Motorola Android 16 Update: Official US Phone List, Rollout Status and How to Check

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Motorola’s US Android 16 page lists six models: the moto g – 2025, moto g power – 2025, motorola edge 50 fusion, motorola edge 50 pro, motorola edge 60 fusion and motorola edge 60 pro. Being listed means Motorola has identified a model for the update; it does not mean the update is already available to every owner. Region, carrier and software channel can affect timing and eligibility.

Which Motorola phones are on the US Android 16 list?

Motorola’s US Android 16 page currently displays these six models:

Family Model shown on Motorola’s US page Status
Moto G moto g – 2025 Listed for Android 16
Moto G moto g power – 2025 Listed for Android 16
Edge motorola edge 50 fusion Listed for Android 16
Edge motorola edge 50 pro Listed for Android 16
Edge motorola edge 60 fusion Listed for Android 16
Edge motorola edge 60 pro Listed for Android 16

This is the list displayed on Motorola’s US support page, not a definitive worldwide roster. The page has categories for Moto G, Edge, Razr and other devices, and models sold in other countries may differ. Motorola says upgrade plans, timing and availability can change. Check the Motorola software-upgrade page using the phone’s purchase location and device details before treating a model as confirmed for your specific market.

What about Razr, ThinkPhone and other models?

Other regional Motorola pages and independent reports cover additional Razr, Edge, Moto G and ThinkPhone devices. Do not assume a model on an international list is supported by the US variant with a similar name. Motorola’s upgrade guide provides a route to check a device’s next Android upgrade based on purchase location and device information.

#1 Best Overall
Motorola Moto G 2025, 128GB + 4GB RAM, Forest Gray - Unlocked (Renewed)
  • Fluid 120Hz Display: Features a large 6.7-inch HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for smooth scrolling and added durability.

Names can be especially confusing for Razr phones: “Razr 2025,” “Razr 60,” “Razr+ 2025” and “Razr 60 Ultra” may refer to market-specific naming rather than interchangeable US models. Edge 60 models may also be sold outside the United States. Motorola model coverage notes these regional naming and availability differences.

“Moto G 2025” also is not a safe shorthand for every 2025 Moto G variant. The base model, Power, Play, Stylus and carrier-specific versions may have different support status. Check the complete model name and model number in the phone’s settings, then compare them with the appropriate Motorola regional support page.

Does being listed mean Android 16 is already available?

No. Eligibility, availability and installation are separate stages:

  2. Available: Motorola has made the over-the-air update available for that exact device variant, region, carrier and software channel.
  3. Installed: The phone has downloaded and completed the upgrade.

Motorola says Android 16 was released to AOSP and that it is working with technology and carrier partners to deliver the update. Its software and security update information cautions that plans and timing can change, and that carriers may follow different update cycles. Independent reporting also described Motorola’s stable rollout as phased rather than simultaneous across devices: Cinco Días, February 9, 2026.

Consequently, two owners of phones with similar names may see different results. A carrier-branded phone may be on a different schedule from an unlocked device; a phone sold in another country may use different firmware or require different carrier certification. Motorola has not provided one global release date that applies to every model and market.

How to check for Android 16 on a Motorola phone

  1. Connect to Wi-Fi and make sure the phone has sufficient battery for an installation.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Tap System, then Software updates.
  4. Choose System update or Check for updates. The exact wording varies by model, Android build, language and carrier.
  5. If Android 16 is offered, follow the on-screen instructions. Restart if prompted.
  6. After the phone reboots, open Settings → About phone → Android version to confirm the installed version.

If the menu path differs or you want to verify the model’s planned upgrade, use the links on Motorola’s official software-upgrade page.

What Android 16 may change on Motorola phones

Motorola’s Android 16 guides describe a set of changes, but features can vary by hardware, market and software build. The Razr 2025 Android 16 guide and the Edge 2026 Android 16 guide document examples including:

  • A centralized Modes area for Do Not Disturb, Bedtime, Driving and custom modes.
  • One-tap hotspot connections in some situations involving devices signed in to the same Google account.
  • Improved support for Bluetooth Low Energy hearing aids, including microphone and ambient-sound controls.
  • Notification grouping and organization, plus general security, compatibility and performance improvements.

These are guide-documented examples, not a promise that every listed feature will appear on every Motorola phone. Motorola may rename, limit or omit features based on device capabilities and regional or carrier software.

What to do if no update appears

A missing update by itself does not establish that a phone is unsupported. Check these points in order:

  • Long-lasting battery + TurboPower charging. Power through day after day with a 5200mAh battery, then get hours of power in just minutes.****
  • Confirm the exact model. “Edge” or “Moto G” alone is not enough to match a support listing.
  • Check the sales and carrier variant. Identify whether the phone is unlocked, carrier-branded or imported, and note the country where it was purchased.
  • Install pending updates. An earlier maintenance or security update may need to be installed before a later upgrade is offered.
  • Check practical requirements. Make sure the phone has adequate free storage and battery, then restart and check again later.
  • Use Motorola’s checker. Confirm the expected upgrade for the exact device and purchase region through Motorola’s software-upgrade tools.

Motorola links a Software Fix tool from its software-upgrade page, but it is not a guaranteed way to force Android 16 or bypass carrier and regional restrictions. Do not use firmware from an unrelated region or unofficial update APKs and unknown flashing tools to try to obtain the update; the wrong software can cause device or support problems.

Android 16 is no longer Motorola’s newest Android version

By August 2026, Android 17 had become the newer major Android release. Android Central reported that Motorola had confirmed more than 50 devices for Android 17, while some phones eligible for Android 16 were still waiting for that earlier upgrade. For current owners, the Android 16 list remains useful for checking compatibility and rollout status; it should not be read as a promise that a phone is current on Android or will receive Android 17.

What to check before buying a Motorola phone for updates

If long-term support is a priority, judge the exact model rather than relying on the Moto G, Edge or Razr family name. Check Motorola’s US smartphone listings and support pages for the model you plan to buy, and compare:

  • The total price after discounts or carrier financing, alongside the remaining support period.

Security updates and major Android upgrades are different commitments: receiving security patches does not guarantee another Android version, and a new Android version does not mean the security patch is the latest one. Motorola’s security-update information addresses security support separately from Android OS upgrades. Prices, stock, carrier offers and update availability vary by model and region; verify them on Motorola’s current product and support pages.

Motorola’s support pages and rollout information can change. The US list and status described here were checked on August 18, 2026.
