Nokia 105 4G and 110 4G 2nd Edition: USB-C, IP54 and Up to 12 Days of Standby

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

HMD introduced the Nokia 105 4G 2nd Edition and Nokia 110 4G 2nd Edition in European markets in December 2024. These are basic 4G feature-phone refreshes of the 2023-generation models, not Android smartphones or major redesigns. USB-C charging, a refreshed exterior and an integrated torch are the key updates. Both have removable 1,450 mAh batteries, an advertised standby rating of up to 12 days and IP54 dust-and-splash protection. The Nokia 110 adds a very basic rear camera; the Nokia 105 does not.

There is an important 2026 qualification: HMD’s UK product pages now mark both phones “Discontinued” and “no longer available.” Remaining listings may be old stock, imports, used phones or incorrectly identified versions.

What HMD announced

The two models are the Nokia 105 4G 2nd Edition (model TA-1691) and Nokia 110 4G 2nd Edition (TA-1661). HMD’s European documentation identifies them as 4G feature phones with S30+ software reported by secondary specification coverage. They are related to the 2023 Nokia 105 4G and Nokia 110 4G, but should not be confused with separate 2024-branded Nokia or HMD models sold in some markets.

Launch coverage appeared in December 2024. HMD did not establish a continuing worldwide retail launch, and European availability should not be taken as evidence that either phone was officially sold in the United States.

#1 Best Overall
Nokia 105 4G | Dual SIM | GSM Unlocked Mobile Phone | Volte | Charcoal | International Version | Not AT&T/Cricket/Verizon Compatible
  • Compatibility: The Nokia 105 4G works with GSM carriers like T-Mobile and T-Mobile subsidiaries, but not AT&T, Cricket, Verizon or Verizon/AT&T subsidiaries.
  • Large buttons and zoomed menus for easy navigation on the 1.8" display
  • Stay connected with crisp, clear calls over 4G VoLTE
  • Long 12 hour battery life to keep you talking and texting
  • Rear camera, LED flashlight, games, and FM radio for entertainment

What changed from the earlier generation?

  • USB-C replaces micro-USB. This makes the connector more common on current accessories, but HMD’s product sheet specifies USB 2.0 rather than fast charging.
  • Refreshed exterior and rear branding. The back uses HMD’s “Makers of Nokia Phones” identity.
  • Integrated flashlight. Both phones include a torch.
  • Camera distinction remains. The Nokia 110 has a rear camera; the Nokia 105 is camera-free.
  • Small feature-phone display. The 2nd Edition models use an approximately 1.77-inch QQVGA screen, commonly listed as 120 × 160 pixels. That is smaller than the 2.4-inch displays associated with separate 2024 models.

This is therefore a practical connector and design refresh, not a performance upgrade.

Primary model, battery, memory, camera, charging and protection details come from HMD’s EU product information sheet. Display, Bluetooth, microSD-capacity and talk-time details are reported in launch and secondary specification coverage, including Notebookcheck and NokiaNews. HMD’s sheet does not fully document every secondary specification, so listings should not be treated as equally authoritative.

What “up to 12 days” really means

The 12-day figure is a manufacturer-rated standby maximum, not a promise that a phone will last 12 days with regular calls, messages and media use. Signal strength, SIM configuration, network registration, calls, Bluetooth, torch use, FM radio, music, temperature and battery age all change endurance. Launch coverage also reported up to eight hours of talk time.

The battery is removable and identified as BL-L5H. HMD notes that rechargeable capacity declines with age and through limited recharge cycles. A replacement can extend ownership, but parts availability is not guaranteed in every country.

IP54 explained

IP54 means limited protection against dust and protection from water splashes. It does not mean waterproofing. Do not submerge either phone, rinse it under a tap, use it while swimming or assume it is safe in sustained heavy rain.

Impact damage, opened or poorly fitted covers, aging seals and repairs can reduce resistance. Treat IP54 as protection against everyday splashes and dusty environments, not as a rugged-phone guarantee.

Nokia 105 versus Nokia 110: which is better?

Choose the Nokia 105 4G 2nd Edition for simplicity

  • You do not need a camera.
  • You want a distraction-light emergency, travel, work or backup phone.
  • Calling, texting, FM radio, a keypad and long standby matter more than multimedia.

Choose the Nokia 110 4G 2nd Edition for the extra camera

  • You want the same basic platform with a rear camera.
  • You plan to use removable storage for MP3 files or recordings.
  • The price premium is small and the phone is in better condition than an available 105.

The Nokia 110 is not a faster or fundamentally more capable phone. Its main hardware difference is the 0.08 MP camera, which is a basic feature rather than a serious photography tool. For minimalism, the 105 is the cleaner choice; for the most features within this pair, choose the 110.

4G does not guarantee carrier compatibility

Both phones use 4G, but calling depends on the carrier’s LTE bands, certification and VoLTE provisioning. HMD qualifies HD calling as dependent on local carrier services and HMD support for that operator.

  1. Ask the carrier whether the exact model number—TA-1691 or TA-1661—is supported.
  2. Compare the phone’s LTE bands with those used in your region.
  3. Confirm that VoLTE is enabled for the device; a 4G badge alone is insufficient.
  4. Check whether the handset is unlocked and whether imported firmware or regional variants affect service.
  5. For a US purchase, obtain written compatibility confirmation before buying a European-market import.

Availability and buying checks in 2026

HMD’s UK pages for the Nokia 105 4G 2nd Edition and Nokia 110 4G 2nd Edition now state that the products are discontinued and no longer available. HMD does not show a current official price for either model.

Third-party listings may still be legitimate remaining stock, but they can also be imports, refurbished phones or listings that mix specifications from the 2023, 2024 and 2nd Edition models. Before paying, verify:

  • 1.3GHz Quad-Core Processor

  • the exact “2nd Edition” name and TA-1691 or TA-1661 identifier;
  • unlocked status, LTE bands and VoLTE support;
  • battery condition and whether a genuine BL-L5H battery is installed;
  • whether the USB-C charger or cable is included;
  • whether a microSD card is included (it is not guaranteed);
  • seller location, warranty, returns and the phone’s software or region.

HMD’s user guides also caution that chargers, headsets and data cables may be sold separately: Nokia 105 guide and Nokia 110 guide.

Who should skip these phones?

Do not buy either model expecting Google Play, Wi-Fi, modern social apps, streaming services, GPS navigation, smartphone messaging or a useful camera. Internal storage is only 48 MB; music, recordings and camera files require removable storage, and the platform is not designed for large media libraries or app-heavy use.

If new official stock matters, compare currently listed alternatives through HMD’s feature-phone lineup, such as the Nokia 225 4G (2024), Nokia 3210 4G, HMD 105 4G, HMD 110 4G or HMD 2660 Flip 4G. Their specifications and availability differ, so check each product page rather than assuming they match the 2nd Edition models.

Verdict

The Nokia 105 4G 2nd Edition and Nokia 110 4G 2nd Edition were sensible 2024 refreshes: USB-C, a torch, removable batteries, 4G calling and IP54 protection in simple candy-bar phones. The advertised “12-day battery” means up to 12 days of standby, and IP54 means splash resistance—not waterproofing. In 2026, the decision is less about launch specifications than about finding correctly identified stock at a sensible price, confirming carrier support and checking battery condition. Choose the 105 for maximum simplicity, or the 110 only when its basic camera and multimedia extras justify the added risk of discontinued stock.
