Choose Squarespace for polished templates and bundled business tools, Wix for editing freedom and apps, Shopify when selling products is the main job, WordPress.com for publishing and plugins, Webflow for advanced visual control, or Hostinger when a low introductory price matters after checking the prepaid term and renewal rate. Weebly, GoDaddy and Framer can also fit narrower needs.
These are different tools rather than a single ranked list. Your site type, location, billing term, ecommerce requirements and migration needs should determine the shortlist.
What to compare before leaving Jimdo
Assess each service against the work your site must perform:
- Design: template quality, layout freedom and responsive controls.
- Editing overhead: how much technical knowledge is needed to maintain pages and content.
- Commerce: products, payments, inventory, shipping, bookings and transaction costs.
- Publishing: blogging, CMS features, plugins and content workflows.
- Business tools: forms, email or marketing integrations, appointments and invoicing.
- Cost: the exact plan, prepaid commitment, renewal price, tax, domain and add-ons.
- Portability: domain connection, content import, URL redirects and ecommerce-data migration.
A brochure site, a publication and a store have different priorities, so a single score would be misleading.

Best Jimdo alternatives by use case
Squarespace: best for design-led business websites
Squarespace is the strongest general replacement when presentation and an all-in-one business toolkit matter. Its professionally designed templates, built-in marketing, ecommerce, service selling, appointments, invoicing and other business features reduce the need for separate services. A Squarespace comparison article published August 15, 2025 listed a starting point of $16 per month on annual billing, while directing customers to location-specific pricing. Treat that figure as a dated reference, not a universal current price.
Choose it for a consultancy, portfolio, restaurant, service business or small shop that wants a controlled visual system. It is less suitable if you need unrestricted page-level design or a large plugin ecosystem.
Wix: best for flexible editing and app extensions
Wix combines drag-and-drop editing, AI-assisted setup, many templates and an app marketplace. Booking and ecommerce features are available, but selling requires an appropriate higher-tier plan. That flexibility can also create a steeper learning curve than a tightly constrained builder.
The pricing display accessed on September 30, 2026 showed a free tier and Light at US$17.77 per month including GST. Wix notes that currency and prices vary by location and that displayed yearly rates are paid in full at purchase. Confirm the checkout total and the plan needed for your features.
Recommended Free Tools
Shopify: best when the website is primarily a store
Shopify should be evaluated separately from brochure-site builders. Its Basic plan is positioned for solo entrepreneurs and includes a full online store and selling tools. The official pricing display lists US$29 per month when billed annually or US$39 month to month.
It is a good Jimdo replacement when catalog, checkout, inventory and store operations dominate the job. For a simple portfolio or information site, its commerce-first structure may add unnecessary cost and complexity.
WordPress.com: best for publishing and hosted plugins
WordPress.com is the hosted WordPress service, not the self-hosted WordPress.org setup. It offers a mature blogging and CMS environment with plugin support, making it attractive for publishers and sites that expect to extend functionality over time. Customization, updates and plugin choices can require more technical judgment than Jimdo.
The Personal pricing display accessed showed US$4 per month for annual billing, alongside other term-dependent prices, a free domain for one year and 6 GB of storage. Renewal terms and included features vary, so check the current plan page before switching.

Webflow: best for advanced visual design control
Webflow provides detailed styling, interactions and CMS controls for designers who need more control than a conventional drag-and-drop builder. Its learning curve is higher, and ecommerce is associated with higher-tier plans; do not assume a basic Webflow plan includes a store.
It fits a design-led marketing site or custom front end when someone on the team can manage the platform. It is not the easiest choice for a first-time site owner seeking the quickest setup.
Hostinger Website Builder: best for a low introductory price
Hostinger’s builder emphasizes AI-assisted creation and basic ecommerce. The displayed promotion accessed on September 30, 2026 required a 48-month prepayment:
| Plan | Promotional display | Upfront total for 48 months | Displayed renewal |
|---|---|---|---|
| Premium | $2.99/month | $143.52 | $10.99/month |
| Unlimited | $3.99/month | $191.52 | $16.99/month |
These were promotional prices at access time, not guaranteed future offers. Compare the required term, renewal amount, taxes, domain and any add-ons rather than calling Hostinger simply “the cheapest.”
Rank #4
Weebly: best for straightforward small-business selling
The comparison describes ecommerce on all plan levels and integration with Square point-of-sale tools. That combination can suit a small business that wants a relatively simple web store connected to in-person sales. Verify current plan features and regional availability before committing.
GoDaddy: best for bundled setup and marketing
GoDaddy combines an editor with AI site setup and marketing tools. Ecommerce and bookings are associated with higher-level plans in the comparison. Because the exact feature set and price depend on location and plan, use the current checkout details rather than a generic feature list.
Framer: best for design-focused publishing without native ecommerce
Framer offers detailed layout control and collaboration for visually distinctive sites. Built-in ecommerce is absent, so selling requires third-party tools. It is a good fit for a landing page, portfolio or design-forward marketing site, not a store that needs native catalog and order management.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Pricing: why the displayed numbers are not directly comparable
The figures above come from different currencies, tax displays, billing commitments and promotional windows. Hostinger’s low monthly amounts require four years paid in advance and rise at renewal. Shopify shows separate annual and monthly rates. WordPress.com displays term-dependent prices and a renewal caveat. Wix’s displayed amount included GST and was tied to a yearly purchase. Squarespace’s $16 reference came from an August 2025 vendor article and may differ by region.

How to switch from Jimdo without losing important content
- Inventory the current site. List the domain, every page URL, images, blog posts, forms, products, appointments and integrations.
- Map requirements to a plan. Confirm that the candidate supports your required content types, payments, bookings and integrations at the quoted tier.
- Check migration mechanics. Ask the provider whether it can import or export your content, preserve media, create URL redirects and migrate product or customer data. The reviewed provider pages did not establish consistent export or redirect support across all alternatives.
- Plan the domain move. Jimdo says premium customers can transfer an existing domain or leave it registered elsewhere and connect it to the new site. Follow the new provider’s DNS instructions and keep the old site available during propagation.
- Rebuild and test. Check mobile layouts, forms, checkout, appointments, analytics, metadata and every important redirect before changing DNS.
- Monitor after launch. Watch search-console errors, form submissions and orders, and retain an offline copy of text and media.
A practical shortlist
| Your priority | Start with | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Polished templates and business tools | Squarespace | Less unrestricted than a fully open system |
| Drag-and-drop freedom and apps | Wix | More choices can mean more setup decisions |
| Product sales and store operations | Shopify | Commerce features may be excessive for a simple site |
| Blogging, CMS and plugins | WordPress.com | Greater technical and maintenance responsibility |
| Custom visual interactions | Webflow | Steeper learning curve |
| Lowest advertised introductory commitment | Hostinger | Large prepaid term and higher renewal |
| Simple Square-connected selling | Weebly | Verify current availability and roadmap |
| Design-first publishing | Framer | No native ecommerce |
Bottom line
There is no universal Jimdo winner. Squarespace is the balanced design-and-business choice; Wix is the flexible editor; Shopify is the store specialist; WordPress.com is the publishing platform; Webflow is for advanced design control; and Hostinger is compelling only when its long prepaid promotion and renewal price work for you. Confirm the current regional plan, total cost and migration path before cancelling Jimdo.
