To download a rendered asset, first determine whether it has already been saved to a local output folder or is still available only in an application or cloud service. In a desktop app, check its render or output settings for the destination and format; in a hosted service, open the completed job and use its download control. The exact steps—and whether the result is an image, frame sequence, movie, or ZIP—depend on the product.
First identify where the render lives
A render visible in a preview is not necessarily a file on your computer. Desktop software may write output automatically to a configured path, require you to save a still image manually, or place finished work in a render queue. A hosted renderer may keep the result in a project or completed-job page until you download it.
- Desktop application: look for Render, Output, Save, or Render Queue settings. Confirm both the destination path and the output format.
- Hosted service: open the project or completed job and look for Download, Export, or a similar action. Check whether the control downloads one result, a range of frames, or a collection.
- Web page or online viewer: if you need a screenshot of what is displayed, that is a different task from downloading the original rendered files. A screenshot captures a view; it does not recover source assets or necessarily preserve animation frames.
Before closing the application or relying on a service, verify that the output exists where expected and that you can open it. Do not assume a preview or completed job is permanent storage.
Choose the output that fits the next step
Decide what the receiving workflow needs before exporting. These formats are not interchangeable, and available choices vary by application.

| Output | Use it when | Check before exporting |
|---|---|---|
| Single still image | You need one finished frame for a document, presentation, or image-editing task. | Confirm the selected frame, dimensions, and supported image format. |
| Image sequence | You need individual frames for compositing, editing, or another animation workflow. | Confirm the frame range, filename pattern, and destination. A sequence can produce many files. |
| Movie | You need a playback-ready clip rather than separately editable frames. | Check the application’s movie output options and whether the recipient needs a particular format. |
| Image with transparency | The image must sit over another background without an opaque rectangle. | Choose a format and export setting that preserve alpha. In Creo Parametric 12, Include Alpha is documented for PNG or TIFF. |
| Project or scene package | You need to continue editing in a compatible 3D application rather than just view the rendered image. | Confirm which application can open the exported scene or package. |
Adobe After Effects documents exporting a movie as a sequence of still images, as well as saving a composition frame as a layered Photoshop file or rendered image. Creo Parametric 12 documents JPEG, TIFF, and PNG output, with optional alpha for PNG or TIFF; it also documents export to a KeyShot scene (.bip) or package (.ksp). These are product-specific options, not universal format guarantees.
Save a render from a desktop application
Blender
In Blender, check the Output Properties panel for the file path and format. The path controls where animation frames are written, and Blender appends the frame number to animation filenames.
- Open the scene’s Output Properties and set the output path to the folder where you want the files.
- Choose the required format and quality settings in the output settings.
- For an animation, render with Ctrl-F12. Blender writes frames to the configured path when automatic saving is enabled.
- For a still, render with F12, then save the rendered image manually; still renders are not automatically saved.
- Open the destination folder and check that the expected file or numbered frames are present.
If an animation appears in the render window but the folder is empty, check the configured path and automatic-saving setting. If a still image is missing, use the still-render save action rather than assuming the animation behavior applies to it.

Adobe After Effects
Use the Render Queue’s Output To control to specify the filename and destination, or choose a naming template. If the next task needs individual frames rather than a movie, use the documented movie-to-still-image-sequence workflow. To export just one composition frame, After Effects also documents saving it as a layered Photoshop file or a rendered image.

Creo Parametric 12
In Render Studio, save the render as JPEG, TIFF, or PNG. Enable Include Alpha when you need transparency; the documented alpha option applies to PNG or TIFF. If you need an editable handoff, the guide also documents exporting a KeyShot scene (.bip) or package (.ksp); it says KSP can be viewed in KeyShot Viewer. A scene export is not the same as a rendered image, so choose according to whether the recipient needs pixels or a scene to open.
Download a completed render from a hosted service
Autodesk Rendering
Autodesk Rendering documents two download routes: one image or a collection ZIP. For one image, open a project, select the image, click Download, and choose the option for that rendering type. For a collection, use Actions > Download All to create a ZIP. The ZIP excludes in-progress and failed renderings, so it may contain fewer items than the collection view suggests. Turntable renderings download as movies; panoramas download as image strips. The guide documenting these controls is old, so check the current interface if a label or path differs.

Render Network
Render Network’s documented download workflow lets you select frame ranges and output format for a completed job before downloading or sharing it. Set the range deliberately if you need only part of an animation, and verify the downloaded files before relying on them.
Retention is service-specific. Render Network states that rendered outputs are deleted one week after a job is confirmed and the ORBX scene is deleted 10 days after a job is completed. Those periods apply to Render Network’s stated terms, not cloud renderers generally. Download wanted files to storage you control rather than treating the service as an archive.

If by “rendered asset” you mean a visual capture of a website as it appears in a browser, a screenshot is appropriate. It is not a substitute for the renderer’s original image, scene, movie, or frame sequence. For a manual browser capture, open the page, wait for the content you need to appear, and use the browser or operating system’s screenshot function; save the result in the destination you choose. Dynamic content, cookie prompts, and overlays may affect what is visible in that capture.

For a website screenshot—not an export of a 3D render or animation—ScreenshotNeo provides a one-request capture API. This example saves a screenshot of the rendered page at stripe.com as WebP:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
Replace YOUR_API_KEY with your key and change the target URL as needed. The API accepts one GET request with a URL and can return PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for parameters and response details.
ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server offers take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. ScreenshotNeo is made by Yorker Media; see ScreenshotNeo for the service. - The render is visible, but no file appears: check whether the application saves that type of render automatically. In Blender, animation frames can be automatically written to the output path when automatic saving is enabled, but still renders need to be saved manually.
- The file is in the wrong folder: inspect the configured output path or the destination selected in the export dialog. Check the full path, not just the filename.
- A frame sequence is missing frames: check the selected frame range and whether the render completed. For a hosted collection ZIP, Autodesk Rendering excludes in-progress and failed renderings.
- The background is opaque: confirm that the format supports alpha and that transparency was enabled. Creo Parametric 12 documents Include Alpha for PNG or TIFF; do not assume another application has the same setting.
- The downloaded result is a movie or image strip rather than one still: check the render type and service-specific download behavior. Autodesk Rendering documents movies for turntables and image strips for panoramas.
- A cloud result is no longer available: check that service’s retention terms. Render Network publishes the deletion periods described above; do not generalize them to other services.
- The file opens incorrectly in the next application: distinguish a rendered image from a scene/package export and confirm that the receiving application supports the chosen output.
Reliability and storage checks
Large frame sequences and collection downloads can take time and use substantial local storage. Confirm the destination has enough free space before starting, especially when exporting many frames. After export, check the file count and open representative files; for a sequence, verify that filenames and frame numbers cover the intended range. If the service offers a ZIP, extract it and inspect its contents rather than assuming every requested render succeeded.

Keep a local copy of outputs you need beyond the service’s stated availability. Where the application offers both a movie and individual frames, choose based on whether you need playback or per-frame editing; generating both may increase storage use without helping the next step.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does downloading a rendered asset mean downloading its original source file?
No. A rendered image or movie is output; an editable scene or project package is a separate kind of export.
Why did a collection download contain fewer renders than the project showed?
Some services exclude unfinished or failed jobs from batch downloads; check the service’s documented inclusion rules.
