Verizon’s current Netflix and HBO Max (now generally branded Max) perk costs $13 per month, not $10. It includes Netflix Standard with ads and Max Basic with Ads. Compared with paying the two entry-level plans directly, the perk saves about $5.98 per month, or $71.76 over 12 months before taxes, assuming prices and eligibility do not change. It is worthwhile for eligible Verizon customers who already want both services—but less appealing if you dislike advertising, need 4K, or may leave Verizon soon.
The $10 Verizon price is historical
Verizon’s current legal terms and FAQ list the perk at $13 per month. Older Verizon material, including a 2024 plan-perks brochure, listed a $10 price for Netflix Standard with ads and Max with ads. That older figure should not be treated as the current nationwide price. You may have an account-specific or grandfathered offer, so the price shown in My Verizon’s perks area and the terms attached to your account should control.

Verizon’s documentation uses both “HBO Max” and “Max” while the service’s branding changes. The included service is Max’s entry-level ad-supported plan, not the ad-free Max Standard tier.

Verizon provides separate Netflix and Max accounts rather than a combined app or shared library. You register each service individually using Verizon’s activation instructions.

Netflix says some titles can be unavailable on the ad-supported plan because of licensing restrictions, and some older or unsupported devices may not work with it. Max’s ad-supported plan does not include offline downloads. Live events on Max can contain advertising regardless of plan.
How much money does it save?
Using the current U.S. prices listed by Netflix, Max and Verizon:

The direct prices are documented at Netflix’s plans page and Max’s plans page; Verizon’s price appears in its current perk terms. The difference is $5.98 per month, calculated as $18.98 minus $13. Over 12 months that is $71.76, before applicable taxes and assuming prices stay unchanged.
At the older $10 price, the historical comparison was $8.98 per month, or $107.76 over a year. That is not the current standard price.

Are the ads tolerable?
Netflix
Netflix’s ad-supported experience inserts a few short ads per hour in most shows and movies. Ads cannot be skipped or fast-forwarded during programming. Netflix also warns that licensing can make some titles unavailable on this tier. Details are in Netflix’s advertising help page.
Max
Max says Basic with Ads runs approximately four minutes of advertising per hour, with ads before and during shows and movies. Live events may include ads on every plan. See Max’s ad-experience guidance.
For casual viewing, the interruptions may be an acceptable trade for the lower price. They are more noticeable during long films, prestige dramas or back-to-back episodes. The relevant question is whether saving $5.98 each month is worth accepting two different ad-supported experiences.

Eligible home-internet plans include 5G Home, 5G Home Plus, LTE Home, LTE Home Plus and Fios, except Classic Standalone. The offer is for legal residents of the 50 states and Washington, D.C., who are at least 18, with one offer per line or internet account under the stated terms.
Plan names can have multiple editions, and Verizon can change eligibility. Confirm the perk and its displayed price in your account before changing a plan or enrolling; do not choose an expensive wireless or home-internet plan solely for a streaming discount.
Existing subscriptions and duplicate billing
You can generally link an existing Netflix account during Verizon registration. Until the link is completed, Netflix may continue charging the payment method already on file. When the Verizon perk ends, Netflix may resume charging that payment method. Changing Netflix tiers does not itself cancel the membership.
For Max, a subscription billed by Apple, Google, Amazon, Roku, a cable company or another distributor may not be replaced automatically. You may have to cancel or manage that old subscription separately. Verizon’s terms warn that existing billing arrangements can continue until accounts are properly linked or replaced.

Use this verification sequence:
- Enroll through My Verizon and register both services with the accounts you intend to keep.
- Open Netflix account settings and Max subscription settings to identify the active billing provider.
- Check that the Verizon-linked memberships show the expected tier.
- Review the next Verizon bill and the next Netflix or Max billing cycle.
- Cancel any duplicate direct or third-party membership yourself; never assume enrollment did it automatically.
What do ad-free upgrades cost?
Verizon’s current FAQ lists these upgrade amounts. They are added to the $13 perk, so the totals below include the bundle charge:

These figures come from the Verizon Netflix & HBO Max FAQ. Verify the amount displayed at enrollment because streaming prices and Verizon account terms can change.
Upgrading both services to their standard ad-free tiers would total $31.50 per month: $13, plus $11 for Netflix, plus $7.50 for Max. That is about $5.48 below the current direct combination of Netflix Standard without ads ($19.99) and Max Standard ($16.99), but you still depend on an eligible Verizon account.

- Sign in to the My Verizon website or app.
- Open the account’s plan-perks or perks-management area.
- Select Netflix and HBO Max/Max and review the displayed eligibility and price.
- Enroll in the perk.
- Choose Register for Netflix and follow the account-linking or text-message prompts.
- Choose Register for Max and create or connect the Max account.
- Confirm that both apps open with the expected ad-supported tiers.
- Check billing before canceling any old subscriptions.
Menu labels can change, but Verizon’s registration guide describes the separate Netflix and Max setup.

When it is a good—or bad—fit
Good fit
- You already pay for both Netflix Standard with ads and Max Basic with Ads.
- Your household accepts commercial breaks and 1080p video.
- You expect to keep an eligible Verizon plan.
- You prefer one Verizon charge for the two services.
Marginal fit
- You use only Netflix or only Max.
- You pause services during months when you do not watch them.
- One service is already covered by another promotion, employer benefit or card perk.
- You want direct control over billing and frequent plan changes.
Poor fit
- You require ad-free playback, 4K, HDR or premium audio.
- You need Max offline downloads or Netflix Premium’s expanded features.
- You may change Verizon plans or cancel Verizon service soon.
- You cannot verify that an old subscription stopped billing.
Alternatives
Subscribe directly
Direct subscriptions cost about $18.98 per month for the two ad-supported tiers, before tax, but make cancellation, upgrades and billing independent of Verizon. Start with Netflix and Max directly if that flexibility matters.
Choose the Disney+, Hulu and Max bundle
Max’s official page lists an ad-supported Disney+, Hulu and Max package at $16.99 per month. It is more useful for households that want Disney and Hulu as well as Max, but it does not include Netflix. See the official bundle details.
Verizon customers can also review other entertainment options in the plan-perks overview; the cheapest option is the one covering services the household actually watches.
Bottom line
At $13, Verizon’s Netflix and Max perk remains a legitimate conditional discount: roughly $5.98 per month below buying the two current ad-supported plans separately. It is a strong choice for an eligible Verizon customer who wants both services and is comfortable with ads. The old $10 price was better but is historical unless your account explicitly shows it. Check the current My Verizon price, link existing accounts carefully, and verify that duplicate billing has stopped before declaring the deal a saving.
