What Dyson Pencilvac is—and what 38mm describes
Dyson lists the machine in China as Dyson Pencilvac™ 铅笔吸尘器 (literally, “pencil vacuum”), SKU 492713-01. It is a cordless stick vacuum that can convert to handheld use; “Pencil” refers to its unusually narrow cylindrical main body, not to a handheld-only design. Dyson’s China homepage identifies that body as 38mm in diameter. That measurement does not describe the cleaner head or the complete vacuum’s height. The 140,000-RPM figure is a reported launch specification, not an independently confirmed number in Dyson’s accessible product-page text. RPM describes how quickly a motor turns; it does not, on its own, establish suction, pickup on carpets, or battery life. The same caution applies to the reported 55 AW maximum: it is associated with Boost mode, and does not tell a buyer how long that setting runs or how well the assembled vacuum cleans different surfaces.
Four-cone cleaner head and hair claims
Dyson describes a four-cone omnidirectional cleaner head. The company says its conical rollers are designed to reduce long-hair tangling, help clean along edges, and allow movement in multiple directions. Dyson also promotes a zero-millimeter edge design and optical detection in both directions. Secondary coverage uses the name “Fluffycones” and describes dual-motor rollers and 360-degree movement; those details should be understood as that outlet’s reporting rather than as wording independently established in the accessible Dyson product-page text.
Dyson’s stated hair test was specific: a third party used 100 strands of 60cm hair on hard flooring, made four cleaning passes in Boost mode, and found no long hair wrapped around the conical rollers. That result does not establish the same outcome for short pet fur, damp hair, thread, other floor types, or different amounts of debris. Cleaning reach, dust compression and filtration
Designed for hard floors and awkward spaces
Dyson positions Pencilvac for hard floors and targeted cleaning. The company says it can reach beneath furniture with 75mm of clearance; with its rotating soft-bristle crevice combination tool, it can access gaps as narrow as 38mm. It also lists an anti-tangle spiral tool for pet hair and says the vacuum converts to handheld mode. These features suggest a focus on maneuverability and quick, specific jobs, rather than proving that the machine is a replacement for a larger vacuum in every home.
Small reported bin, assisted emptying
Secondary coverage reports a 0.08L dustbin. Dyson describes an air-compression system that it says compresses soft, fluffy debris by up to five times, based on internal testing, and a piston-style mechanism that pushes debris into the trash. Compression may make the small bin more practical for light cleaning, but it does not remove the need to empty it; households collecting substantial debris may need to do so often. Filtration claim and test conditions
Dyson claims sealed dual filtration captures 99.99% of particles as small as 0.3 microns. The company says this was tested under ASTM F1977-22 in Boost mode, with SGS testing in a U.S. laboratory. The percentage is therefore a result under stated test conditions, not a promise of identical performance in every home, and it should not be read as a medical or allergy-treatment claim. Battery, screen and app
Launch coverage reports up to 30 minutes of use in Eco mode. That is a mode-specific maximum, not a general runtime for every task; the reviewed Dyson page text does not state a Boost-mode runtime. Dyson lists a 3.5-hour full charge. A slim body can make a vacuum easier to handle, but the reported small bin and Eco-only runtime figure are reasons to think of Pencilvac as a maintenance-cleaning option unless a buyer’s needs and actual use support more.
Dyson says the LCD shows the operating mode and remaining runtime, while the MyDyson app provides settings and maintenance guidance. The company advises completing the first charge before use and says charging stops automatically when the battery is full. Dyson China product page

- Consider it if: you can buy and service it in mainland China, mostly clean hard floors, value a narrow body and access under low furniture, or want a compact machine for frequent small cleanups.
- Be cautious if: you have a large home, need a large dustbin, expect extended high-power sessions, or rely on a vacuum tested for carpet pickup. The available product information does not establish Boost runtime or independent performance on carpets and embedded dirt.
- For pet or long-hair households: the cone design is promising on Dyson’s stated test, but that test does not cover every kind of hair or flooring.
- For overseas buyers: the evidence establishes a China-market listing, not availability or support in other countries. Before importing, confirm warranty coverage, power and charging accessories, app-region functionality, replacement-part access, shipping, taxes, and the seller’s return terms.
Price, stock and China-market limitations
Dyson China lists Pencilvac at ¥3,999 under SKU 492713-01. The official page showed “补货中” (“restocking”) when checked, so the listing does not mean the product is currently available to ship. Use limits to know
Dyson says not to use Pencilvac on water or wet areas; wet surfaces should be dried before vacuuming. The company also warns against vacuuming corrosive substances, sharp or excessively hard objects such as nails or stones, and flour or lime powder, which can clump with moisture and be difficult to clean.
