WWDC 2024 did not produce a new Apple TV, Mac Studio, Mac Pro, MacBook Air or AirTag. But calling those products “postponed” goes further than the evidence allows: Apple had not announced any of them for the conference. They were rumored possibilities whose expected windows extended beyond the June 10–14 event.
Apple instead made the keynote about Apple Intelligence and its operating systems. The five products below were absent from the confirmed agenda, not proven casualties of a delayed WWDC launch.
What WWDC 2024 actually announced
Apple’s June 10 keynote introduced iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia, watchOS 11, visionOS 2 and tvOS 18, alongside Apple Intelligence and ChatGPT integration. Apple’s official summary is available at Apple’s WWDC24 highlights.
Apple Intelligence brought a redesigned Siri, writing tools, on-screen awareness, personal-context features and cross-app actions to supported iPhone, iPad and Mac hardware. Apple said the initial beta would be in U.S. English and would require an iPhone 15 Pro or Pro Max, or an iPad or Mac with an M1 chip or later. That software-heavy agenda was a deliberate fit for a developer conference. Apple has used earlier WWDC keynotes to unveil products such as Mac Studio, the 15-inch MacBook Air, Mac Pro and Apple Vision Pro, but that history creates an expectation, not an annual hardware obligation.
The five products rumored around WWDC

These windows came from secondary reporting, including the June 3, 2024 BGR report at bgr.com/tech/dont-expect-any-new-apple-devices-to-be-announced-at-wwdc/. They were rumor targets, not Apple commitments.
1. Fourth-generation Apple TV 4K
Reports before WWDC suggested that a new Apple TV might arrive in the first half of 2024. The same coverage described the product as “not imminent” and floated a second-half-of-2024 release. “Not imminent” does not establish that Apple had delayed a scheduled launch, and no specifications were confirmed.

What the absence means
Apple simply did not announce an Apple TV 4K at WWDC. There is no public date against which to measure a postponement, and the rumored processor, gaming improvements and smart-home changes were unknown.

- Wait: Your existing box works and you are willing to accept an unconfirmed date for a possible chip or connectivity update.
The mistake is treating “not imminent” as evidence that a new model was definitely coming later that year.
2. New Mac Studio
The rumored Mac Studio refresh was more plausible than some of the other entries because the desktop has an established upgrade cycle. The forecast called for a mid-2025 model, potentially using an M4 Ultra processor, after reports that Apple would not release more M3 Mac models in 2024.

What remains speculation
The M4 Ultra name, launch window and performance were predictions, not Apple specifications. Missing WWDC does not prove that Apple moved a confirmed announcement. Apple could also choose a separate launch for professional Macs rather than place them in a software keynote.
Buy now or wait?

- Wait: Your current Mac is adequate and a newer Apple silicon generation, GPU or media-engine upgrade would materially help your work.
Do not assume that a rumored M4 Ultra would matter for ordinary office tasks, or that it would automatically be better value than a Mac mini, MacBook Pro or Mac Pro.

3. New Mac Pro
The reported Mac Pro window was late 2025, with a possible new enclosure or broader redesign. That was especially uncertain because the Mac Pro is a specialized workstation rather than a routine consumer refresh.

Why timing is difficult
A redesign rumor is not a confirmed product plan. Apple may separate professional-hardware announcements from WWDC, and the value of a new Mac Pro depends on expansion and software requirements more than on headline chip branding.

- Wait: Your current workstation remains capable and you specifically need a redesigned enclosure or different expansion options.
Maximum specifications alone are not a reason to choose Mac Pro. For many professional workloads, a Mac Studio can be faster, simpler and less expensive.

This was one of the more defensible forecasts. Apple had introduced M3 MacBook Air models in early 2024, making another mainstream refresh only a few months later unlikely. The M4 iPad Pro showed that the chip transition had begun, but it did not mean every Mac line would receive M4 at WWDC. Reporting projected an M4 Air for the first half of 2025.

- Wait: Your existing laptop is usable and you specifically value the newest chip generation or longer runway for future software.
Do not treat the M4 iPad Pro as proof that an M4 MacBook Air was imminent. In 2024, buyers should have compared the available M3 Air and M3 MacBook Pro rather than waiting for an unannounced model.
5. AirTag 2
AirTag 2 was reportedly aimed at mid-2025, with hopes that it might appear at a later WWDC. This was the weakest postponement claim: Apple had not announced a second-generation AirTag or placed it on a WWDC schedule, and the accessory was not a natural priority for a developer-focused keynote.
What a future model might change
Rumored feature areas such as greater range, a louder sound, longer battery life, improved water resistance or additional anti-stalking protections were not confirmed specifications.

- Wait: You have no immediate need and are comfortable with an entirely unconfirmed launch window.
Existing owners should not infer that a second generation is imminent merely because the current accessory is aging. Android-only households and users needing real-time GPS should also assess whether a Bluetooth tracker is the right category at all.

How strongly were the five products expected?
- M4 MacBook Air: strongest product-cycle logic because the M3 model had just launched.
- Mac Studio: plausible professional-Mac timing, but the M4 Ultra forecast was unverified.
- Mac Pro: possible, though heavily dependent on Apple’s workstation strategy and expansion plans.
- Apple TV 4K: possible, but supported mainly by vague timing language.
- AirTag 2: most speculative and least related to WWDC’s developer agenda.
Verdict: absent from WWDC, not proven postponed
WWDC 2024 confirmed a major software and AI roadmap, not a hardware refresh cycle. Apple did not announce any of these five products, but it also had not publicly promised them for the keynote. The accurate description is that rumored products were absent and their projected launch windows extended beyond June 2024. “Postponed” is justified only as a possibility in rumor coverage, never as an established Apple decision.
