Short answer: Do not automate extraction from Glassdoor unless you first obtain its express written permission. Glassdoor’s Terms of Use (the version dated December 1, 2022) prohibit introducing software or automated agents to scrape, strip, or mine data without that permission. Normal account access and browsing do not create a bulk-data license. If you need jobs, company information, salaries, or ratings at scale, ask Glassdoor for written authorization or use a provider that can document rights for the exact fields and uses you need.
What Glassdoor’s rules mean
Glassdoor’s published Terms of Use are the first constraint, before code, proxies, or browser automation. They prohibit users from introducing software or automated agents, or accessing the service to “scrape, strip, or mine data from the services without our express written permission.” The same section restricts copying content, using it in connection with a competitive service, monetizing access, and interfering with service functionality.
Those are platform terms. They are not a blanket determination of what every jurisdiction’s law permits or forbids. Your proposed collection, storage, republication, and commercial use may raise additional legal and contractual questions, so obtain advice appropriate to your location and project. The practical point is simpler: Glassdoor says automated extraction requires its express written permission.
Browsing is not a scraping license
Glassdoor says access to content such as jobs, companies, salaries, and reviews requires an account with a permanent, active email address or a valid social-networking account. An account lets an individual use the site as intended; it does not authorize automated downloading, copying a database, or republishing the material.

Do not design around controls
Do not evade login checks, CAPTCHAs, rate limits, bot detection, paywalls, or other access measures. Such tactics do not supply the missing permission and can conflict with the terms’ restrictions on automated agents and interference. A proxy pool or headless browser changes how requests are sent, not whether you are authorized to collect the data.
Choose the compliant route before writing code
| Route | Permission position | Appropriate use | What to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| Individual Glassdoor use | Use the website and account features for their intended purpose; no bulk-extraction right is implied. | Reading a job, comparing companies manually, or submitting a review as a user. | Follow the current Terms of Use and account requirements. |
| Programmatic or commercial need | Obtain express written authorization or a formal agreement first. | Internal research, a data product, monitoring, analytics, or any recurring collection. | Permitted fields, purposes, retention, redistribution, request rate, authentication, and termination conditions. |
| Another data source | Use only a source that documents its rights and applicable license. | When Glassdoor does not approve the required scope. | Whether the provider can legally supply each field for your intended geography and use. |
How to request permission for a real data need
- Describe the project precisely. State whether you need job listings, company profiles, salary information, ratings, review text, or a combination; identify countries, frequency, date range, and expected volume.
- Explain the use. Tell Glassdoor whether the data is for internal analysis, a customer-facing product, recruiting, research, advertising, or another purpose. Say whether you will charge for access or combine the data with other sources.
- List the operations. Specify collection, filtering, transformation, storage duration, backups, employee access, customer access, and deletion procedures. If you will display excerpts, say exactly how and where.
- Ask for written scope. Request confirmation of the approved fields, endpoints or interface, authentication method, request limits, caching rules, attribution, redistribution rights, and audit or termination terms.
- Keep the approval with the project. Do not begin automated collection until the authorization covers the actual account, application, domains, and use case. Reconfirm if the scope changes.
Start with Glassdoor’s current Terms of Use and Help Center to identify the appropriate contact route. The published material reviewed here does not establish that Glassdoor currently offers a public API, a licensed feed, or a named partner program, so do not assume one exists. Ask Glassdoor directly what formal option, if any, fits your requirement.
What you can and cannot infer from ratings
Glassdoor describes reviews as user-submitted content. Review submitters must confirm that a review is truthful and accurate, and only validated accounts can submit reviews. A user may submit one review per company per year. These controls support authenticity, but they do not make the ratings a complete, independently verified census of employee opinion.
Sampling and freshness caveats
- Visible reviews reflect people who chose to submit one and passed the platform’s validation process; silent or unrepresented employees are not measured.
- A displayed score is a platform aggregation, not a guarantee that every review has equal recency, detail, or independence.
- Glassdoor’s 2026 Best Places to Work methodology says former employees’ reviews are accepted within five years of leaving, but only reviews by former employees who left in 2025 or 2024 count toward those 2026 awards. That award rule is not a universal age limit for all Glassdoor reviews.
If you receive permission to analyze ratings, preserve the review date (where authorized), company identity, geography, rating dimensions, and any stated methodology. Report coverage and missingness instead of presenting the result as the entire workforce’s view.

If Glassdoor authorizes collection: build a restrained pipeline
Authorization should define the technical interface. Use the documented interface, credentials, and limits Glassdoor gives you rather than discovering undocumented endpoints. A safe implementation has four layers:
1. Scope and schedule
- Collect only approved fields and URLs.
- Use the lowest frequency that meets the business need; avoid repeated requests for unchanged pages.
- Keep a manifest of requested URLs, timestamps, authorization scope, and response status.
2. Storage and minimization
- Store only fields you are allowed to retain.
- Separate raw responses from derived metrics and restrict employee access.
- Set deletion dates and honor Glassdoor’s contractual deletion or correction requests.
3. Quality checks
- Record whether a response is a job, company page, rating summary, or review and validate the expected schema.
- Deduplicate by the identifier Glassdoor supplies; do not invent identity matches from names alone.
- Track missing pages, changed fields, and stale records instead of silently treating them as zeroes.
4. Publication controls
Before displaying or redistributing anything, check that the agreement permits it. Apply required attribution, suppress prohibited personal details, and provide a removal or correction process if the agreement requires one.
Troubleshooting without bypassing controls
“I can see the page, but my script gets a login response”
That is an access boundary, not an invitation to automate a session or defeat it. Stop and confirm that your written authorization specifies an approved interface and authentication method. If it does not, ask Glassdoor for clarification.
“A CAPTCHA or bot challenge appears”
Do not solve it with evasion services, rotating proxies, or stealth settings. Record the event for your authorized contact and request an approved method or lower-volume schedule.

“The HTML changed and fields are missing”
Pause the job, preserve the failing response and timestamp, and compare it with the schema in your agreement or technical documentation. Update only through the approved interface; do not switch to hidden endpoints.
“I need a public API key”
The official material reviewed for this article does not verify a public Glassdoor API or licensed feed. Ask Glassdoor whether a formal product is available for your region and use case rather than relying on a third-party claim.
“Can I publish a dataset made from reviews?”
Not without permission that expressly covers storage and redistribution. A dataset can create additional copying, competitive-use, privacy, and contractual issues even when individual pages are visible in a browser.

For pages you own or are authorized to capture, ScreenshotNeo provides a single screenshot request and an MCP server for AI agents. It is not a way around Glassdoor’s permission requirement; use it only within the rights and scope you have.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsBefore capture, ScreenshotNeo can accept cookie or consent banners and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets, with each step switchable. Only clean shots are billed: bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and the response identifies the result with X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers. Its MCP tools include take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients.
See the complete options and parameter reference in the ScreenshotNeo documentation. This example targets an authorized example page; replace it only with a URL you have permission to capture.

Questions developers commonly ask
Can I scrape Glassdoor jobs for a personal project?
Not automatically. A personal or noncommercial purpose does not replace the express written permission required by Glassdoor’s stated terms.
Best Value
Can I scrape company reviews or ratings if I only store aggregates?
Aggregation does not by itself authorize collection. Confirm that your written permission covers the source fields, transformation, retention, and publication of the aggregates.
Does having a Glassdoor account change the answer?
No. An account supports ordinary access; it does not grant automated extraction or redistribution rights.
Are Glassdoor ratings independently verified?
Glassdoor describes validation and truthfulness confirmations for submissions, but the ratings should not be represented as a complete census or independently verified measurement of all employees.
