To save one picture, right-click it and choose the browser’s image-save command. To collect many pictures from one page, install an image-downloader extension from your browser’s official store, review its permissions, scan the page, filter the results, select files, and download them to your normal downloads folder or a subfolder. The exact buttons and options vary by browser and extension version.
Save a single image without an extension
An extension is usually unnecessary for one exposed image.
- Open the page containing the picture.
- Right-click the image. On a touch device, use the image’s press-and-hold menu.
- Choose the browser command such as Save image as or its equivalent.
- Pick a filename and destination in the save dialog, if the browser shows one, then confirm.
If the command is missing, the visible object may be a background image, a canvas drawing, a video frame, or a protected viewer rather than a directly exposed image file. Do not try to bypass access controls; use an image the site makes available for download or ask the rights holder for permission.
Download multiple images with an extension
Bulk downloaders inspect the current page and present the image URLs they can detect. Listings for Chrome and Firefox describe filters for dimensions, file size, URL, or image type, and some offer duplicate removal. These are advertised capabilities, not a guarantee that every page or image will be found.

1. Install from the correct store
Open the official extension store for your browser and search for an image-downloader extension that names your browser and version as supported. Chrome Web Store listings include Image Downloader and Download All Images; Mozilla Add-ons lists Firefox versions of those tools. Check the publisher, recent listing activity, reviews as signals rather than proof, and the extension’s stated permissions before selecting Add or Install.
2. Read the permission request
A downloader needs a way to inspect images on the page. The Chrome Image Downloader listing says it accesses page content when its popup is activated. The Firefox Image Downloader listing includes access to browser tabs. Chrome Help explains that users can review and choose among permission options when an extension requests them.
Grant only the scope you understand. An extension that can read active-page content may see text, image addresses, and other data on pages where you activate it. Avoid installing an unrelated extension merely because its name contains “image downloader,” and remove one you no longer use.
3. Open the target page and activate the extension
- Navigate to the page containing the images.
- Open the browser’s extensions menu and pin or select the downloader.
- Activate its popup while the target tab is visible. Some tools scan only after this action.
- Wait for the results list to finish loading before selecting files.
Labels such as Scan, Find images, or Download differ by product. If the popup reports no results, first confirm that you activated it on the correct tab and that the page has finished loading.

4. Narrow the results

| Control | What it helps you do | Availability |
|---|---|---|
| Dimensions | Keep images above a chosen width or height and exclude tiny icons. | Listed by Image Downloader and Download All Images. |
| File size | Exclude very small placeholders or unusually large files. | Listed by Image Downloader and Download All Images. |
| URL | Keep or exclude addresses matching a domain or path. | Listed by Image Downloader. |
| Image type | Limit results to formats the extension recognizes. | Listed by Download All Images. |
| Duplicate removal | Reduce repeated entries for the same image address. | Listed by Image Downloader. |
Do not assume a missing control exists in another extension. If dimensions or type are not offered, sort the list manually or use the browser’s download selection one file at a time.
5. Select and download
- Preview or tick the images you want. Prefer the largest useful version when the list shows multiple responsive sizes.
- Choose the extension’s download action.
- If it offers a destination, select a subfolder; otherwise files normally go to the browser’s configured download directory.
- Allow multiple-download prompts if your browser asks for confirmation.
Some listings describe a configurable subfolder, while others rely on the browser default. A download can also be renamed or moved after it completes.
Find the files and change their location
Open the browser’s downloads list to see the filename, status, and destination. If a file is not where expected, use the list’s Show in folder or equivalent action, then inspect the browser’s download settings. Chrome Help documents managing downloaded files and moving them to another folder. Keep a separate project folder when collecting many assets so unrelated downloads are not mixed in.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Check the extension’s selected format before opening files. An image may retain its server-provided extension, and a download that ends in an unexpected type can be an HTML error page rather than a picture. If the browser reports a blocked or failed download, do not repeatedly retry without checking the source URL and page access.

