Google Whisk Reached Brazil in 2025—Here’s What Happened Next

Google Whisk became available in Brazil as part of a worldwide expansion announced on February 11, 2025—not in a separate Brazil-only launch. The image-remixing experiment is now in transition: Google said Whisk’s capabilities were moving to Flow and set April 30, 2026, as its discontinuation date in a Workspace notice. Whisk’s Portuguese FAQ still lists Brazil, so check Google’s live pages rather than assume every account has the same access.

When did Google Whisk reach Brazil?

Google first introduced Whisk in the United States on December 16, 2024, as an experimental Google Labs tool. On February 11, 2025, it announced an expansion to more than 100 additional countries. Brazil appears on Google’s Portuguese-language Whisk availability page, supporting the conclusion that Brazilians gained access in that broader rollout—not through a separately announced Brazilian launch.

Google’s original Whisk announcement and its international expansion announcement document those two stages.

What did Whisk do?

Whisk was built for visual ideation and remixing, not conventional, pixel-level image editing. Instead of relying only on a written prompt, users could provide reference images for three roles:

  • Subject: the person, object, creature, or character to feature.
  • Scene: the setting or background.
  • Style: the intended visual treatment or aesthetic.

Whisk combined those references to create a new image. In Google’s December 2024 explanation, Gemini first analyzed the inputs and wrote captions describing them; an image-generation model then used those descriptions to make the result. Google named Imagen 3 as the model at launch. Later Google materials describe the image model more generally, so Imagen 3 should be understood as the original disclosed implementation, not a confirmed description of the 2026 backend.

The aim was to capture the references’ “essence,” not reproduce them exactly. A result might change a person’s facial features, skin tone, hairstyle, height, or build, or retain only some characteristics of a reference. Editing the generated prompt could help steer a result, but it did not guarantee an exact likeness or composition.

How to try Whisk—or find its successor

Google’s Portuguese FAQ lists Brazil among supported countries and says users must be over 18 in listed markets. Access can still vary with account eligibility, region, language, rollout, and the product’s transition. Google Labs experiments can change, so the instructions below describe the general workflow rather than promise particular buttons or controls.

  1. Open the Whisk Portuguese FAQ or Google Labs Whisk page and sign in with a Google Account.
  2. If Whisk is available to your account, provide reference images for the subject, scene, and style.
  3. Generate an image and review whether it preserves the attributes that matter to you.
  4. If the result misses something, inspect and edit the prompt if that option is available, then try again.
  5. Save or download work you want to keep while the library remains accessible. If Whisk redirects, fails to load, or no longer offers its former workflow, check Google Flow.

Brazil being listed as supported does not guarantee identical features or quotas for every account. If Whisk does not appear, check the account, age, and regional eligibility described in Google’s FAQ, then check whether the live product page points you to Flow.

Whisk Animate: how image-to-video fits in

Whisk began as an image-remixing experiment and later added image-to-video generation. Google’s April 15, 2025 announcement described Whisk Animate making eight-second clips with Veo 2 for eligible subscribers. Google’s current Portuguese FAQ instead refers to animated Whisk images using Veo 3. It also describes five free videos per month in countries where Google One is available, with higher limits through Google AI Pro or Ultra.

Those are different points in a changing product history, not a single specification to apply to every user today. Model access and limits depend on the current interface and eligibility. Google’s announcement is about the April 2025 Veo 2 rollout; consult the current Portuguese FAQ for Google’s later description.

What changed in 2026: Whisk is moving to Flow

Google announced that Whisk’s best capabilities were moving into Flow, its unified image-and-video creation workspace. A Google Workspace Updates notice set April 30, 2026, as the date Whisk would be discontinued in the applicable Workspace rollout. The notice warned that media left in a Whisk library after that date would be permanently deleted and unrecoverable.

That notice does not establish that every consumer account in Brazil lost Whisk on that date. Google’s Portuguese FAQ still describes the tool and lists Brazil, while the Workspace notice describes a specific rollout. Taken together, those sources make Whisk’s status as a standalone consumer product uncertain; Google’s live pages are the best way to check access. Flow is the safer destination to try for Google’s current image-and-video workflow, though its availability may differ from Whisk’s.

See Google’s Workspace migration notice, Flow update, and Flow page. If your Whisk library is still accessible, download anything important rather than assuming it will transfer.

Is Whisk free in Brazil?

Google’s current Portuguese FAQ describes a limited free video allowance for Whisk animation in countries where Google One is available, and higher limits through Google AI Pro or Ultra. It does not establish a universal image-generation quota or guarantee that every Brazilian account has the same free access. Check the signed-in product interface for the limits and features available to your account before choosing a paid plan.

Google announced Google AI Plus in Brazil at R$24.99 per month on October 7, 2025, describing access to AI tools that at the time included Whisk and Flow, along with 200 GB of storage. Those are details from that announcement, not a guarantee of current plan benefits. Check Google’s Brazil AI Plus announcement and Brazil subscription page for current pricing and entitlements. A subscription may not make sense if you only want occasional still-image experiments or need precise editing controls.

Which tool fits if Whisk is not available?

Choose based on the job, not just the image generator. Whisk’s reference-image workflow was useful for quick combinations and concept exploration; other tools are built around different needs.

Tool Best fit Important distinction
Google Flow People looking for Google’s combined image-and-video creation workflow. Google describes it as a unified workspace; availability and generation costs can vary by model and output.
Canva Social graphics, presentations, thumbnails, templates, and marketing materials. A design platform with AI features integrated into layouts and publishing, rather than a tool centered on reference-image remixing.
Adobe Firefly Creative Cloud users who need generative editing and production workflows. Better aligned with controlled editing and Adobe-app integration than quick experimental remixing.
Midjourney Users prioritizing stylized, artistic, or cinematic image generation. More focused on prompt-driven image creation than a conventional editor or Google ecosystem workflow.

Whisk or Flow is a stronger fit for brainstorming, moodboards, concept art, thumbnails, and story development when exact likeness and precise layout are not essential. For masks, layers, nondestructive retouching, dependable identity preservation, or precise commercial-production control, use a dedicated editor or design workflow instead.

Before uploading sensitive, private, or personally identifying images, review Google’s applicable privacy terms. Do not assume every generated image is automatically cleared for commercial use; check the relevant service terms and usage policies for your project.
