Yes. Samsung lists the Galaxy Tab S9 FE as eligible for One UI 7.0, which is based on Android 15. Samsung delivered it to Tab S9 FE variants during 2025, but timing depended on model, country and carrier. In 2026, some models have moved on to One UI 8.0/Android 16, so check for the newest update your tablet offers rather than seeking out One UI 7 specifically.
One UI 7 status for the Galaxy Tab S9 FE
Samsung’s U.S. compatibility list includes both the Galaxy Tab S9 FE and Tab S9 FE+. They are separate devices, however, and eligibility does not mean they receive identical firmware or updates on the same day. Wi‑Fi and 5G models also have different firmware channels.
One UI 7.0 is Samsung’s Android 15-based software. For a concrete U.S. example, Samsung’s firmware history records the Galaxy Tab S9 FE 5G, model SM-X518U, receiving the One UI 7.0/Android 15 upgrade as build X518USQU8CYE1 on June 9, 2025. That is the release date for that model’s U.S. firmware record, not a worldwide launch date. Samsung notes that update contents and timing vary by model, country and network operator.

How to check for and install the update
Before installing a major update, it is sensible to back up important files, photos and Samsung Notes, connect to reliable Wi‑Fi, charge the tablet or plug it in, and make sure there is enough free storage. These are precautions, not a guarantee that every model has the same requirements.
- Open Settings.
- Tap Software update or, on some carrier software, System updates.
- Tap Download and install.
- Tap Check for system updates or Check for software updates.
- If an update is offered, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install it. Depending on the device, the download control may instead say Download now.
These are Samsung’s documented update steps; labels can differ by device or carrier. Afterward, update important apps if needed and check that your files and Home-screen arrangement are intact. Samsung’s guide is at Samsung U.S. One UI 7 compatibility and installation.

How to confirm which version is installed
Open Settings → About tablet → Software information. Check the One UI version, Android version, build number and Android security patch level. One UI 7 corresponds to Android 15; One UI 8 corresponds to Android 16. If your tablet already reports Android 16, it has moved beyond One UI 7.
What changes with One UI 7 on the tablet
Separate notification and Quick Settings panels
By default, swiping down from the top-right opens Quick Settings, while swiping down from elsewhere along the top edge opens notifications. This can feel unfamiliar if you expect one swipe to show both. Samsung’s regional guide describes the separated panels as the default behavior: One UI 7 upgrade with Android 15.

Redesigned interface and Home screen
Samsung’s firmware notes describe redesigned buttons, menus, notifications and control bars, with rounder elements, new colors, softer animations and blur effects. App icons and widgets are refreshed, and the Home screen uses a more standardized grid. Samsung’s regional guide specifies 4×6 and 5×6 Home-screen grid options; an update may alter a layout used previously. Before updating, take a screenshot of a carefully arranged Home screen if you want a reference for restoring icon and widget placement. Also check folder size and landscape layout afterward.
Expandable folders
You can enlarge a Home-screen folder to make apps accessible without opening it first. Long-press the folder and choose the enlarge option. The option may not be useful for every layout, so use it where quick access matters.

Now Bar and notifications
The Lock-screen Now Bar can surface ongoing activities such as media controls, a stopwatch, timer, Voice Recorder or Samsung Health. Which activities appear depends on supported apps, settings and the tablet variant. Samsung’s regional guide also says notification sorting changes by default from Priority Order to Time Order, placing notifications according to when they arrived.
Game Booster and Samsung Notes
One UI 7 integrates individual game settings into the Game Booster settings menu. This is relevant when playing supported games, but it is not evidence of a performance improvement for the Tab S9 FE. In Samsung Notes, the search menu supports up to 10 recent tags, and tags can also be found through search. These feature details are in Samsung’s One UI 7 guide.

Features can differ by device
A shared One UI version does not ensure that every feature is available on every tablet. Availability can depend on hardware, model, region, carrier and app support. Samsung does not promise that the Tab S9 FE gets the complete Galaxy S25 feature set; do not assume phone-specific functions or all Galaxy AI features are included.

- Your tablet already has a newer release. Samsung’s Wi‑Fi SM-X510 history records One UI 8.0/Android 16 from November 11, 2025, followed by later Android 16 security updates, including a build released May 14, 2026. Dates apply to that firmware record, not every variant.
- You are checking a different model or firmware channel. Find the model number in Settings → About tablet. Wi‑Fi, 5G, unlocked and carrier-branded versions can receive separate builds.
- The local rollout differs. Samsung says timing varies by model, country and network operator. A compatibility listing confirms eligibility, not simultaneous availability to every unit.
- The tablet was imported or modified. Imported devices may continue to follow their original firmware region. A modified device may not follow the usual update path.
- The update is not offered to the current build yet. A matching product name alone does not establish that a particular unit is on the right firmware channel.
What to do if an update check fails
- Restart the tablet, then check again at Settings → Software update → Download and install.
- Confirm that Wi‑Fi is stable, the tablet has sufficient charge and there is enough storage for the download.
- Install any pending app or Google Play system updates if the tablet offers them.
- Look up the exact model number on Samsung’s model-specific firmware page. For example, Samsung publishes separate histories for SM-X518U and SM-X510.
- If the tablet is carrier-branded, consult that carrier’s update support information.
- Use Samsung’s official desktop update or recovery method only if the normal update process fails and you can identify the exact model and region.
Do not install firmware for another model or country just because its product name looks similar. Cross-flashing can risk data loss, a nonworking device or carrier-compatibility problems.
Should you install One UI 7, or look for a newer update?
Install the newest official update offered for your exact tablet. One UI 7 is the Android 15 upgrade, but Samsung’s firmware history shows the Wi‑Fi SM-X510 progressing to One UI 8/Android 16 and receiving later Android 16 security updates. If your tablet offers One UI 8 or another newer official release, there is no reason to seek out an older One UI 7 package instead. The documented SM-X510 history establishes that progression for that model and firmware channel; it does not establish identical timing for every Tab S9 FE variant.
