Verdict: The Huawei P60 remains an attractive camera-centric phone if you can accept 4G-only connectivity, no native Google Play services, and region-dependent support. Its variable-aperture main camera, sharp LTPO OLED display, and premium design are still compelling, but a newer 5G Android phone or iPhone is usually the safer primary phone in 2026. Chinese and international versions also differ significantly, so the exact model and software region matter more than the name on the box.
What the Huawei P60 is
The P60 is Huawei’s standard photography-focused flagship from the 2023 P60 family, positioned below the P60 Pro and P60 Art. It is a real standalone model, not merely a series label. Huawei’s XMAGE imaging system, curved glass design and high-refresh OLED screen are its headline features.
Huawei announced the family in China on March 23, 2023; selected international markets received the range later, including a global launch event reported for May 9, 2023 (Huawei China support; Gadgets 360). Chinese phones launched with HarmonyOS 3.1, while international units were sold with EMUI 13.1.

Design and display
The P60 combines a curved-edge 6.67-inch OLED panel with 2700×1220 resolution and adaptive refresh up to 120Hz. OLED contrast gives deep blacks, while high refresh makes scrolling and animation feel smoother. Curved edges look premium but can increase accidental touches and make screen-protector fitting more difficult.
Huawei’s China material describes a 1–120Hz LTPO display and IP68 dust and water resistance (Huawei China P60 series support). IP68 is not a promise of waterproofing: drops, repairs, aging and seal damage can reduce resistance, and liquid damage is not automatically covered by warranty.
Camera: the P60’s main reason to buy
Variable-aperture main camera
The 48MP main camera uses a physical f/1.4–f/4.0 variable aperture and optical stabilization. Opening the lens can admit more light in dim scenes; stopping it down can provide exposure and depth-of-field control. This is a genuinely unusual feature among phones and can produce a more flexible camera experience than a fixed-aperture rival.

It does not guarantee better photos in every situation. Processing, autofocus, subject movement, lighting and the selected mode still determine results. The specifications are documented on Huawei’s P60 specification page.
Zoom and telephoto limitations
The standard P60 has a 12MP f/3.4 stabilized telephoto camera. That is a significant hardware compromise against the P60 Pro’s 48MP telephoto. Portraits, distant detail, heavy crops and low-light zoom therefore favor the Pro. Do not use P60 Pro camera samples or reviews as evidence for the regular P60.
Ultrawide, selfie and video cameras
The 13MP ultrawide suits landscapes, architecture, groups and confined rooms. Image quality depends on edge detail, color matching with the main sensor and available light, not megapixel count alone. A 13MP f/2.4 ultrawide selfie camera gives a broad field of view for groups, but wide framing is not the same as superior image quality. Huawei lists video recording up to 4K, with frame rates and modes dependent on the exact regional software and hardware.

Performance, connectivity and gaming
Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 performance remains fast for everyday apps and demanding games, although it is a 2022-era platform. Sustained gaming can expose heat and throttling that short benchmark runs do not show. The decisive connectivity limitation is that Huawei uses a 4G-only version of the chip. Buyers expecting long-term 5G coverage should treat that as a deal-breaker.
LTE bands, VoLTE certification, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, dual-SIM behavior and any satellite features depend on the exact regional model. Satellite messaging described in Chinese material should not be assumed to work on an international P60.

What U.S. buyers must verify
- Exact model number and whether it is Chinese HarmonyOS or international EMUI hardware.
- LTE bands and VoLTE support for the intended carrier.
- IMEI acceptance and physical-SIM or eSIM configuration.
- Carrier unlock status and importer or seller warranty.
- Availability of local replacement parts and service.
Huawei’s regional selector lists Canada but not the United States as a North American consumer-market option (Huawei worldwide selector). That does not rule out importers, but it means U.S. support and compatibility are seller-specific.

Software and the Google-app reality
HarmonyOS versus EMUI
Chinese P60 units launched with HarmonyOS 3.1; international units used EMUI 13.1. They are different regional software packages, not interchangeable labels. A seller advertising a “global” phone should identify the model number, original market and current firmware.
Google services and AppGallery
International coverage describes EMUI without the Google Play Store and Google Mobile Services (TechRadar overview). In practice, there is no native Google Play installation or Google-certified experience. Google sign-in, push notifications, banking, streaming, location-dependent apps, enterprise tools, Android Auto and contactless payments may behave differently or fail.
Some apps can work through a browser, AppGallery, third-party distribution or a compatibility container, but support varies by app and software build. Sideloading does not recreate Google certification, and unofficial workarounds can stop working after updates or introduce security risks. Check every essential app before purchase rather than relying on a generic “Android compatible” claim.

Huawei ID supports services such as AppGallery, Cloud, Themes, Wallet and GameCenter (Huawei Russia product page). Confirm local payment, backup and wearable support before switching from another Android phone.

Huawei lists a 4,815mAh typical capacity and 4,715mAh rated capacity, with up to 66W wired and 50W wireless charging (Huawei Russia specifications). Real endurance depends on screen brightness, camera use, weak-signal LTE and software. A used 2023 handset may have substantially less capacity than its launch specification, so battery health matters more than the printed number.
Check whether the seller includes the appropriate Huawei adapter and cable. Regional accessories, plugs and charging behavior vary. Huawei’s UAE catalog listed a 6A USB-A-to-USB-C charger at AED 30 and an 80W smartphone charger at AED 80 when crawled; those are UAE prices, not U.S. prices, and an 80W charger does not make the P60 charge beyond its 66W rating (Huawei UAE accessories).

Huawei’s Russia and Kazakhstan P60 store pages showed the handset out of stock in the August 16, 2026 snapshot. UAE P60 cases were also shown as out of stock (Russia; Kazakhstan; UAE case). Availability therefore means remaining new stock, used units, refurbished phones or imports—not a universal current price.
- Ask for the exact model number, original sales region and storage configuration.
- Confirm the phone is not seller-modified and that normal OTA updates work.
- Check LTE bands, VoLTE and IMEI acceptance with your carrier.
- Test battery health, display, cameras, charging ports and biometric hardware on used units.
- Verify whether the warranty is manufacturer-backed or seller-backed.
- Confirm local service-center access and replacement-part pricing through Huawei’s repair portal.
- List essential banking, work, navigation, streaming, payment and wearable apps, then verify each one for the specific firmware.
Who should buy the Huawei P60?
- Photography-focused buyers who value a physical variable aperture.
- People who want a premium OLED design and can live with 4G.
- Existing Huawei users comfortable with AppGallery and non-Google services.
- Buyers finding a materially discounted, warranty-backed unit.
Who should avoid it?
- Anyone requiring 5G or broad future network support.
- Users dependent on Google Play, Google Maps integration, Android Auto or certified banking and enterprise apps.
- U.S. buyers who cannot verify bands, VoLTE, IMEI acceptance and warranty coverage.
- Anyone paying close to the price of a newer 5G Android flagship or iPhone.
- Buyers seeking Huawei’s best zoom camera; the P60 Pro is materially stronger.
Alternatives
A current Samsung, Google Pixel, OnePlus, Xiaomi or similar Android flagship generally offers 5G, Google Play, longer remaining support, wider U.S. carrier compatibility and easier repairs. A recent iPhone is the safer choice for long software support, app availability, video, resale value and accessory coverage. A discounted recent-generation Galaxy, Pixel or iPhone can also be a better ownership proposition than an imported P60 when prices are similar.
