The dependable built-in method is Google Sheets’ print workflow: open the sheet on a computer, choose File > Print, select Workbook, then click Next. This creates a print/PDF result that may span several pages. It does not promise one tall PNG. If you need one image, capture a selected range with a suitable range-to-PNG extension, or use a screenshot API for a public or otherwise accessible sheet.
Decide what “full” means first
Google Sheets can be “full” in several different ways. Choose the scope before exporting so you do not accidentally omit tabs or produce an unreadably huge image.
- Entire workbook: every tab in the spreadsheet file.
- Current sheet: only the tab that is open.
- Selected cells: a specific rectangular range you highlight first.
- One tall image: a single PNG with no page breaks. Google’s built-in print command is not designed to guarantee this format.
The first three are explicit print scopes. “One image” is a separate output requirement and needs a range-to-image workflow or an external capture service.
Export the complete workbook to PDF or print
- Open the spreadsheet in Google Sheets on a computer.
- Choose File > Print.
- In the print-scope menu, choose Workbook. Choose Current sheet for only the open tab, or Selected cells after selecting a range.
- Review the preview and adjust the print settings described below.
- Click Next.
- In Chrome, use the print window’s destination options to print or save. In Firefox or Safari, Google’s workflow downloads a PDF automatically; open that PDF if you need to print or share it.
Workbook means the spreadsheet file across its tabs. It does not mean that every tab will be compressed into one page or one image. Long or wide data normally becomes a multi-page PDF.

Make a long or wide sheet readable
Use the print preview as a quality check rather than assuming the default scaling is suitable. The following controls are available in Google Sheets’ print settings.
Choose orientation and paper size
Use Landscape when columns are being split across pages. Select a paper size that matches the destination printer or PDF reader. Portrait can be easier to read for narrow tables; landscape generally gives wide tables more horizontal room.
Control margins and page breaks
Adjust margins to balance usable table width against whitespace. Use custom page breaks when a logical section should start on a new page or when automatic breaks divide a table awkwardly. Inspect every break in preview: shrinking everything to force fewer pages can make text too small to use.
Repeat frozen headers
For a multi-page result, repeating the header row or a key column makes later pages understandable. First freeze the relevant row or column from View > Freeze. Then enable the option to repeat frozen rows or columns in the print settings. Repeat only labels that genuinely identify the data; repeating several large rows can consume valuable page space.
Prepare the sheet before printing
- Hide helper columns and rows that are not part of the deliverable.
- Set sensible column widths and row heights rather than relying on severe print scaling.
- Confirm filters, hidden tabs, and grouped rows reflect what you intend to share.
- Use a descriptive file name when saving the PDF, especially if the workbook contains several tabs.
Capture one tab or a selected range
Current tab
Open the tab you need, choose File > Print, select Current sheet, and continue through the preview. This avoids exporting unrelated tabs while preserving the tab’s full printable area.

Selected cells
Drag across the required cells before opening the print command. Select Selected cells in the scope menu. This is useful for a report excerpt, but it is easy to miss rows or columns if the selection border is not checked carefully.
One selected range as PNG
A Chrome Web Store listing for Mink Sheets to Image describes exporting a selected Google Sheets range as PNG, copying it to the clipboard, downloading it, and stitching multi-page ranges. The listing says it uses Google Sheets’ PDF export and processes the image locally without an intermediary server; those are publisher disclosures, not an independent audit. Its listed update date is August 14, 2026.
Its documented use case is a selected range. The listing does not establish that it captures every tab in an entire workbook as one image. Before using any extension on sensitive data, check its current permissions and publisher details, then test it on a non-sensitive sample. Verify the first and last rows and columns in the resulting PNG.
Why a browser full-page extension may miss sheet data
General full-page extensions capture a browser page, not necessarily every row and column in Google Sheets’ virtualized grid. A listing for GoFullPage describes general full-page capture, but its description does not verify that all virtualized Sheets rows and columns are rendered and included. Do not treat a generic extension as a proven full-workbook solution without testing the exact sheet.
If you test one, use a copy of the sheet containing known values at the bottom and far-right edge. Compare those values with the output, and check whether frozen panes, hidden rows, formulas, and horizontally scrolled columns were included.

PDF versus one large PNG
| Requirement | Best starting point | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| All tabs in a spreadsheet file | File > Print > Workbook | Print/PDF output can span many pages. |
| One open tab | File > Print > Current sheet | Still print-oriented, not guaranteed to be one image. |
| Specific cells | Select cells, then File > Print > Selected cells | Selection mistakes can omit data. |
| One PNG of a range | Range-to-image extension such as the described Mink workflow | Third-party behavior and permissions require your verification; full-workbook capture is not established. |
| Repeatable capture of an accessible URL | Screenshot API | The sheet must be reachable with the URL and any required access credentials. |
Common problems and fixes
The printout contains only one tab
Cause: the scope is set to Current sheet. Fix: return to File > Print and choose Workbook.
The output is too small to read
Cause: scaling is fitting too many columns onto each page. Fix: switch to landscape, use a larger paper size, adjust margins, set page breaks, or export a narrower selected range. A multi-page readable PDF is preferable to a single illegible image.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteColumns are split across pages
Cause: the table is wider than the printable area. Fix: widen the paper or use landscape, reduce unnecessary column width, and inspect custom page breaks in preview.
Headers disappear on later pages
Cause: repeated frozen rows or columns are not enabled. Fix: freeze the header from View > Freeze, then turn on the print option to repeat frozen rows or columns.
The PNG misses rows or columns
Cause: an extension captured only the rendered viewport or a smaller selection. Fix: verify the selected range before export, test the bottom and right edges, and use the built-in PDF workflow when completeness matters more than a single image.

A third-party extension requests unexpected access
Cause: extension permissions or behavior may have changed. Fix: review current permissions and publisher disclosures, avoid sensitive sheets until tested, and prefer Google’s built-in print workflow for confidential data.

Replace the example URL with the exact sheet or published view you are allowed to capture. ScreenshotNeo supports full-page capture with lazy images loaded, a CSS-selector element capture, custom viewport and device presets, retina scale, PDF paper size and page ranges, custom CSS or JavaScript, click-before-capture, waits for a selector, delay or network idle, custom headers, cookies, user agent and Authorization, timezone and geolocation, transparent backgrounds, resizing, configurable caching, signed links, asynchronous jobs with signed webhooks, bulk capture of up to 100 URLs per call, a usage API and an OpenAPI specification. Parameter names used by other screenshot APIs also work, which can simplify migration.
Before capture, it accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets; each step can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits are not billed. The response identifies the result with X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers. An MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients.

Practical checklist before you share the capture
- Confirm whether the deliverable is a workbook, tab, range, PDF, or one PNG.
- Check the first and last intended rows and columns.
- Inspect formulas, hidden data, filters, and sensitive values.
- Read the print preview at 100% or open the saved PDF before sending it.
- For extensions, verify permissions and test on a non-sensitive copy.
- For API captures, confirm the URL’s access method, output format, viewport, and billing headers.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Google Sheets make an entire workbook one PNG natively?
The documented built-in workflow is print/PDF oriented and does not promise one tall PNG for every tab. Use Workbook for the complete file, then choose a range-to-image workflow only when its scope meets your needs.
Does selecting Workbook include hidden sheets?
The print scope refers to the spreadsheet file’s tabs, but the supplied Google instructions do not establish how every hidden-sheet configuration is handled. Check the preview and saved output before sharing.
Is a PDF or PNG better for a very large sheet?
A PDF with page breaks and repeated headers is usually easier to read and search. A single PNG is convenient for embedding but can become too large or too small to read.
