The OnePlus Nord 5 does not use MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400e. OnePlus specifies Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. The phone is a real 2025 model, but its battery capacity differs by market: India and selected markets list 6,800mAh, while European and some international versions list 5,200mAh.
The Dimensity 9400e is a separate MediaTek platform. Conflicting listings usually mislabel the Nord 5 or refer to another OnePlus/Oppo-family phone.

Which processor is in the OnePlus Nord 5?
The Nord 5 uses the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. OnePlus positions it as a high-performance platform for gaming and multitasking, with Pro Gamer mode, frame-rate enhancement and high-refresh-rate support. It is a powerful mid-range choice, not a phone built around MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400e.

What is the Dimensity 9400e?
MediaTek announced the Dimensity 9400e in May 2025 as a premium 5G smartphone platform. Its published design includes:
- One Cortex-X4 core up to 3.4GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores up to 2.85GHz and four Cortex-A720 cores up to 2.0GHz.
- Immortalis-G720 MC12 graphics and MediaTek NPU 790.
- LPDDR5X and LPDDR5T memory support and UFS 4 storage with MCQ.
- Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0.
- Support for displays up to 4K/120Hz or WQHD/180Hz and 4K/60 video capture.
- TSMC third-generation 4nm manufacturing.
These are capabilities of the separate Dimensity 9400e platform, not specifications of the Nord 5. MediaTek’s specifications are listed at mediatek.com/products/smartphones/mediatek-dimensity-9400e, with the launch overview at MediaTek’s announcement.
Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 versus Dimensity 9400e
The two chips have different CPU, GPU, memory, connectivity and AI architectures. The 9400e’s published specifications look more flagship-oriented on paper, but that does not establish how a Nord 5 would perform: the Nord 5 does not contain it. A fair winner-versus-winner judgment requires controlled tests of complete phones with comparable cooling, memory, storage, software and game settings.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
The accurate buying conclusion is simply that the Nord 5 is a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 phone, while a phone advertised with Dimensity 9400e is a different product.
Display and gaming experience
The 6.83-inch 144Hz AMOLED panel is central to the Nord 5’s appeal. The large, fast screen suits games, video and scrolling, and Aqua Touch is intended to preserve touch responsiveness when the display is wet. The trade-off is size: at roughly 77mm wide and 211g, this is not a compact one-handed phone.
OnePlus says supported configurations can run Call of Duty Mobile natively at 144fps and can use frame interpolation or Adaptive Frame Booster in selected games. A 144Hz panel does not mean every game renders at 144fps. Results depend on the title, graphics settings, temperature, software and selected mode. OnePlus’ battery and frame-rate figures use specified brightness, volume, game settings, ambient temperature, a 12GB model and enabled gaming features; they are controlled-company results, not a guarantee of everyday performance.
Bypass charging can supply power directly during gaming to reduce battery heat and repeated small charge cycles.

Cameras: strong headline numbers, limited versatility
The rear system combines a 50MP stabilized Sony LYT-700 main camera with an 8MP, 116-degree ultrawide. There is no dedicated telephoto camera. The front uses a 50MP Samsung ISOCELL JN5 with hardware autofocus, an unusual emphasis on selfie and video-call hardware in this class.
This setup fits buyers who prioritize selfies, calls, social video and daylight main-camera photographs. It is less suitable for long-range zoom or consistently detailed ultrawide photography. Independent review coverage found the cameras serviceable but less competitive than the phone’s performance and display, with visible detail loss from the ultrawide. Megapixel counts alone should not be treated as a picture-quality guarantee.
Battery capacity depends on the market
There is no single worldwide Nord 5 battery specification. Confirm the local model before comparing it with another phone.
| Market or version | Listed battery | Charging |
|---|---|---|
| India and selected markets | 6,800mAh typical capacity | 80W wired charging |
| Europe and selected international markets | 5,200mAh | 80W wired charging |
OnePlus India lists the 6,800mAh specification at oneplus.in/nord-5/specs. The European regional page lists 5,200mAh at oneplus.com/ee/nord-5. Network conditions, applications, screen settings, recharges, battery age and temperature all affect actual endurance, so laboratory claims should not be read as a universal runtime.
Software, updates and AI limitations
The Nord 5 launched with Android 15 and OxygenOS 15. OnePlus advertises four Android version upgrades, six years of security updates and a six-year system-fluency certification. Treat these as OnePlus’ stated policy and check the exact model and region for delivery timing.
Some AI functions require an internet connection, an account or subscription, and may arrive through updates. OnePlus says availability can vary by country, language, software version and local law.
Availability and model checks
The Nord 5 launched in selected markets in July 2025. Do not assume ordinary US availability, local warranty coverage or compatible network bands. Before ordering, verify the seller’s model number, battery capacity, RAM/storage, charger, supported bands, return policy and warranty. A 2025 launch price is not a current August 2026 price; use the live official regional store for today’s price and stock.

It makes sense for gamers
Choose it if sustained performance, a 144Hz AMOLED display, gaming controls and bypass charging matter more than camera versatility. The 6,800mAh regional version strengthens the proposition for battery-focused gaming.
Rank #3
- Large 5000mAh Battery: Provides long-lasting power for all-day use
- 6.49 Inch Full HD+ Display: Features a 90Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling and vivid visuals
- Octa-Core Processor: Runs at lightning-fast speeds for seamless multitasking
- Triple Camera System: Includes 13MP main, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth lenses for crisp, detailed photos
- 5G Capable: Connects to the fastest network speeds for lightning-fast downloads and streaming
It suits large-screen buyers
The display is excellent for entertainment and multitasking, provided you are comfortable with a large, approximately 211g handset.
Look elsewhere for photography
Buyers who need telephoto zoom, a stronger ultrawide or consistently class-leading photography should compare camera-first alternatives.
Be cautious in the United States
Unclear official availability, warranty and band support can make an imported Nord 5 a poor fit even if the hardware is attractive.
Consider alternatives if you own a Nord 4
A discounted Nord 4 may offer better value in some configurations, including cases with more RAM. Compare the actual local price and specification rather than upgrading solely for the model number.

If the MediaTek chip is your requirement, the Nord 5 is the wrong model. Look for a phone whose official specification explicitly names Dimensity 9400e.
Common specification mistakes
- Wrong chipset: “Dimensity 9400e Nord 5” conflicts with OnePlus’ official Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 specification.
- Flattened battery data: 6,800mAh and 5,200mAh refer to different regional versions.
- Overstated frame rates: 144Hz display support is not universal 144fps gaming.
- Overstated camera quality: 50MP branding does not add a telephoto camera or guarantee superior images.
- Unverified availability: country, warranty, bands, charger and software support must be checked for the exact model.