- Intuitive interface of a conventional FTP client
- Easy and Reliable FTP Site Maintenance.

| Your need | What to look for |
|---|---|
| Many images on one long page | Bulk extraction and dimension or size filters. |
| Several formats mixed together | Image-type filtering plus a clear preview list. |
| Repeated thumbnails and variants | Duplicate handling and URL visibility. |
| Firefox | A Firefox Add-ons listing that names the current browser version. |
| Strict data boundaries | A narrow permission scope and activation only on the current tab. |
| Organized output | A specified subfolder or an easy browser download-location setting. |
A store listing is a description of the publisher’s features, not a promise that the extension is safe in every situation or compatible with every site. Recheck permissions and publisher information when the extension updates.
Why an extension may miss an image
- Lazy loading: the page may request an image only after you scroll near it. Scroll through the page, wait for images to appear, and scan again.
- Responsive variants: the page can expose several sizes for one picture. Filter by dimensions and inspect URLs before downloading.
- CSS backgrounds or canvas: the visible artwork may not be represented as a normal image element. The extension may not list it.
- Viewer or login boundary: the image may require an account, session, or permission the extension cannot use. Sign in only through the site’s normal interface and respect its terms.
- Temporary page state: consent dialogs, scripts, or network errors can prevent the image list from completing. Finish the page’s normal prompts, reload, and try once more.
- Duplicate URLs: thumbnails and repeated placements can appear as separate rows. Use duplicate removal when available and verify the final selection.
These limitations mean no extension can promise every original file, every format, or every website. A listing that says it scans active-page content does not establish universal site compatibility.
Permissions and privacy checklist
- Install from the relevant browser’s official extension store, not an unverified download page.
- Read the publisher name, listing description, update information, and requested permissions.
- Understand whether access is limited to the active tab or applies across sites.
- Activate the extension only on pages where you are comfortable exposing page content to that extension.
- After finishing a project, disable or uninstall tools you no longer need.
- Do not download copyrighted, private, or access-controlled material without permission.
Troubleshooting common failures
The extension shows zero images
Confirm that the target tab is active, reload the page, dismiss any normal consent prompt, scroll to trigger lazy loading, and activate the popup again. If the page uses a canvas, background image, login boundary, or viewer, the extension may simply have nothing it can enumerate.
Only tiny icons appear
Set a minimum width, height, or file-size filter if available. If the tool supports URL filtering, exclude paths used for icons or thumbnails. Then inspect whether the site exposes a larger responsive variant.
Downloads go to the wrong folder
Open the browser’s downloads list and settings, identify the configured download directory, and move completed files to a project folder. Choose a subfolder in the extension when that option is offered.

The browser asks to allow multiple downloads
Review the prompt’s site and extension context. Allow it only when you initiated the batch and trust the page; otherwise cancel and download a smaller selection.
A downloaded file will not open
Check its extension and file size. A server may have returned an error document, redirect, or login page instead of image data. Remove the bad file and use the page’s normal access path rather than attempting to bypass restrictions.
The extension requests broader permissions after an update
Read the new explanation before accepting. If the expanded scope is unnecessary for your task, deny it, disable the extension, or uninstall it and choose another tool with a permission model you can accept.

If your goal is a repeatable capture rather than manually collecting files, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. It can accept cookie and consent banners as a visitor, then remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and the response reports the page verdict and billing status in X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers.
Read the parameter reference in the ScreenshotNeo documentation. Replace the example URL with a page you are allowed to capture.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I download images from a page without installing an extension?
Yes. For an individual exposed image, use the browser’s right-click save-image command. Extensions are mainly useful for finding and selecting many images.
Will an image downloader retrieve the original full-resolution file?
Not necessarily. A page may expose thumbnails, responsive variants, a canvas, or a protected viewer, and extension listings do not guarantee original-file retrieval.
Are browser extensions safe just because they are in an official store?
No store listing is a universal security guarantee. Check the publisher, update information, requested permissions, and the pages on which the extension can read content.
Where do bulk downloads usually go?
They normally use the browser’s configured download directory unless the extension offers a destination or subfolder setting.
