Fastest answer: Firefox can capture an entire webpage with Take Screenshot → Save full page, but its built-in workflow saves a PNG. To get a JPEG, convert that PNG in an image editor, or use a full-page extension such as GoFullPage or FullPage Capture that offers JPEG export. For repeatable, automated captures, an API avoids browser scrolling altogether.
Choose the right full-page method
A full-page capture is different from a normal screenshot: it includes content below the visible browser window by scrolling through the document and combining the sections. The best method depends on whether you need a one-off image, direct JPEG output, or an automated workflow.

Extension store descriptions are vendor documentation, not independent tests. Any dynamic page can still produce missing, duplicated or repeated sections, so inspect the result.
Method 1: Firefox’s built-in full-page screenshot
Save the complete page as a PNG
- Open the webpage in Firefox.
- Wait until the text, images and interactive content you want are visible or loaded.
- Open the page context menu and choose Take Screenshot. You can also open Firefox’s screenshot interface from the browser toolbar if it is available in your setup.
- Choose Save full page.
- Firefox downloads one image containing the page beyond the current viewport. The built-in help documents PNG output.
Before capturing, dismiss overlays you do not want in the image and allow lazy-loaded sections to appear. A page that changes while Firefox scrolls can leave a seam, duplicate content or a blank region.

Convert the PNG to JPEG
Open the downloaded PNG in an image editor and choose Export or Save As, then select JPEG/JPG. Set the quality high enough for readable text; JPEG compression is lossy and can introduce halos around small fonts. Keep the original PNG if you may need a lossless copy later.
If an editor asks about color profiles, retaining the embedded profile is usually safest for web publishing. For a very long page, check the pixel dimensions before exporting: some editors cannot open images that exceed their maximum canvas size.
Method 2: Enable Firefox Developer Tools’ full-page capture
Turn on the screenshot button
- Open Firefox Developer Tools.
- Open Settings.
- Under Available Toolbox Buttons, enable Take a screenshot of the entire page.
- Close settings, then click the new screenshot button in the Developer Tools toolbar.
This route captures the entire document without requiring an extension. Firefox’s documented filename uses the .png extension, so convert the result to JPEG using the same editor workflow described above.
Use the Web Console helper
Firefox’s Web Console provides a :screenshot helper. The --fullpage option includes content outside the current window. You can add a delay for a menu or hover state and set device-pixel-ratio handling:

Use a filename ending in .png, as documented by Firefox, then convert the file if JPEG is required. A higher device-pixel ratio creates a larger image and can improve detail, but it also increases memory use and conversion time.

Method 3: Use an extension that exports JPEG
GoFullPage
GoFullPage’s Firefox listing says to click its extension icon or press Alt+Shift+P. It scrolls through the visible sections, assembles them, and offers PNG, JPEG and PDF downloads. Its listing also describes handling for some complex pages, including inner scrollable elements and embedded iframes; treat that as the vendor’s claim rather than a guarantee for every website.
The listing warns that a page too large for one image may be split into images in separate tabs. Download every part, then join or edit them if you need one deliverable. Check fixed headers and sticky navigation carefully: a scrolling stitcher may capture the same header repeatedly or remove it depending on how the page is built.
FullPage Capture
FullPage Capture’s Chrome Web Store listing offers PNG or JPEG downloads. Its help documentation exposes a scroll-delay setting for slower pages, allowing each section more time to render before the next scroll. The listing reports version 1.9.50, updated August 27, 2026; store versions and availability can change.

Prepare a page so the capture is accurate
- Wait for lazy content: scroll through the page once, or wait for images and cards to finish loading.
- Close obstructive UI: dismiss newsletter dialogs, chat windows and menus unless they belong in the record.
- Stabilize the layout: pause animated carousels and avoid capturing while fonts or ads are still changing size.
- Check nested scrolling: content inside its own scrollable panel may not be included by every browser tool.
- Watch authentication: keep the same logged-in tab and permissions you need; a capture tool cannot see content your session cannot access.
- Inspect the output: look for repeated sections, missing images, blank bands and clipped iframes before sharing the JPEG.
These checks matter more as the page gets longer. Scroll-and-stitch tools take several snapshots rather than receiving one immutable document, so a live page can change between sections.

JPEG quality, size and reliability considerations
JPEG versus PNG
JPEG normally produces a smaller file and is convenient for sharing, but it is lossy. Fine text, screenshots of code and sharp UI borders can show compression artifacts. PNG is usually preferable for archival copies or pixel-accurate review. Export a JPEG only after checking that text remains legible at the intended display size.

A single full-page image can become extremely tall. Browser and editor memory limits may cause a capture to fail, become slow or split into multiple images. If a tool offers a maximum image size, reduce the viewport scale, capture logical sections, or use a PDF when a paginated document is more practical. GoFullPage explicitly warns that very large pages may be divided into separate images.

Dynamic and protected pages
Cookie dialogs, bot checks, delayed API calls, infinite scroll and personalized content can all change the result. A browser method uses your current session, while an API needs the appropriate cookies, headers or authorization supplied in its request. Never assume that a successful HTTP response means the visual page is complete; inspect the image or use a page-verdict header where available.
Repeat captures
For occasional work, Firefox or an extension is simplest. For scheduled monitoring, documentation builds or many URLs, an API provides explicit waits, caching and asynchronous jobs. Caching can reduce repeated work, but choose a TTL that matches how quickly the target changes. Bulk capture is more efficient for a list of URLs, while webhooks prevent a long-running client from waiting synchronously.

The downloaded file is PNG, not JPEG
That is expected from Firefox’s built-in and Developer Tools workflows. Convert the PNG in an editor, or use an extension or API that explicitly exposes JPEG output.

Only the visible viewport was captured
Choose Save full page, enable Firefox’s entire-page screenshot button, or start the extension’s full-page mode. A normal operating-system screenshot cannot include content outside the window.
Sections are duplicated or missing
Wait for fonts, images and scripts to settle; disable animations; increase an extension’s scroll delay; and recapture. For an API, wait for a selector, a fixed delay or network idle, and consider blocking disruptive resources. Compare the result with the live page because no cited method guarantees identical output for every design.

A sticky header appears many times
Sticky elements remain visible during scrolling and can be stitched into each section. Hide the element where the tool supports a hide-selector option, apply custom CSS, or crop the repeated bands in an editor.
The page contains an inner scroll area or iframe
Firefox’s basic capture may not scroll every nested container. GoFullPage advertises support for some inner scrollable elements and embedded iframes, but this is not guaranteed universally. Capture the inner area separately or use an API’s element selector and custom interaction options.
The API returns an error or an unexpected blank image
Check the API key, URL encoding, authorization and timeout first. Supply required cookies or headers for private pages, increase waits for late content, and inspect X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed.
