those are the timings stated in its documentation and may vary. See the feed documentation.

The extension is not the only way to provide products to Merchant Center. Google documents file, Google Sheets, and API data sources. Choose based on how your store maintains its catalog, catalog size, need for ongoing synchronization, and who will maintain the data source.

Free listings do not require an ad campaign
Submitting products for free listings and setting up paid advertising are separate decisions. Google for WooCommerce documentation covers Performance Max campaigns as an additional option, not a prerequisite for syncing products to Merchant Center. See the extension documentation.
