The site advertises generous free-server resources, but its own pages disagree about how long the service is free, and users have reported failed activation, missing server details and unanswered support requests. Those reports do not prove fraud, but the available evidence does not demonstrate reliable VPS delivery.
What is GratisVPS?
GratisVPS.net presents itself as a hosting provider offering free and paid VPS services, including Linux and Windows options, as well as web hosting, RDP and related services. It targets developers, students, system administrators and people running small projects. The site advertises root or administrator access, but an advertised feature is not proof that an instance is provisioned or usable.
The VPS offer, web-hosting pages, the tools.gratisvps.net subdomain and any partner or advertising pages encountered during signup are distinct parts of the experience. Do not assume that a page reached through an activation flow is operated by the same entity as the hosting service. The available evidence does not establish a legally verifiable operating company, business address, corporate registration or responsible infrastructure provider.
What does GratisVPS claim to offer?
The following are claims published by GratisVPS, not independently verified specifications. Its advertised free VPS includes 2 vCPUs, 6 GB RAM, 120 GB NVMe storage, 20 TB bandwidth and 1 Gbps networking. The site also claims Linux and Windows options and full root or administrator access. The existence of these claims does not confirm that a server is available, allocated or reachable.

The site also advertises paid plans at roughly $9–$9.99 per month for a 4-core/12-GB tier and $19–$19.99 per month for an 8-core/24-GB tier on different pages. These are provider-published price signals, not a confirmed checkout offer; check the current terms and billing identity before considering payment. The site’s advertised locations and hardware also vary across pages.
Is GratisVPS actually free?
The site uses “100% free forever” language in some places, describes a 120-day free service elsewhere, and refers to a 180-day trial on its About page. These descriptions do not establish one clear, consistent duration. “Free” could mean a permanent no-charge tier, a time-limited trial, a promotion, or an account that is free but never results in a working server.
The Terms of Service, marked last modified April 24, 2026, describe the service as an “as-is” beta testing and development environment and reserve broad rights to modify, suspend or terminate service without notice or liability. Read the full terms rather than relying on a landing-page headline. Do not assume a free instance will remain available or that data on it will be retained.
Do users report receiving a working VPS?
Trustpilot displayed 17 reviews and a 1.9/5 score when crawled roughly two weeks before August 18, 2026. Reviewers reported pending activations, no activation email or server IP, unanswered support requests, and redirects to advertisements or paid offers. Trustpilot says the company had not invited reviews and warns that the sample may not be representative. These reviews describe user experiences; they are not conclusive proof of fraud.

The publicly available evidence does not demonstrate reliable VPS delivery, while multiple users report that activation failed.
How much weight should you give the positive reviews?
GratisVPS’s own reviews page claims a 4.8/5 score from 1,486 “verified” reviews, 99.95% uptime and regional benchmarks. It says benchmark results are community-submitted, normalized as a three-run median and moderated. These claims are hosted by the provider; independent raw results, third-party monitoring, an external audit or a clear reviewer-verification process were not established.

The 4.8/5 first-party score and Trustpilot’s 1.9/5 from 17 reviews come from different platforms and populations, so they are not directly comparable. The gap is still important context: neither score alone establishes how consistently the service provisions servers.
What are the main risks?
Unclear reliability and data retention
The beta and termination language means you should assume no production SLA, guaranteed uptime, guaranteed recovery or guaranteed notice before a free instance is changed or removed. Keep independent backups and never make the VPS the only copy of important data.
Account and privacy exposure
The Privacy Policy says the service may collect an email address for credentials, recovery codes and service notifications, along with device information for abuse prevention. Use a unique password and a disposable test account where practical. Do not submit identity documents or upload private keys, production secrets, customer records, proprietary source code or wallet credentials.
A Reddit user also alleged receiving spoofed Microsoft invoice or refund messages. That is an unverified user report, not evidence that GratisVPS sent them. Treat unexpected invoices, refunds or account-verification messages cautiously: inspect the sender and full headers, and do not follow unfamiliar links.
Unverified company and infrastructure claims
The material available does not independently establish GratisVPS’s legal entity, address, infrastructure operator, advertised locations, network ownership or claimed certifications. That absence is not proof of fraud, but it makes accountability and technical claims harder to assess. Ask for verifiable certificate identifiers, a named billing entity, clear support and abuse contacts, and independently checkable uptime information before trusting a provider with valuable workloads.
Windows licensing and acceptable use
Although the site advertises Windows VPS options, the available information does not establish the Windows edition, image source or licensing basis. Ask the provider for those details and how the license permits the advertised use before deploying Windows.

- Isolate the account. Use a secondary email address and a unique password. Enable app-based or hardware-based MFA if available.
- Keep payment and identity details out of the process. Do not provide payment information until the billing entity, cancellation procedure and refund terms are clear. Do not provide more personal information than the service needs.
- Stop at suspicious activation steps. Do not click advertisements to verify an account. Stop if you encounter unexpected payment redirects, suspicious downloads, requests for excessive personal information or unverifiable emails.
- Wait for verifiable server details. Do not install software or upload files until you have an IP address and working SSH or RDP access. An account dashboard or confirmation email alone is not proof of a usable VPS.
- Check a delivered Linux server with harmless commands. These are generic diagnostics, not commands verified against a GratisVPS control panel:

Also check that the advertised IP is reachable, compare its reverse DNS and network ownership with the provider’s claims, and confirm outbound connectivity. Do not run intrusive scans, traffic-generation tests, cryptocurrency miners or spam software. If the service produces suspicious redirects or unsolicited messages, stop using it, remove the account if possible and rotate any credentials you entered.

Oracle is the closest fit if you need a documented free tier and can handle its account and capacity requirements. AWS and Google Cloud are better suited to learning their platforms than to an unmonitored “free server.” For an always-on project where predictable delivery matters more than zero cost, a modest paid VPS from an established provider is a more sensible risk trade-off than paying GratisVPS before its billing, support and provisioning are independently confirmed.
Should you use GratisVPS?
Do not use GratisVPS for production or entrust it with sensitive information. Its advertised resources may look generous, but the free-term contradictions, limited provider accountability and user reports of failed activation leave reliability unproven. If you choose to investigate it anyway, use a disposable account and harmless test data, and stop if activation depends on ad clicks or unexplained payment redirects.
