Hold both briefly, then release when the preview appears. The shortcut works on either the outer cover display or the unfolded inner display.
Use the Pixel 10 Pro Fold screenshot buttons
- Open the screen you want to save.
- Place one finger on the Side (Power) key and another on the lower part of the Volume key.
- Press both keys simultaneously for about a second, then release.
- Wait for the thumbnail preview. Tap it to edit or share, or leave it alone while the image saves.
Pressing Volume up instead of the lower (Volume down) key will not trigger the standard shortcut. If the keys are pressed at noticeably different times, the phone may change the volume, lock the display or open the power menu instead. Try again with a firm, simultaneous press.
Capture the correct Fold screen
The Fold has an outer cover display and a larger inner display. A screenshot records whichever display is visible when you press the keys. To capture content that is currently on the inner screen, unfold the phone first; to capture the cover screen, close it and repeat the same shortcut. Rotate the phone before capturing if orientation matters in the saved image.

Google Assistant voice command
Say “Hey Google, take a screenshot.” Assistant captures the current screen. This is useful when one hand is occupied, the phone is mounted, or pressing two keys is uncomfortable. Assistant must be enabled and able to hear the command.

Gesture navigation
- Swipe up from the bottom edge and hold to open the recent-apps (Overview) screen.
- Select the app whose visible page you want to capture.
- Tap Screenshot.
This method is available when gesture navigation is active. The screenshot is of the app shown in Overview, not of the home screen behind it.
Three-button navigation
- Tap Overview (the square navigation button).
- Choose the app to capture.
- Tap Screenshot.
Three-button navigation exposes the same Screenshot control without requiring a swipe gesture. If you do not see the navigation buttons, your phone is using gesture navigation; use the gesture steps instead.
Power-menu fallback
If the shortcut is not responding, hold the Side (Power) key for a few seconds and tap Screenshot in the power menu. This gives you an on-screen control and helps distinguish a button-timing problem from a wider software issue.
Take a long or scrolling screenshot
On Android 12 and later, most screens that support scrolling offer Capture more. It saves a single image containing content below the visible area, such as a long article, settings page or conversation.

- Take a normal screenshot with Side (Power) plus Volume down, or use one of the alternatives above.
- When the preview and controls appear, tap Capture more at the bottom.
- Drag the crop handles or guidelines to include the section you need.
- Tap Save (or the equivalent confirmation control) to store the extended image.
Capture more appears only when the current app and page expose a scrollable surface that Android can capture. It will not be offered for every screen—for example, a static image, a camera view or an app that blocks scrolling capture. In those cases, take separate screenshots and combine them in an editor.
Keep long captures readable
- Scroll to the top before starting so the screenshot begins at the intended heading.
- Use the crop guides to stop at the last relevant paragraph rather than saving a very tall, unwieldy file.
- For a page that loads more content as you scroll, wait for each section to finish loading before selecting the final crop.
- Remember that a scrolling screenshot is one tall image; it is not a selectable PDF or a set of separate pages.
Find, edit and share the screenshot
Where Pixel saves screenshots
Open Google Photos and go to Collections > On this device > Screenshots. The newest capture should appear there. You can also open the thumbnail immediately after capture to verify that the correct display, app and crop were recorded.
Edit the image
Open the screenshot in Google Photos and tap Edit. Crop out status-bar details, rotate the image, adjust its appearance or mark up a particular area, then save a copy. Editing a copy preserves the original capture if you need it later.
Share it
From the screenshot preview or Google Photos, tap Share and choose an app or contact. For a sensitive screen, check the image before sharing: notification text, account names, message previews and the Fold’s status icons may be visible at the top.

Translate text in a screenshot
Pixel 3 and later phones, including Fold models, can send a screenshot to Google Lens for translation:
- Open the screenshot in Google Photos.
- Tap the Lens icon.
- Choose Translate.
- Select the source and target languages, then review or copy the translated text.
Google lists Chinese, French, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish among the supported languages for this workflow. Translation quality depends on image sharpness, font size and whether the text is obscured by graphics.

Troubleshooting Pixel 10 Pro Fold screenshots
Nothing happens when I press the buttons
- Confirm that you are pressing the Side key and Volume down, not Volume up.
- Press them at exactly the same time and release after a short pause; do not hold them long enough to open the power menu.
- Remove a rigid case temporarily if it prevents either key from registering.
- Use the power-menu Screenshot command, Assistant, or the navigation method as a workaround.
The screenshot is of the wrong display or app
Android captures the display and app visible at the moment of capture. Return to the intended app, close transient menus, and then press the shortcut. On the Fold, check whether you are looking at the cover or inner display before capturing.
Capture more is missing
Take a standard screenshot first and look for Capture more in its controls. If it is absent, the current app or screen probably does not expose a supported scrollable surface. Update the app if an update is available, wait for the page to finish loading, or capture several sections separately.

The image looks cut off or too short
For a normal capture, this is expected: it contains only the visible viewport. For a long capture, reopen the preview, choose Capture more, and extend the crop guides farther down. Content that has not loaded yet cannot be included reliably.
I cannot find the file
In Google Photos, use Collections > On this device > Screenshots. If it is not there, check that the screenshot actually produced a preview, wait for Photos to finish indexing, and look again. A screenshot taken in a work profile or another user profile may be stored in that profile’s own gallery.
The screenshot is blocked or black
Some apps deliberately prevent screen capture for security or copyright reasons. Android may show a blank or black result, or refuse the capture. Do not try to bypass an app’s protection; use an approved export, download or sharing function provided by that service.
Privacy and quality checks before sharing
- Read the full image, including the status bar and notification shade area, for personal data.
- Crop account numbers, addresses, one-time codes and private messages before sending.
- Use the original screenshot for evidence and an edited copy for public posting.
- For text you plan to translate or copy, capture at the largest practical display size and avoid covering words with pop-ups.
