In WPS Writer, Spreadsheet or Presentation, open your file and choose Insert > Screenshot. Select a capture shape, drag over the area you need, and click Done to insert the image. WPS Academy lists Ctrl+Alt+X as the keyboard shortcut. The exact command can vary by WPS component, platform and version, so use the visible menu label in your installation when it differs.
Take a screenshot in WPS Writer, Spreadsheet or Presentation
- Open the document, workbook or presentation in WPS Office.
- Open the Insert tab.
- Choose Screenshot.
- Pick a capture shape: rectangle, oval, rounded rectangle or polygon.
- Drag across the part of the screen you want to capture.
- Click Done. WPS inserts the captured image into the current file.
WPS Academy demonstrates the workflow in Writer and says the same procedure applies to Spreadsheet and Presentation. If your build uses a slightly different label, search the Insert tab for Screenshot or Screen Capture rather than assuming the shortcut is unavailable.
Keyboard shortcut
Press Ctrl+Alt+X to start WPS Office’s screenshot tool, according to WPS Academy. After the overlay appears, choose the shape and drag over the target. If another application has claimed that key combination, start the command from Insert > Screenshot instead.
Choose the right shape
- Rectangle: best for a normal section of a page, table or application window.
- Oval: useful when the subject is circular or you want a soft-edged highlight.
- Rounded rectangle: gives a less severe edge around a panel or dialog.
- Polygon: lets you follow an irregular area with several points.
Keep the WPS window out of the capture
WPS’s screenshot controls include Hide current window when screenshot. Enable that option before selecting the region if you need to capture another application without the WPS window covering it. WPS Academy lists Ctrl+Alt+C for hiding the current window while taking a screenshot.

The related Screen Grab Main Window mode is useful when the target is the WPS application itself. Because menu names and shortcut behavior can change between releases, check the screenshot toolbar’s tooltip or settings if Ctrl+Alt+C does not produce the expected result.
Capture a screenshot in WPS Slides on Windows
WPS’s Windows Slides guide uses a separate entry point:
- Open the presentation and select the slide that should receive the image.
- Choose Insert > Screen Capture.
- Select the capture method shown by your build.
- Drag over the screen area to capture.
- Finish the selection. WPS inserts the image into the current slide automatically.
The official Slides page was last updated July 13, 2026. If you see Screenshot instead of Screen Capture, use the command your installed version exposes; the result is still an image placed on the slide.
Take a screenshot in WPS Teams on Windows
Teams chat has its own capture tool rather than the Writer/Spreadsheet/Presentation Insert menu.

- Open the conversation and click the scissors icon in the message editor, or press Ctrl+Shift+A.
- Drag to select the area.
- Use the annotation tools as needed: rectangle, ellipse, line, arrow, brush, text or mosaic.
- Choose Save to keep a file, or Extract Text when you need OCR text.
- Click the checkmark to confirm and place the result in the chat input box.
The current WPS Teams guide was last updated July 23, 2026. Teams shortcuts and toolbar icons are Windows-specific in that guide; do not assume Ctrl+Shift+A is available on another operating system.
What happens after the capture
Writer, Spreadsheet and Presentation
The image becomes an object in the active file. You can move, resize and format it like other inserted pictures. Capture only the pixels needed for the explanation: a smaller region is easier to read and keeps the document lighter than a full desktop grab.
Slides
The capture is inserted into the current slide automatically. Resize it from a corner to preserve its proportions, and check that small interface text remains legible at the presentation’s display size.
Teams
The confirmed image sits in the message editor, where you can add context before sending. Use mosaic on private names, email addresses or other sensitive details instead of relying on a later crop.

When WPS’s built-in tool is not the right fit
Use the built-in command when the screenshot should go directly into a document, slide or chat. A system capture is more appropriate when you need a full desktop, a separate application window, video, or a file independent of WPS. On Windows, Microsoft’s Snipping Tool captures freeform, rectangular, window and full-screen snips, plus video. It opens the result for editing, saving and sharing.

Troubleshooting WPS screenshots
The Screenshot command is missing
Confirm that you are in a WPS component that supports the command and that the file is open in editing mode. Look under Insert for either Screenshot or Screen Capture. Slides and Teams use different entry points.
Ctrl+Alt+X does nothing
Another program, keyboard utility or operating-system shortcut may have claimed the combination. Use the Insert menu, close conflicting utilities, or assign a different shortcut if your WPS build allows it.
The wrong window is captured
Use Hide current window when screenshot before selecting the area, or minimize unrelated windows first. For a WPS-only capture, try Screen Grab Main Window.

The image is blurry
Capture at the display size at which the image will be read, avoid repeatedly enlarging a small crop, and keep text inside the selection. For slides, test the image in presentation view rather than judging only at editing zoom.
Private information is visible
Cancel and recapture a tighter region, or use Teams’ mosaic annotation. Do not treat cropping as removal if the original image will also be shared or retained.
The capture is not inserted
In Writer, Spreadsheet and Presentation, click Done to complete the selection. In Teams, click the checkmark after annotation. In Slides, verify that the intended slide was active before starting Screen Capture.

- Choose the component-specific entry point: Insert > Screenshot, Insert > Screen Capture, or the Teams scissors icon.
- Select the smallest shape that contains the information.
- Hide the current window when capturing another application.
- Annotate or mosaic sensitive details before sending.
- Confirm with Done or the Teams checkmark so the image is actually inserted.

Can I capture an entire WPS document with Screenshot?
The documented WPS controls let you drag a selected region. For a complete long document, export or print to PDF, or use a full-screen/system capture when an image of the whole visible window is sufficient.
Why do WPS shortcuts differ between computers?
WPS component, operating-system, release and conflicts with other keyboard utilities can change which shortcut works. The visible command in your installed menu is the authoritative path.
