In New Yahoo Mail on a desktop, open the message, select More options, and choose Print. When the preview appears, select a printer or Save to PDF, then confirm. Yahoo prints the message text; download attachments and print them separately.
Print a message in New Yahoo Mail
- Open the email fully (not just the inbox row).
- Select More options in the message toolbar.
- Choose Print.
- Wait for the browser or operating-system print window.
- Select your printer or Save to PDF, then choose Print or Save.
These are Yahoo’s instructions for the New Yahoo Mail desktop web experience. The interface can vary by account or region. See Yahoo’s current steps at Yahoo’s New Mail printing guide and its availability note at Yahoo Help.
Use the classic Yahoo Mail print control
If your account still has the older desktop layout, the control is different:
- Open the message.
- Click the Print icon.
- In the separate message window, click Print again.
- Complete the browser or system print prompts.
Yahoo documents this older workflow at its classic-interface printing page. Do not look for the old standalone icon if you are using New Yahoo Mail; use More options instead.

If Print is missing or clicking it does nothing
Work through these checks in order. They separate a Yahoo interface problem from a browser problem.
- Open the message. The print command normally appears in the open-message view, not the message list.
- Check the interface. In New Yahoo Mail, use More options → Print; in the classic layout, use the printer icon.
- Refresh and reopen. Reload Yahoo Mail, then open the message again.
- Test a private/incognito window. If printing works there, an extension or stored site data in the normal browser profile is a likely cause.
- Try another current supported browser. Yahoo lists current Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge support. Internet Explorer is not supported. Use the latest release rather than relying on a fixed version number; check Yahoo’s supported-browser page.
- Disable page-changing extensions temporarily. Test ad blockers, privacy tools, script blockers, and other extensions one at a time. Do not leave security protection disabled permanently.
- Clear Yahoo site data. Remove cached files and cookies for Yahoo, sign in again, and retry.
- Verify JavaScript is enabled. Yahoo says disabled JavaScript can prevent content from loading or responding. Follow Yahoo’s JavaScript guidance.
- Update the browser and check the connection. Older browser or operating-system combinations may not render Yahoo correctly. Yahoo’s general troubleshooting advice is at this help page.
- Reset the browser only last. Save bookmarks and important settings first. Yahoo notes that a reset can remove or change browser data and enhancements; see its reset guidance.
A popup or new-window restriction can also stop the separate print view from appearing. Allow popups for Yahoo Mail temporarily and test again.

If print preview is blank, hangs, or never opens
Use Save to PDF as a fault-isolation test:
- PDF also fails: the likely fault is Yahoo’s page rendering, the browser profile, an extension, JavaScript, or the browser’s preview layer. Try private browsing and another supported browser before changing printer software.
- PDF succeeds but the physical printer fails: Yahoo and the browser have produced printable output. Move to the printer checks in the next section.
- Only one browser fails: concentrate on that browser’s extensions, cached data, print settings, and profile.
- Only one message fails: the email may contain unusual HTML or embedded content. Test a plain, ordinary message to compare.
These tests identify where the failure occurs; they do not prove that Yahoo itself is experiencing a service outage.
Why only the message text prints
Yahoo’s documented email-print function prints the message text. Pictures and documents attached to the email are not automatically embedded in that print job.

Print an attachment separately
- Open or download the attachment.
- Print it from its own viewer or application.
- If you need one record, print the email and attachment as separate pages, or save both as PDFs and combine them with a PDF tool.
An image displayed inside the message can also be treated differently from a downloaded file. Yahoo does not promise that every attachment or embedded image will be reproduced by the message Print command.
When the printed layout looks different
Yahoo’s documentation promises the message text, not an identical copy of the on-screen design. Newsletters, marketing messages, invoices, and other HTML-heavy emails can reflow, omit background elements, or show images differently in print preview.

- Use Save to PDF when preserving the browser’s rendered result matters.
- Download an invoice, image, or document attachment and print it from the application designed for that file.
- If one browser produces poor formatting, compare its preview with another current supported browser.
Print from the Yahoo Mail app or a phone
Mobile does not use the desktop More options path. Yahoo’s mobile guidance uses the device’s own printing features, including AirPrint on supported iPhone and iPad setups and Android/Google Chrome printing options. Start with the message’s share or system menu, choose the device print command, select an available printer, and confirm. Exact labels depend on the operating system, app, browser, and printer. Once print preview opens or a PDF has been created, stop changing Yahoo settings and check the local print path:

- Confirm the intended printer is selected, powered on, and connected.
- Check the operating-system print queue for paused or stuck jobs and clear them if necessary.
- Verify paper, ink or toner, covers, and error indicators.
- Print a test page or another local document.
- Print the PDF saved from Yahoo Mail.
If the PDF and other documents also fail, contact the printer manufacturer or your operating-system support channel. If PDFs and other documents print normally but Yahoo fails in only one browser, contact that browser’s support resources after completing the browser isolation steps.
Cases that need a different workflow
Third-party mail programs
If you are printing Yahoo messages from Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, or another POP/IMAP client, these Yahoo Mail web steps do not apply. Troubleshoot the mail program’s own print command; Yahoo treats third-party access separately in its IMAP support documentation.
Mobile browser versus desktop browser
A phone browser may expose only the operating system’s share/print controls, while desktop web mail exposes Yahoo’s message menu. Use the instructions for the device actually displaying the message.
When to seek further help
Contact Yahoo Support if the print command is absent or fails for every message in multiple current browsers after JavaScript, extensions, cached data, and private-window tests have been checked. Contact the browser developer when Yahoo works elsewhere but not in one browser profile. Contact printer or operating-system support when a saved PDF and unrelated documents also fail to print.
